  1. Tonight was leftover pork roast with some garlic taters. There were veggies to go with it for me, and some mac & cheese. Other than cutting up a tater and throwing it in the oven, dinner was 100% microwavable. It was that kind of day. The good news is that I'm still semi-vertical-ish. Tomorrow will be a better day.
  2. Anything that awesome deserves celebrating! I've questioned things similar to this with my kids. One of them doesn't like mint at all, no kind of mint, not mint teas, not mint chocolate brownies, nothing minty. I asked her if she was maybe switched at birth. The response of course was "mooooooooooooom!!!!" The other one who found out she is lactose...
  3. So, I know I was just here, but I found this cause someone posted it on facebook. I was thinking this looked good for supper. I may have paraphrased some of the directions, and I also clearly remember that a "box" of macaroni comes in either 8 or 16 ounces and have figured out that works out to 2 or 4 cups of my pasta uncooked. Not sure what size box they...
  4. Well, I guess it is fitting for that to be Irish. Probably playing with her bike streamers. It is good to see more people around here, liven the place up a bit on our down days. I have no idea what I am cooking today, I am up earlier than normal because in my brilliance last night I forgot to take my flonase and I woke up stuffy, sore throat and coughing...
  5. I found this hysterical. My husband may think I'm crazy because I'm always off in my corner laughing. I managed today to roll myself out of bed, get dressed and ready and get dinner in a crock pot all before 1 so I can take off to the doctor. I even managed to apply a blow dryer to my head so I don't look like a mangy animal when I leave the house...
  6. Tillamook is sooooo good!! And buying it in huge bricks at Costco is still half the price of the cheap cheese at any other store. I know it is just cheese and some people would talk about how it shouldn't matter, the kind of thing parents saving money lie to kids about, but it really matters what brand you buy.
  7. Tillamook medium cheddar. My husband prefers a milder cheddar and I am all about the sharpest I can get my hands on so we compromise. I usually add a little something else, but was feeling too lazy to shred my mozz tonight. (Yes, even though I have the KitchenAid attachment.)
  8. I think I have an addiction. We had a late lunch with burgers, and I smothered mine in fried shrooms, onions and peppers with some cheese so I didn't even think about supper til late. By the time I was hungry all I wanted was mac & cheese. This is the danger in buying a 5 pound brick of cheese at Costco. I wasn't super hungry so all I had was the mac...
  9. Last week was perfect weather. Yesterday was chilly, with rain all day and just ick. We've got snow falling in the mountains and it I know there is a wind advisory. I haven't been out or even upstairs yet today to look out at what it looks like out there. The weather report says snow, rain and 42 today. EW! I have plans to get the last of my medical records...
  10. I went to the dentist at noon for a checkup and cleaning. They did a deep cleaning and offered to do it without gassing or numbing me. I about fell out of my chair laughing at the girl. I still can't feel the bottom right side of my face and the bottom left is so sore I could just die. At least I got a free pink toothbrush. I need to start making plans for...
  11. I made a fruit crisp instead of apple crisp. My husband took my fuji apple for work so I improvised. I used my tart apples, some pears and some strawberries. It could have used some corn starch or a flour dusting to thicken the fruit, but otherwise it is awesome. I used this recipe for the topping and six cups of fruit. http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes...
  12. I'm not going to spend all my time speculating on what happened to my stomach. I will simply curse it until it knocks off this stupid crap. I feel "better" this morning, but that is simply relative. I think I feel better enough to be making apple crisp though. Those apples aren't going to use themselves up. Everybody needs to feel better. Dinner tonight...
  13. I don't know what is wrong tonight. I'm not contaminated or anything, but I am having the worst stomach pains. I had a little earlier, but it went away and I thought nothing more of it. Then tonight when I dragged my husband out for shopping it came back. With a vengeance no less. So, the apple crisp is on hold until tomorrow. Hoping this passes by morning...
  14. Glad to see you are feeling better. One of the worst things in the world for me is not knowing something, so I'd be pretty close to criminally insane by now if I were in your place. Got some beautiful lettuce this morning. I popped a chicken breast in some balsamic vinaigrette to do something like get delicious. I'll throw that on my indoor grill and...
  15. I guess my husband has decided he wants something resembling a "real" dinner tonight since getting home. I'll crack open a holiday jar of George, roast some taters and veggies and keep it easy. I have an early morning tomorrow. Veggies at 6 and first match at 8ish. I have to admit, I'm kinda jealous that you're there.
  16. My oldest daughter's plan is to become a chemical engineer, save the world, get rich. I like her plan. I thought I was going to bring up this live stream and only watch my daughter's matches and that it would be dreadfully boring. I'm surprised by how much fun this whole robot thing actually is to watch. Not that I frankly care about any other robots but...
  17. My baby is on team 3942, the Northark Pioneers. If you see them and it doesn't seem stalkerish... tell them that Heidi says hi. That is what she calls me anywho. She knows I'm watching.
  18. Better late than never with Easter dinner. Sounds yummy! We're having a late lunch for dinner since my husband has a weird work schedule today. He is leaving around 2:30 and working an evening. My daughter's First Robotics competition is this weekend too, started yesterday. So as much as possible I am glued to a live stream to watch her matches. So...
  19. Glad you're okay! Sounds super scary. When I say my life is boring I also always say I like it that way. I will keep my boring life tyvm. I don't need that kind of excitement.
  20. Travel safely! Nothing wrong with a non-traditional Easter dinner, I'm sure that it was absolutely fabulous. I'm also sure that your new little man is missing you as much as you are missing him. Today we tackled the task together of attacking our Easter George to get him into jars and canned for future use. We have 14 pint jars and I have a pot of...
  21. When you get things straightened out there, you get right on making yourself an angel food cake. You deserve it! I do hope you are doing okay, holidays are no time to be spending in a hospital. I use the King Arthur recipe, but with the pastry flour blend from the December Living Without for the Christmas cookies. I use Alton Brown's recipe for lemon curd...
  22. I've been completely out of stamina lately. Even knowing how much more important this week was, being Easter weekend, people being away for vacation, and how short on volunteers they would be, there was no way I could rally through the pain and fatigue this morning. The bright side is, when I went and picked up my stuff there were three beautiful zucchinis...
  23. I simply rinse mine. I have no problems.
  24. Burgers tonight for dinner. I didn't make it to dropping my Jeepy off, I'll do that later. I just don't have the stamina today for a bus ride. I will though find the stamina to make arepas for the burgers. I also have a little asparagus left to use up and I suppose I'll let my husband have actual french fries tonight. All deep fried and bad for him.
  25. No one will blame you for blaming doctors a little bit. When you see a person more often then the doctor they are spending 5 minutes with, you just know things sometimes. I wish doctors would freaking learn to listen and not think that they can diagnose any disease in 10 seconds flat. On a brighter note, I managed a quick and easy dinner to night of butter...
