The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat

Happy Birthday!!! Sounds like IH is having a blast. Foodie dream for vacation, it sounds positively divine. I got cauliflower in my basket today and I didn't want to do the same old boring crap with it. So I headed to google and found a fun recipe for spicy buffalo cauliflower. I was a little scared but it is super delicious. I made Frank's buffalo... -

What the hell kind of person steals a freakin bike? I'm sorry. And don't be sorry, I'm pretty sure the reactions would be mostly the same most of the way around. Maybe they'll catch the jerk and find your bike. -

Salads, chicken and roasted potatoes. As long as he doesn't get tired of this potato thing I think I'll just keep them coming. -

Tonight we popped a can of Christmas George (ham) and baked some taters in the microwave and I roasted some asparagus. I even managed gravy for the taters. It took all of 15 minutes to make and was super delicious. -

All I did was google how to make a KitchenAid mixer cover when I saw the price of the darn things. I had to borrow a sewing machine. -

Wish I could. After the afternoon spent sewing I realize that sewing is not a hobby to take lightly in my future. Really did me in! That corned beef sounds good! I should have thought of getting one. I may take the easy way out and just pick one up at the store and throw it in the crock pot Sunday. -

I inherited a new counter in the kitchen. Because it is below the dishes and such that aren't mine, and I am super paranoid, I felt like I needed covers for my appliances before they migrated over. I also wasn't about to spend $50+ on a toaster and mixer cover. Holy crap they're expensive! So, I made my own. This is the fruits of an afternoon of labor. ... -

I've wondered about her too. I think maybe she hasn't had a chance to thaw out yet and is just a popsicle up there in the frozen tundra she calls home? -

I poked around enough to find some burgers in the freezer to make tonight. I must have made an impression at some point on my husband because he texted me from work and asked if I could make butter and garlic roasted potatoes tonight. I know they're just lowly potatoes, but he asked for a vegetable! I also found a really simple roasted bok choy recipe I think... -

Ok, so this whole getting up early on Saturdays thing? I could get used to this. I just discovered Bountiful Baskets which is a west(ish) food co-op thingy for fruits and veggies. I was super skeptical since there is so much I can't eat. (I'm still worried about spinach season.) For $15 I got two entire reusable shopping bags full of fruits and veggies. Bananas... -

As I talked to my oldest daughter this week it dawned on me to ask her about her robot team. I remembered her mentioning the first time she was going was on my birthday, which was Jan. 5. She is getting more and more excited now every time she talks about it as there is about a month left. So seeing your little pic every day it finally clicked and I asked... -

Hope he's feeling better soon. I had a lot of rough times with that when my oldest was a baby and toddler so I know how stressful it is for everyone, which certainly doesn't help. Tonight I had battered fish and fried green beans. My day did not go at all as planned and by dinner time cooking was not on the agenda. -

I might have eaten about half of the angel food cake I made in about a day. I also had no regrets. It was just there, staring at me every time I went to the kitchen. And when I wasn't in the kitchen it was there, calling to me, reminding me that it was amazingly delicious and needing to be eaten. What could I do but comply? Those Oreo things are really... -

I am so happy for you! There are little victories, that bring us smiles every day. Then there are these, the things that are so joyous that they bring us tears and laughter and memories of a lifetime. I'm actually so happy for you I cried a little. I also thought that the Mrs. Leeper's cheeseburger mac was okay. It wasn't awesome, and I only ended up buying it once because my husband didn't particularly like it. I can't have it right now because of the yeast, but maybe again sometime. It is pretty salty, but I have a thing for salt and other than that the flavor isn't bad. As a quick and easy meal it... -

Four years. Yay! It is impossible to imagine the moment it happens that down the road we'll be celebrating hearing it. Yet here we all are, happy as freshly slopped pigs. Tonight I have a little ham I yanked outta the freezer to cook up. I'll make some roasted red potatoes with it and maybe some corn. Gravy is definitely on the list. And hey, it was... -

Lentils sound yummy! I haven't had any in a while, I think I'll make a lentil loaf this week. Glad that you can have them. And now you have a weapon of war too. Thanks for the idea. It isn't just getting back foods, but celiac in general makes you appreciate the little things. Every little food. Every little activity. Every last win and victory we have... -

I wouldn't have resisted creme brulee myself. It is a vacation after all. Today was supposed to be my last day babysitting, as the little guy was starting at a daycare to get some social skills. He spent the day home instead. I have burnt myself out getting his stuff all packed up for his mom to pick up so instead of pizza leftover for lunch tomorrow... -

We're having pizza for our anniversary tonight. Nothing fancy or anything, we're just too much in love with pizza. He'll order out and I'll make my own. Well, sort of. I still have 2 Venice crusts in the freezer. Five years and I'm still madly in love and he's still hilarious. Don't tell him though, I keep the eyerolls coming to keep him on his toes with... -

Tiramisu? Can I come to your house?!? Ok, so the whole pizza quesadilla thing was a whim. I wasn't sure it would work but I mean, what can't you put between two corn tortillas and fry? So, pizza sauce, pizza blend of cheese and diced pepperonis. I was worried it would be meh, or worse. Instead it is awesome! It is like a little mini thin crust pizza.... -

Catfish with a very mildly spicy tomato-y sauce type thing tonight over rice. Very yummy. Hubs is having a ham sandwich. The man has seriously busted taste buds. Oh well, I'll have an awesome lunch tomorrow. Have a safe trip Irish! I'm sure that the sun and beach and dolphins and all that will do amazing things for you. We all can't wait to hear about... -

I'm very excited for you. You absolutely have to bring pics back! I'm sure that the dolphins will be magical. I'm still kicking myself over the too soon elliptical. Can't sleep. Can barely... anything. Tonight is leftover porkies. I'll manage to roast a few more potatoes since the hubs seemed to enjoy them and I'm sure I can scrounge up something green...
