  1. I found trout on sale today at the store. I have missed fish these past few weeks so I am very excited. I'll probably just fry it up on the stove. I think maybe some sort of potato with it and some fried green beans too. My peppermint cocoa pebble treats are awesome! I don't think they'll survive long.
  2. Today I made queso fresco. Chicken tacos and fried cheese for supper. The waiting is killing me!!! I didn't get around to the cheese until this afternoon and it is just about time to go check on it again. I think I may just unwrap that cheesecloth and get into it anyway. I also made some fresh butter again. This time I'm using the butter with some peppermint...
  3. I think I'm in love with her. I also think I need to make those apple bacon sweet potato cakes. I suppose any old flour will do since nuts make me blind. I don't have a scrap of bacon in this house. I guess I need to go shopping tomorrow.
  4. I picked up a ginormous bag of mini peppers at Costco. I'm thinking about making half of them into little baby stuffed pepper bites. I don't know what my husband will eat. He has a very serious aversion to vegetables. Also making butter today, as I used up all I had last night on my arepas. (The beans are a no go for now, I woke up half blind. Oh well, who...
  5. Testing my tyramine limits a little at a time. So tonight, chili! Perfect snowy weather dinner. Crossing my fingers for beans.
  6. A betadine wash is generally used to clean the cows. It doesn't hurt anything to just leave it on them, and so that is what happens. The diary I use washes the cows twice to get it off of them. I was shocked that this was something I didn't know before having grown up in a close knit farming community in PA. Of course, many there simply have very small farms...
  7. I'm drinking raw milk because it isn't contaminated with iodine. Other than that I am dairy free. I already know how to make my own butter thanks to being a farm girl but I'm cheese free until I learn to make some. Lucky me the store I buy my milk at is having a cheese making class tonight. I'm such a cheese addict. I've always suspected I have a dairy issue...
  8. Leftovers. Because pot roast and gravy never gets old. I also need something quick and easy, tonight is my cheese making class, so excited!
  9. I had pot roast tonight too. I had a roast (not pot roast though ) two nights ago. If it is a condition I have it pretty bad. I hope there is no cure and I am okay with it worsening over time. I had a baked potato and carrots with mine. Slathered that tater with fresh butter from raw milk. Slathered everything else in copious amounts of gravy. Following...
  10. Too tired to cook, barely functioning since coming off my steroids. Just threw a roast in the oven with some taters and baby carrots. I figure for 10 minutes worth of effort I'll have dinner, lunch and dinner again if I can find the effort to use the microwave and wash some dishes. Everything is accompanied with some ginger ale and bitters to be able to keep...
  11. Milk is complicated for me right now because of iodine. I found an organic farm that sells whole raw milk I can safely have. The issue is I'm jumping from 2% to full fat milk so it's a calorie increase so I'm worried about my new jeans staying a good fit! I'll figure it out. Supper was super yummy. MMMMM!!!!!! Bacon!! I can't wait to start having bacon...
  12. Wednesday when I was trolling around I noticed no one had posted for THREE WHOLE DAYS!!!. I was like, this would never have been allowed to happen if love2travel was home. We're all happy to have you back! Tonight I used up all my energy making butter, so just leftover pork and apple cole slaw. Well, I suppose that's half a lie about how I used up all...
  13. Tonight is pulled pork on arepas. I'm sure I'll think of a vegetable between now and supper. Or mabye not, I don't really feel like cooking and I already have to make the arepas. They're made of corn, that counts as a vegetable right? I need to hit the store this afternoon and see if there is any milk left and maybe I'll just have a little tomato soup with...
  14. I spent my whole weekend whining about how I was going to starve to death. I think I'm over my temper tantrum now that I've called a half a billion dairies and found milk. Tonight was brown sugar baked acorn sqaush, fried potatoes with rosemary and honey balsalmic vinagrette chicken breasts with a nettle tea latte. Iodine? Who needs the crap?
  15. I just didn't feel like doing anything today and my husband wanted pizza so it all worked out. We went and picked up a pizza for him somewhere then went somewhere else for me. I had vetted them over the phone previously and kind of just stored the info for later when I finally felt like a pizza. It was a pretty great price for a gluten free pizza, 12 bucks...
  16. Yesterday I picked up a really nice rack of pork ribs at half price, so that's supper. I got a call rousing me out of bed at the crack of 10 this morning calling me in to sub the afternoon class, which means they'll have exactly enough time all wrapped up cozy in their rub before being baked. I think I have a buttercup squash laying around somewhere to cook...
  17. That sounds super tasty! I'll have to remember that for next time, sans nuts.
  18. Okay, so this won't sound like it all goes together but it's all stuff that sounded good at the time. Mashed squash because apparently my husband just doesn't like it and I just can't get enough. Salads because we need to be eating salads. And pizza burgers. I was going to have a regular old cheeseburger until I was looking in my fridge and saw my fresh mozzarella...
  19. Since discovering that squash is in fact awesome I am seeing which ones I like best before stocking up for the winter. Tonight is oven roasted delicata with lemon and herb pork tenderloin and I'll either have some mashed taters and gravy or some jasmine rice with it. Since my husband won't go near either of those I think I may force feed him some sweet potato...
  20. Pan seared salmon with creamy citrus dill sauce, garden salad with raspberry cabernet dressing and bacon tomato bisque. It's soup season again!
  21. My Venice Bakery crusts finally arrived!!! Okay okay, so I didn't actually order them until last weekend. They shipped Monday and arrived today so it wasn't that awful a wait but I thought I just may die wanting pizza. So, we only got the sample pack of three 5 inch crusts to try them until we were sure we wanted to order more. For the first time in ...
  22. I always, and I mean always, have some sort of apple-y something with my pork and I was thinking that maybe I needed to not do that. But somehow the apple just is calling to me. I stopped at the garden market on the way home and picked up a beauteous little squash. I'm sending my husband for a haircut and I think I'll have him bring an apple home to add to...
  23. Last night we had grilled chicken breasts, corn and garlic ranch mashed potatoes. My husband got some pork chops out of the freezer which I suppose is my queue to so something with them for dinner tonight. I had to work today so maybe on my way home I'll see if I can find a nice looking squash to have with them or something.
  24. Hubs was craving a sandwich so he managed to drag me away from my video game where I was furiously working on my in game cooking. I was gathering stuff to cook. We had to shop to to make sandwiches. I guess I pretty much do the same things in my video game that I do in real life. We made some mac and cheese and ham sandwiches with some Chobani for...
