  1. I did take Ferritin. My levels had been low( even though I was supplementing) before going gluten free. I believe that the gluten free diet and digestive enzymes were a key for me to get them. When the ferritin level came up, I could breath better. A pressure I felt in my head went away. Dee
  2. Oddly enough (in spite of not tolerating many foods) I can eat eggs and strawberries! These are great gifts for me.
  3. I have many doctors involved with my care both conventional and natural. Conventional doctors offer only "that is a great mystery." Whereas Functional Medicine can get to the roots of things and solve them. I would be peri-menoupause to be clearer. The average age for menopause is 51 and I am 51.. That is what I meant by at the age. If one's...
  4. My Older daughter wouldn't try my homemade gluten free buns. One day, I coached my 9 year-old-daughter through making them. When the older daughter heard that her younger sister made them, she knew she had to try them and be a good sport besides. From that day on my older daughter ate the gluten free items and liked them.
  5. I am dealing with heavy periods, but this started before diagnosis. I am at the time for menopause in my life. I have had infertility 17 years. I was diagnosed with celiac 2 years back. My doctors have recently discovered I have an ovarian cyst and uterine fibroid. I believe my functional medicine nurse attributes these to too much estrogen. I have...
  6. Congratulations and have fun! I have an extra size 2 soccer ball if you need it! Dee
  7. One year later: Back to those foods I didn't have antibodies to again. I am really feeling better again. It is so strange, I didn't have my fatigue and mind fog, but other symptoms like inflammation just seemed to increase. I am thankful for the help I have from a functional medicine nurse. She sometimes admits she was wrong! BUT I am recovering after...
  8. This diet list, or a similar one helped my bladder issues. Unfortuneatly, I did not know to also cut gluten. I still have issues with my bladder on occasion around my period. This is a list I found on the internet. Sorry I lost the link. I saw another site that mentioned gluten, but lost it when I needed to leave google. 1: Cranberry Juices &...
  9. I am struggling with food prep. How many times lately have I had the family sit down to eat, before realizing that I forgot to prepare my meat or vegetable! Oops.
  10. My current plan to eat no foods that I had antibodies to is still going well. I haven't been sick. My swelling is going down.
  11. About 1 1/2 years ago I did a food antibody test to see if I could find some safe foods for me to use and any I should not use. The tests searched for Igg and IgA antibodies made by the body to combat foods that it evidently thinks are invading it. The tests showed me several surprises: Buckwheat threatened my body the hardest! (I was already off gluten...
  12. We heavily discussed my having celiac, special diet in an appointment I had with a medical caregiver. I was sent home with a printout that said to consume whole wheat for to make my health good. One more thing. I asked they not use KY jelly. Whether it was unpurpose or inadvertant, I can't say. However, lets just say that something tells me that they...
  13. Great work. I hope all works well with your mother's diet. Wow~ on your Grade point Average. Doing better and better overall. Dee
  14. I actually think that even feeling worse is a good reaction. I think it is because your body is actually working on healing. I know it isn't comfortable, but many times I found my highest highs shortly followed after my lowest lows. After a real long time traveling the opposite way, you have traveled one month in the right direction! I am sure you...
  15. The event will be in the Celiac.com forum Chat room. This week we plan to talk about setting up a rotational diet. We can also talk about other topics we wish to discuss or urgent matters for the persons that come. To get there. Go...
  16. I use a full can and 10 frozen berries, but I save some for later. Oh, and frozen fruit makes it like a shake. I say, add whatever sounds good to you. A forth of banana may sweeten if you need it.
  17. 1 can coconut milk 10 strawberries 1 Tbsp raw honey blend for a smoothie, This gives a pleasantly full feeling to me. Omit the honey if you can!
  18. When I was 19 I fell ill with mononucleosis. From than on I carried what seemed like 100 lbs of fatigue on my back. I tried many natural ways to relieve and energize me. You see that I tried to take care of a large family. Yet, sometimes it seemed that it took more energy to make a meal than I got out of the meal. I felt tired, but the doctor said, "Of coarse...
  19. Well, I found that tummy again after eating squash, evidently my body has something against that!
  20. It sounds like you will be able to test it much later when you feel like rocking the boat. Trouble is, if you are like me, you never want to rock the boat!
  21. I recently started on glutamine to help to heal my leaky gut. I had been experiencing general inflammation and that is what the doctor said to do. Love it when my body gets dramatic. But, my tummy is now shrinking so fast that I don't know how to stand right. I stick out my tummy in order so that it will look "normal" to me, but I give myself a back ache...
  22. I say that I am back from Nowhere. Actually I existed right here. I stayed mostly in a house. Everyday I woke up in the morning and felt as exhausted as when I lay down the night before. Throughout the day I dragged my feet and used my cloudy mind to think of ways to make life seem easy again. I placed my refrigerator on cement blocks. I could reach the lower...
  23. Great Happy Cycling! Just watch out for ice. Or don't you live in the bullseye of the current snow storm as I do?
  24. For now, I don't think I could. I get sick if I sit in a restaurant. I can't eat gluten or corn or eat in a kitchen that uses them. I also have many other intolerances, so what can a restaurant do for me? Give me a socket out back to plug my skillet in?
  25. Some people test negative to the blood tests but have a positive endoscopy. I would suggest you look at the Newbie thread incase you may be missing gluten which causes your symptoms. You should be healed after so long on the diet which means that your endoscopy may be negative if you are not getting enough gluten. You might try moving this to the coping...
