    I'm new to blogging, too. But I did find out how to widen the page. Go to your controls. At the top of the left hand column is different settings for your blog and an About Me page, etc. In one of those settings, they let you set how many pixels wide you want your blog to be. (between 150 and 350). I set mine at 350, so you can take a look at Jonesy's blog...
