  1. I admit to feeling as if someone is trying to kill me when gluten is treated without regard (by those that know my issues) in my presence. A mistake can be so costly for me that I fail to understand careless behavior. I hope that you will use utmost caution and apologize for any blunders as well as family member will not take it so personally. My reactions...
  2. I had narcolepsy in my gluteny past. Gluteny past meaning the time when I freely ate gluten since I didn't know I had celiac at the time. I have since solved this with major diet changes both removing gluten and others.
  3. I reacted to airborne gluten in the past. I found myself sick after holding a glass vial with gluten in it for 20 minutes. I was ill for 2 months. All I can say is that the brain knows that the gluten is there and goes into action. However; so far as I can tell, this is an allergic reaction beyond celiac and most of you will never have to worry about...
  4. Many rice companies often process wheat in their fields or factories, for super-sensitive folks, rice can be tainted.
  5. I have had another test that it is similar. I am positive that it helped me. I suggest you try to avoid any foods you have any antibodies too. IF you don't know what to eat, I would go to the grocery store and look for foods you have never eaten. I would point you to Teri Cochrane's book, The Wildetarian Diet. She has an online symptom survey to help...
  6. Greetings old friends and new folks. At one time I had lost all of my swelling (after avoiding all foods I had antibodies to). After that I added many foods back in. Shortly thereafter I began to swell back up and for some reason, I missed the problem. Finally I had gone from 155 lbs to 203 lbs (No sweets) and I turned to my health providers to solve...
  7. I am a little lot late here. I would check into the work OF Suzy Cohenn and Isabella Wentz who themselves had thyroid issues and have healed. They have many good ideas how to heal.
  8. Thanks so much: I am sorry to say that they did not check her for celiac even though I pointed out that I have it and it is genetic and linked to diabetes. They said they would check, but they didn't. Since she is grown up and moved on, all I can hope is that she will recognize symptoms if they come upon her.

    Help :(

Yes, I had to do more than gluten free for other food sensitivities and get foods from companies free of gluten and soy. A wild diet (see Teri Cochrane's work) has finally seemed to solve all of my issues. I wish you well on your journey. Dee
  10. I just stopped in to say that as of last May, I think I am 6 years gluten free. I have both celiac and super-sensitive allergies to gluten. I can get really sick just by holding a vial of gluten in an enclosed jar. Home has been gluten free and I am feeling quite well and am working with my diet carefully omitting everything possibly cross contaminated...
  11. My household has been gluten free for about 5 years now (or was it 6?) Since I had super-sensitive allergies to gluten all shared kitchen meals have been gluten free. Most of the children ate here every meal before they grew up and moved on. My youngest biological daughter began to eat outside often the last year and after that got married and moved out...
  12. Yes, I recommend only buying professional product supplements when you need them and carefully checking their gluten certification (and soy if you need to). Buy products that are tested independently. My diet is adequate, but my absorption takes quite a while to heal. Can't wait to get back off the supplements. I was healed, but this can happen to anyone...
  13. Thank you both. With the help of my nurse, I recently I tried Vitamin B injections which seemed to help me. Finally my ferritin level doubled + and I got this prickly sensation in my legs and arms. I think that was cells taking in nutrients. I used herbs recommended by my physician and supplemented with selenium and vitamin E. Upon retesting (after about...
  14. Oops well I blew it big time. I failed to carefully read a supplement label. I saw that the company selling it said that it was gluten/soy free, but the ingredient list clearly showed that it wasn't. I took it for 200 days. I and my health care triangle couldn't figure out why I was swelling/ and gaining weight big time. The problems didn't stop there...
  15. Update: No more need for adrenal support! When I first saw the functional medicine nurse a few years back, I had just begun to take adrenal support supplements. People warned me these were habit forming and my tolerance and dependence on them would increase. Still, my providers all 3 concurred that I needed them. I had been on up to 6 per day two summers...
  16. How long have you been on the trek now Mossemalibu?
  17. hmmm numbness, me too. Thanks for writing! Would love to correspond, if I could.
  18. Go Ninja! The Lord can carry us when we are babies and when we are old and gray hair, and you ain't there yet!
  19. Amazing, Mamaw can comment when it says 0 views!
  20. At the grocery store the other day, I checked out the meats. I noticed a package of turkey breast, which I use to frequently buy before I found out I had allergies to it. I absently passed on by.. I got a few feet away and stopped dead. "Wait" I told myself; I can have turkey! I turned and took a couple of steps back. Oh, right, I thought as I turned away...
  21. Thanks for the idea. I missed it til now. I eat small amounts of honey again as I have been treated for allergies to it. We have our own bees and are planting buckwheat. The bees will really like it. We had buckwheat before and the field just buzzed with bees. I use to enjoy buckwheat a lot, but I ate that with leaky gut and have not been treated for...
  22. Keep up the good work. I am glad to hear you are making progress. I stick with foods that are not processed. If you are being bothered by foods that should not bother you, you may have to check with each company before buying. One would have to check to be sure they didn't have gluten (or some other food you are sensitive to before purchasing their product...
  23. I wish you well with your discoveries and recoveries. Dee
  24. I do 27 carbs to 2-3 oz of protein as well as 1 TBSP fat per meal at least 3 times a day. These numbers were recommended by my chiropractor that has been trained in nutrition. You can eat more than that, but the proportions should stay the same. I also suggest that digestive enzymes can help break down your food until your body can heal. Dee
  25. I am so glad you were able to get help and wish you the very best in healing. Dee
