  1. My girl goes in for her Endoscopy in 2 days to confirm Celiac. I had my blood work done last week and it all came back negative. I have no symptoms. My husband and son are having their blood work done tomorrow, both with no symptoms. If we all are negative blood work, we still may carry the gene, right? This is all so confusing. Why is she postive and we may all be negative? Doesn't a first line relative have to carry the gene, or have the disease?

  2. My 11 year old daughter just diagnosed with Celiac ( blood only ) has told her friends and teachers everything, from blood work to doctor appts. to getting the biopsy done next week. She's very open with everyone. I have her looking up gluten-free recipes online, grocery shopping together and even comparing prices of the "old" food to the gluten-free food. I even discussed with her the problems she may encounter if she eats gluten. She is well aware of the consequences and complications. She's a social butterfly and is always going places and to have a "tummyache" and "headache" would be devastating to her social career...ha ha! So, she better stick to her diet or else no play time!

She does pack her lunch and I have packed enough gluten-free cookies, and candies to share with her friends at the lunch table. I was amazed to find out that most of her friends tried and even liked the food. They have all learned about this and it's important to teach her friends what's happening. Her true friends will support her!

Now, in a few years she may rebel, but for now I'm pretty rough on her about eating what she supposed to eat.

    Good Luck!

  3. My daughter started a couple months ago with headaches and light nausea only in the mornings. I had her tested for Celiac and it came back positive. I put her on somewhat of a gluten-free diet for 12 days and she lost 4 pounds. We went to see a GI yesterday and she's having an endoscopy and biopsy done next week. GI put her back on gluten and she's had no headaches or nausea today. She said she feels really good, better than when she was on gluten-free. This is so confusing. Could the blood tests be wrong?

  4. Yes! they are :)

and so is Sweet Baby Ray's--which is made by Ken's foods.

but yes, reading labels is always good practice! :)

I didn't realize Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ was gluten free. It has tamarind and natural flavorings in it. Are both of those ok? I'm still learning, so maybe I'm mistaken. I thought I read somewhere to be careful with tamarind and natural flavorings?

  5. I'm still new to all this gluten free information, so when I find things that seem normal I get very excited! I wanted to share with everyone. Doing my research I found that Campbells updated their gluten free list as of February 2012. The web site is www.campbellswithoutgluten.com. Most of the items are one's that I already use. I hope it's helpful for everyone!

  6. My daughter was diagnosed a month ago by a positive blood test that she is Celiac. She's 11 years old and has always been a wonderful eater. About 2 weeks ago I put her on a gluten free diet, to the best of my newbee knowlegde. She's adjusting very well. Since we are in the first stages of learning everything, I have not been 100% at keeping gluten products away from her. The other people in my family are not on this "gluten free" diet so we do have items in the house that have gluten. My main concern lately is that she started off at 87 pounds after Christmas and is now down to 83 pounds. ( She is on ADHD meds too, so that may have something to do with it as well. ) I also am confused about cross contamination. Do all Celiac diagnosis have to be concerned about cross contamination? I put her on gluten free vitamins, she takes those every morning with her adhd meds. She also has been telling me that her bowel movements have increased in quantity, at one time only, every morning same time. Is that normal? Reading this back, it sounds like I'm all over the board. I'm just so confused. I have so many questions. I just want her to be healthy. We do have an appointment with a Pediatric Gastro next week and hopefully a nutritionist can help. I welcome any suggestions and answers from personal experience. Thank you!

  7. My daughter recently had the blood tests done to determine Celiac. Eveything came back positive except the Immunoglobulin A Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody, IGA. It was 113, which is in the normal range. They are suggesting an endoscopy with biopsy. My Pediatrician is suggesting that isn't necessary and to just start her on a gluten free diet. Does she absolutely have to have the procedure? And since the blood tests came back postive does that confirm she has celiac?

    Thanks.
