  1. Today is my six week checkup after my hysterectomy. There may not be time for dinner. Actually, in all seriousness. I went shopping at 1:30 this morning and found skin on chicken thighs on sale. So something thighs, maybe fried with crispy skin. I know I shouldn't but just YUM! Rainbow carrots and mashed potatoes and some sort of yummy sauce with all...
  2. Chicken surprise is becoming buffalo chicken dip because apparently all it took was once to get my husband hooked and that's what he wants. I know it's not exactly the most appropriate food for me with the ranch and the Frank's (not a gluten issue, I have other issues) but I'll have a little because it's delicious! Maybe I'll stuff myself with a big fat bowl...
  3. Double dark chocolate and sea salt caramel... in cones? Yes yes yes please!!! My neuro doubled my gabapentin and it had the most god-awful side effect ever. I'm going off it but the only joy left me right now is probably gelato so I gotta get some until I'm off these meds. I did see my pain doc today though and he got me on an accelerated titration for getting...
  4. I'm always off by a day I guess. Sunday night we had tacos, which was a day early. Last night we had pasta. Day early again. At least I'm ahead of schedule instead of behind. I think we're having burgers tonight. I didn't make plans and it's getting kind of late and I still haven't made plans. That sort of turns it into burger night. Some sort of veggie...
  5. Free/free? Sounds awesome! Have a great time! I've been seeing stuff about it and it looks like a great time planned.
  6. I spent the day organizing and doing stuff today. I had my sewing area sort of in front of the door to apartment and we were sliding through sideways to get in and I had bad light. I moved my sewing area today to the living room attached to the kitchen so I have lots of light from a big window. I told my husband to go find dinner in the deep freezer. He came...
  7. My husband is away for a sleep study again tonight. He didn't sleep enough the first time to get enough readings to be conclusive about needing a c-pap so they're just going to try one to see if it helps since he obviously has at least a moderate apnea problem. I was at the office late (it feels so weird to say that!) with my best friend setting up all my...
  8. It is scientifically impossible for gluten to be in distilled anything. Enjoy!
  9. It comes as a black and white set. I had intended when I went into the store to buy the plain little ball that is either red, blue or green and clear. But my husband was all omg this is so cute! And I was like yeah, it's freakin' adorable. And $20. (on sale!) We walked a bit and came back to it deciding we needed both a move in gift and could pass on a few...
  10. You guys are funny. I'm not complaining about the size of the kitchen, was just mentioning that it's small. The only downside to it is if we're passing each other we're rubbing up against each other. Well, maybe that isn't a downside after all. There is a "cabinet" around the corner (freestanding) to use as a pantry, that's what makes it feel small. The...
  11. This is my new kitchen. It isn't large, but it's all mine! One from right after I finished cleaning and the other is after I moved in my stuff, the counter appliances and such are (maybe) where I like them.
  12. I have an amazing husband who worked his butt off on his day off for me. Halfway through the move I decided I wanted a little lunch. Exactly when the dishes were 100% in the new kitchen and the food was 100% in the old kitchen. Not exactly helpful for finding a meal. Lucky me I had one leftover slice of pizza that I threw in my little oven on a piece of foil...
  13. Lemme know how they turn out and what recipe you use. I haven't made cookies yet and my husband just spent his day off carrying heaving stuff to my new kitchen for me instead of playing video games. And I'm dragging him shopping and to my vendor meeting. I don't think the rib eyes I decided on for dinner are gonna cut it for a thank you. The carpets are being...
  14. Velveeta also makes cheese sauce in a packet now that you can just squeeze out onto your pasta that is easier even than the block. It's something like $2-3 for a box of 3. They're great for my husband. I can just cook up a batch of gluten-free pasta and throw that on there and it's perfect. And I may sneak a few bites no matter how bad I know it is for me...
  15. Yes. I think it's generally awesome for a box mac & cheese. I can only say that it is way better with the butter than without. I only know this because I once realized after I had the pasta in the water that I had no butter or I wouldn't know.
  16. Using dishwashers to get the stickers off of new dishes? Using dishwashers as garbage disposals? Using dishwashers as storage for broken glass dishes? These are some of my best guesses but at any rate that sucker is clean and I used it to not do my own dishes last night/this morning at like 1. HAH! I win! I should have planned ahead for a crock pot meal...
  17. Grats on getting back to walking! And I love love love gravy! I introduced my husband to real gravy instead of that crap in a jar and he fell ever so much more in love with me. I do the recipe changing thing too. I always get a little cranky when I don't remember what I did to make it awesome. Tonight's dinner plans changed. I had my husband bring...
  18. The bus joke even got a chuckle out of my husband, which doesn't happen often. Usually he just tells me that sure, whatever I find hilarious was someone amusing. I think we're having burgers tonight. It's something not messy with not a lot of dishes. Since we're moving the kitchen tomorrow I don't want to make any thing that will have leftovers or a...
  19. Get feeling better fast! And keep enjoying that weather. And yeah, if you're gonna be hiding from tornadoes in the basement beer definitely sounds like a good idea. Always good to have priorities straight. I saw on my facebook feed today that a local store has Udi's bread on sale for $3.50 and I had a few coupons left for $1.50 off so I ran right...
  20. Some ovens say to do it with the racks out. I couldn't find instructions for this one so I played it safe. At least they'll be shiny and nice when I'm done.
  21. You want my snow? Take it! Someone must have taken it because it cleared up beautifully and will be near 50 today. I think I'll get out in the late afternoon to pot my mint if I'm feeling up to it. I started my day with the kitchen half done already but the stove hood and oven racks staring at me when I walked in this morning. Ugh! At least it's just the...
  22. Maybe the rain will let up she says.... yeah, it let right up. It's f'n snowin!!!
  23. omg I almost forgot to share, but I was super excited about telling everyone when I was at the store getting it. So, I stopped at the store to get my chocolate mint and right next to it was a purple plant. I was like, what's that? It was purple basil, which I've never heard of before. So, I got some! It'll go nicely with my purple carrots and purple string...
  24. Glad you survived intact! I just use corn tortillas for everything I used to use flour tortillas for. I know it isn't what I "should" be doing but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying gluten-free flour tortillas that cost $1 each (or more!) and will just crack and fall apart and generally be the worst thing I ever spent money on and leave me eating...
