  1. Irish sent to her room. Hahahahaha! That's hilarious. Chocolate mint is the holy grail of mint. The best of the best imo. And there isn't anything wrong with a patio garden, especially with good herbs!
  2. Every time I have called on a prescription a doctor has tried to give me for a dissolvable tablet I have been outright told it contains wheat starch. Unless you want to be on a snipe hunt I would aim for a regular pill which will be easy to find. (At this point I tell doctors outright I won't bother trying to call on that type of pill, I won't waste my time...
  3. I've heard lots of good things about BlendTec also. I mean, if they can blend things like iPads I'm pretty sure they can blend coconut. A friend has a Ninja and she's quite happy with it, she hasn't had it long but she seems thrilled with it for the few months she has had it.
  4. If it weren't for the fact that I'm working today, I would have totally forgotten that it's tax day. It's been over two months since I filed. But, my best friend who I sub for is also a tax accountant so she's busy playing tax hero today and I get to babysit her students. Next year I'll be more up on this stuff as I'll be neck deep in taxes again myself....
  5. Prayers, hugs, good thoughts and crossed fingers. You know, because seriously you and her can take all you can get. She can't catch a freakin break, poor girl! Almost there though! And yes, enjoy the little ones. Having them there to brighten your day I'm sure is a perfectly timed blessing for you.
  6. There are plenty of intolerances that any of us can have that have nothing to do with gluten. It is entirely possible that you can't tolerate potatoes, or corn, or rice, or nightshades, or grains. It may be a challenge to figure out which it is but it sounds like it's one of those for sure. (Also unrelated, but unless your acupuncturist is also a dietitian...
  7. Yesterday was a day from hell for me. I spent hours on the phone dealing with insurance and social security disability crap. Plus I got stepped on, on my bad foot, by a kid in the social security office and spent the rest of the day feeling like my foot was broken and a step away from tears. And yet, the errands needed to be done, scripts picked up, etc....
  8. You're right, they aren't regulated, and that was a problem I had with vitamins for a long time. I was very resistant to wasting my money on a product that was untested and unproven to be helpful. Then I tested for a folic acid deficiency and had no choice. I had to pick one. I went with one that was independently tested by an outside source to be exactly...
  9. Last night it was about 34 out while we stood out at 1 in the morning and watched the lunar eclipse peak. We live in a dessert, so spring means that nights are still positively frigid. Two nights ago while we were up late playing games together we suddenly heard a pattering on the window, which was weird because we're in the basement. That pattering suddenly...
  10. I had a long day myself. Hours on the phone, then hours out of the house doing necessary errands. Lots of insurance and SSD calls and errands, and picking up meds for hubs and me. I came home after having some kid whose parent wouldn't control them in the SS office step on my left foot and ram their head into my thigh (setting me on fire and making me feel...
  11. I'm a fan of pizza stones. No particular brand, just whatever suits you.
  12. I've been trading work for my accountant friend for a Comic Con ticket. Wooo!!! Can't wait for Saturday. We're having a girls' geek day. This is my first one and I'm super excited. I've been spending my whole morning dealing with... crap. Insurance stuff. Social Security stuff. Employer stuff from my husband's employer. Just not the most enjoyable things...
  13. Not everyone has their anemia simply resolve on a gluten free diet as they heal. It is something you may want to supplement for to help if your symptoms are severe, or if you can't tolerate supplements and it's severe enough you could ask if your insurance covers infusions. Your issues certainly sound anemia related to me, but I'm no doctor. It can't hurt...
  14. I'd like to point out, as I have a gluten eating husband who eats enough pizza to feed a small country every year, that there are places that offer online deals when you order pizza that make it as cheap as buying frozen pizzas. Check around and see what's in your area and what deals are current, you may find a lot of $5-7 per pizza deals or if you're getting...
  15. I don't know who thought up putting Talenti on a stick and dipping it in chocolate but they deserve a Nobel Prize or something. I've been eying them at a local store for a while, deciding which flavor I want first when they go on sale.
  16. What does a cow have 4 of that a woman only has 2 of? Legs! What were you thinking?!?!
  17. The next time I get a coupon for Tortillaland I'll get a pack and see what I think. I'm always happy for a recommendation. Yeah, living in a hotbed of Hispanic immigrants really spoils me with some good food. Getting food from people who barely speak English when I speak exactly enough Spanish to find a bathroom in an emergency is probably running with scissors...
  18. Sounds like a blast! But she's your mom and it'll all work out and fun will be had. Or, you know, I live in the desert, if you decide you need a road trip for reasons of unspecified origin. Just sayin'. Also, every time my mother told me not to get smart I was always "what? You want me to be stupid?" She would just glare at me because what could she say...
  19. Great news! Glad to hear that you're taking a positive view on things. You may even heal better without all the stress and pressure you were putting on yourself. Or maybe not. But at least it won't give you wrinkles or dark circles or keep you up at night.
  20. I know you're at a much longer range on elimination and counting. I snapped at 2 weeks! I suppose if I was having the challenges you've had, I would find it a lot easier to put a lot of foods aside. I'm hoping that my ability to introduce a low histamine light diet without issue isn't going to bite me in the butt now that it's warming up, but I'm prepared...
  21. This would probably kill you (at least on the inside, it did me!) but I didn't mess around. I did two weeks on a ridiculous elimination diet. I read every list of histamine foods I could get my hands on online, which I know a significant number of them aren't anywhere near accurate but I avoided everything on every one of the lists anyway. I thought I would...
  22. Vicks also makes Nature Fusion which is gluten free and it says so right on the bottle if you're into name brand stuff. I don't know if they have pills or not, I prefer liquids myself.
  23. For anything that isn't a large area, arm, leg, hands, fingers, things like that, I use COBAN. I also make them use it when I get blood drawn, I've never had a place that doesn't have it. It's that latex free, non-stick but sticks to itself wrap they can just wrap around. Pop a cotton ball on there, wrap the COBAN on and problem solved. I keep some at home...
  24. Very excited. We went out today because I had my follow up appointment, and we stopped at the store on the way home for a great deal on Chex. Well the store was doing some sort of smoked ribs or whatever. Sometimes they do this just because, and sometimes it's a fundraiser sort of thing. Without any expectations or hopes, I went and asked if their ribs were...
