  1. I shop at Smith's which is a Kroger brand store and buy their ground meats all the time and have never had a problem with any of them. A natural solution shouldn't have gluten in it, I would eat it without worry. They certainly won't be getting back to you on a weekend.
  2. If your own kitchen is gluten free, I would opt for that over renting and sharing. EWWW!!!! and omg CC! Also, certified? Who cares? Seriously. It's just a label that doesn't matter. At all. If you can label it as using only certified gluten free ingredients I say good enough. I grill manufacturers on ingredients and practices. Certification is stupid...
  3. Well hopefully a good laugh made you feel better. Yes, I'm sure IBS is totally common in women because we're so emotional and omg is this guy lifted straight from the dark ages? Did he get his medical degree from a Cracker Jack box? Does he even have one? Does he also think we're prone to vapors and hysteria and require old time treatment for that too...
  4. I managed to keep myself under control until this.
  5. If you don't think white cake would work, what about a pound cake or angel food cake? I like my angel food cake ok but I don't know how other people would like it. I rather thought it was amazing. Besides, they're dipping in boozy dip, and there will be drinks? As if they'll be noticing at that point that the cake isn't the cake they're used to as long as...
  6. When you figure this out, with cupcakes, let me know. If there aren't cupcakes, I'm not interested.
  7. I use a moderately similar recipe for my chicken balls. I play with my spices depending on what I'm doing with it. It's more Chinese food though really isn't it?
  8. It seems overwhelming to get started. Believe me I know! But once you have started and get going you realize it isn't as bad as it seems and while it's a lot, it isn't going to bury you. The first thing to do though would be to find out if you even could legally operate a food based business out of your home. If not, while it seems impossible, there are a...
  9. I'm laughing so hard. Not at your awful visit, but because I've totally sat listening to a doctor drone on demeaning me in that same way while wondering if stabbing him in the eye is an option. I look around the office and only half pay attention to what he's saying as I daydream about what my options are such as a tongue depressor. I thought I was the only...
  10. I'm the spoiled brat with three health food stores. I found them one day completely by accident. I quickly put them right back where I found them when I noticed the $10 price tag. Holy crap! Udon noodles were an ultimate comfort food. Of course, I never once made anything myself, I always got them out somewhere. Sometimes I miss being able to be so lazy...
  11. I always get Mission. Sometimes white, sometimes yellow depending on my mood.
  12. The first thing you'll need to do is find out if your state requires that kitchen certification, inspection or whatever rules are in place about that. Then you'll have to sort out the rules about operating a business under a business name, which if you sell outside of to your own friends, you'll need. (I simply needed a sales tax license, to register my name...
  13. I've seen your kitchen. Unless you're buying catering size, you have lots more room. I was obsessed with udon noodles. In my anger and frustration I turned my back on all Japanese food if I can't have the noodles I want. I'm only just beginning to think I may try to either make them myself or try soba and branch out. I always just google the crap...
  14. I buy expensive chocolate when I buy it, and frequently find chocolate that doesn't have soy. Amano makes the top of my list by a long stretch. (I believe there is a warning on their packages because they use antique equipment, but they do not use soy.) I'm lucky to live a few blocks from a grocery store that considers fine chocolates to be important and...
  15. My carrot soup ended up waiting until last night. The recipe is simply carrots, spring onions, celery, butter, broth, cook til soft, blend, add cream, salt and white pepper. It doesn't need flour to thicken it because it doesn't get enough broth to be thin. And that recipe you linked looks interesting, but just overpowering with the flavors. I like the simple...
  16. I've really really tried to get my husband to watch figure skating, to show him why it's awesome. I got him to sit for 2 1/2 minutes through the Japanese kid's short program but his response was basically "meh" and I gave up. That didn't stop my husband from having intense interest when I was watching a bunch of Plushenko videos and one happened to be the...
  17. I totally forgot about this! I grew up eating my chicken soup this way about half the time. This was what happened when mom was too lazy to make dumplings and it was always delicious!
  18. We all have these moments don't we? I did this over the weekend with some parmesan cheese. I feel like I'm on fire but I'd do it again. I know I have no business even having that stuff in the house but sometimes things just... happen when I'm at the store.
  19. Thanks. The world keeps turning I guess, and the money I spent Tuesday to pay for my Bountiful Baskets produce turned into pick-up day today. I can't say I understood when I paid $16 extra dollars for 25 pounds of rainbow carrots that I knew exactly how big a bag of carrots that would be. Now I have this huge bag of carrots on my counter that I have to deal...
  20. We weren't really celebrating anyway, we aren't much of V-day people. Just leftover chicken getting used up as quesadillas and some red velvet cupcakes. But this morning heaven got two little angels and Valentine's Day will never be the same for anyone in my family again. My cousin's wife and other daughter are still in the hospital so any prayers that can...
  21. I sometimes think I should always be waiting for another shoe to drop, my life isn't what it was 6 years ago when I got married. I had a full time job and was physically active enough to hike the entire Provo canyon end to end. The canyon trail (in the canyon) is 7 miles end to end and I didn't think anything of heading up in the morning and hiking one end...
  22. This is my recipe that I forget where I found. My husband super loves it and eats more than I do. I also sometimes make it with mini m&m's for him. I was actually thinking about making them again and experimenting with making them chocolate chocolate chip or chocolate peanut butter or butterscotch chip. Chocolate Chip Cookies INGREDIENTS 1 ¾...
  23. My favorite is the ice dancing. I enjoyed the team event although I'm hoping that they can work out something so that it isn't so set in stone so early next time. I'd also be all for even more ice skating events! The more the better. No such thing as enough.
  24. We'll have breakfast for supper tonight. I haven't decided if we'll have biscuits or pancakes yet. I do know we'll have eggs, hash browns and bacon flavored sausages. I'll probably even indulge in an extra sausage or two because I'm already going to be rebounding from dental work and narcotics and surprisingly I don't feel like hell yet anywhere but my face...
  25. I'm an ice skating fan, so I've been rather enjoying myself. Not live of course. I am not getting up at 7:30 in the morning to get settled in with breakfast to watch. I wait until the afternoon or evening and settle in with my dinner or a snack. I really feel a little bit terrible and unpatriotic saying this, but I really hope that little Russian girl takes...
