  1. It was in the 60's here yesterday. I bit chilly today, sweater weather in the 30's. Warm again tomorrow, can't keep spring away! I need mac & cheese. Not sure what else I'll make for dinner but I just need some. Maybe a meatloaf so it's easy to eat. I've got a sore face from getting my crown yesterday, but at least other than my 2 checkups for the...
  2. For you it totally made sense. I know you were way off and in an extreme situation. I'm also so glad you're getting better. I was just curious if there was ever a reason for anyone to go that road if they are managing. A dx won't stop me from spending hot days out of the house carrying ice packs and it won't keep me from having a modified diet. I just think...
  3. I've never felt that on this front a diagnosis is important. (at least for me) Is there any real reason to get a diagnosis? I seem to have moderate to good control of things myself with diet depending on how my environment changes.
  4. My husband is anti-casserole or any other such thing that he deems similar. I haven't had lasagna since before I got married. I should just make one sometime and tell him to get his own dinner. It sounds SO GOOD right now.
  5. Before I got married (6 years ago!) I started a project making Christmas stockings for us. But when we got married that meant I wasn't living with my roommate anymore and no sewing machine. I never finished. Now with a new sewing machine I finally finished today so we'll have matching his & hers stockings for this Christmas. We're going to have breakfast...
  6. I just get my greens in salads. And I do NOT do the whole prepping them thing. I try to enjoy cooking, and I do enjoy it more than I used to but it isn't always a total joy or anything. So salads are just buy it in a bag ready to put in a bowl and add dressing to. I used to be in the habit like you of eating twice a day. I eat breakfast late because I'm usually...
  7. Not yet and today's mail came already. I may have to wait for the mailman (okay, so we have a girl, but whatever) with a baseball bat on Monday morning. Hahaha! I guess I was waiting until I knew things would work out. But then I was like screw this, I'll MAKE THEM WORK! So one afternoon I needed a heating pad and I hate (super hate) the electric...
  8. That cake sounds awesome. Mr. Moose is a lucky man.
  9. Sounds like a splendid Friday. Things are going well for business. So I went today and bought myself a sewing machine so I can stop using my MIL's. I don't like hers and I also hate being restricted on the time of day I can sew since I'm such a night owl. Now I can sew when it suits me, even if that means it's "the middle of the night" for other people...
  10. I feel like I've had mine maybe a year or so, so I can't speak for how well it lasts. But I've always been happy with the brand which was why I was confident buying it. The George Foreman with the removable plates is so much more expensive and I refused to waste money on one without them because they're a pita to clean. Been there, done that, never again...
  11. Yeah, it has a grease catcher. It isn't quite as awesome as it could be if something is SUPER greasy. But as long as things are only sort of greasy it works well. It's just a little black thing that slides in on the bottom. The trick is, and this is important, it only works if you remember to slide it in before you start cooking. Not that I have experience...
  12. I got a Cuisinart grill instead of a George Foreman when I replaced mine. I picked it up on sale at Costco for something like $60. It has removable plates that reverse and can be used as a griddle if you open it flat. I love it and use it all the time, it's my favorite thing for so much. You can also purchase waffle inserts for it. I think those may be my...
  13. Since I was little I've always eaten one food on my plate at a time, then moved on to the next one. Apparently this is a trait my uncle has as well. I also always ate my things like Lucky Charms a particular way, the cereal first, then each type of marshmallow one at a time. Fruit Loops were one color at a time. Things like that. I started before I can remember...
  14. So true. Unfortunately, not everything comes out as nicely as we'd like. Thankfully, some things come out just perfectly. Tonight will be more tacos. Yum! There was an incident over the weekend involving a mallet and my left hand, which is my bad side. I've more or less lost the use of my thumb as a thumb. I can't grasp or lift anything with it and...
  15. I discovered this recently when we decided to make beef jerky. Every possible kind that exists for sale locally is safe so they probably all are. And also, homemade jerky is delicious! Isn't a hippie store entirely a freak section? We used to make so many jokes when we needed something from one of those stores, and now we shop at them all the...
  16. When I found out the company that makes the only taco seasoning I like (that doesn't have msg) was out of business I cried. This was quite a while ago and I've tried others or making my own since then and wasn't happy with any. Then one afternoon in the hippie store as I walked down an aisle I saw an entire box of my taco seasoning! Apparently they had an...
  17. I'll have to see if my local Target has them. I've always been paranoid about what if I end up in the hospital. These would be the perfect answer. They could also come in handy on those nights when I get a 10pm text asking me to work the next day. It's fine when I have plans ahead of time to work, but when I don't know I'll be working I don't usually have...
  18. It takes 2-3 days for the fatigue to hit me. Since I know when it's coming, when I have obviously been hit I try to get a few extra chores in order now in that spare day or two before I end up completely flat. Sometimes I'll throw a casserole or two in the freezer so I don't have to cook so much. Other than the GI symptoms that hit me in 30 minutes, and being...
  19. Yesterday was perfect. The year we got married it was insanely warm, I wore a sleeveless dress and no coat. In February. So far every year we've celebrated, we've never had to wear winter coats. Sometimes we do wait til March to celebrate though since we don't usually have an anniversary. Although yesterday was a tad chilly with the rain and I did wear a...
  20. If you're near a Costco they have a lot of options. They're really great about allergen labeling also.
  21. Last night I made pancakes with marionberry syrup and scrambled eggs. I still have no idea what's for dinner tonight. I'll probably disappoint my husband with burgers and fries. I don't want any leftover floating around because we're going out for our anniversary tomorrow. We celebrate whenever it's convenient for us at the end of February/beginning of March...
  22. I'm not sure about the flu like symptoms, but be sure to talk to them about the headache. It isn't unusual to get a headache after, I did, and it can be hours instead of right away. They tried to avoid it for me by doing the infusions more slowly, it didn't work so I just toughed it out. Just be sure to mention it to the people at the clinic or whatever where...
  23. There is some debate about whether or not those tests are even accurate. Since there are a wide variety of beers available that aren't made of poison, I don't see why anyone with celiac would purposefully buy such a product.
  24. It's in the 50s most days, 40s others. The birds are out every day. It really feels like spring. I'm trying not to get my hopes up since it's February but I doubt beyond one or two more storms we'll see any more real snow or cold. Sorry. Hope you guys find spring soon!
  25. There are some medical conditions you get rid of, this isn't one of them. You can heal the damage done to your body, but you will forever live your life with the fact that if you eat gluten, you will have an autoimmune reaction and cause new damage. I agree very much with what Karen said. You need to focus on healing and overcoming the challenges this presents...
