Hi Suepooh4!
I actually live here in Myrtle Beach....and while I can't say that I've ventured out very much to eat. There are certainly many options that you can have. I usually try the local (not chain) restaurants and find that they are much more willing to help you than some of the other more well-known places. There is an Outbuck, however, I've been hearing some mixed things lately about their gluten-free menu. Do you know what part or area that you're going to be staying/living/moving (whichever) to? I can give you a good idea of what places are in that area that you can call!

i am strangely hooked too!!!!
-
it definately makes you wonder, hey why not go ahead and eat that yummy pizza...or that magically fluffy hamburger bun...don't worry...i haven't done anything drastic!!! but it sure makes you want to since you already feel like crap!
-
I've attempted the removing from dairy from the diet...it's strange...some days i can eat tons of ice cream and be completely fine, cheese...you name it, i'm golden...other days it seems to upset me...i talked to my doctor back at the beginning of this and he said it wasn't that......something about my bad vs. good bacteria being out of wack and taking medicine. which i'm horrible about taking medicine...but i'm trying!!
i try the unprocessed foods thing too, but it's pretty expensive and i'm struggling with finances right now...i used to eat a lot of rice but that bothered my stomach...the liquid thing could be a problem. i never thought of that, i drink more soda than I probably should with the amount of food that i actually take in...the carbination could be negatively affecting my stomach.
i just want to be normal

I'm really confused right now. I feel like anytime I eat anything my body rejects it. I put on a pair of gray pants that I bought a little bit ago, size 4, (i used to be a steady size 8 or 6) and they're hanging off of me. I ate lunch and my body rejected it and my stomach still hurts...it's almost like no matter what I eat, good or bad, my body doesn't keep it down. If it isn't a huge gas bubble upseting my stomach, it's explosive D...and I'm really careful about what I eat that I barely eat at all anymore just to at least try to feel somewhat normal, which i haven't since i was diagnosed 3 1/2 years ago...I feel like I"ll have spans of 2-3 months where I feel really good and have little to no problems and then 6 months where every day is a struggle...I don't have much if any health coverage, so I really don't know what to do.....Recently I've posted several questions on here and get little or no one responding...I hope this time is different, I'm really scared about this...
Today I packed my lunch...had some american cheese with oscar meyer honey ham...I thought that was on the "ok"list and the ingrediants seemed ok, but maybe that's the culprit for todays' issue..i don't know

Nini-
You just got me so pumped about an actually biscuit that doesn't taste like playdough....we've ALL had a playdough biscuit at least once during this gluten-free experience. I'm buying a few mixes now! Thank you!
LOL! Thanks for the observation! Yes, I am a self described "foodie" and am passionate about good food, when I find something that is extraordinary I want to tell the world about it! I haven't tried the pan bars (never was a pan bar fan) but I may just have to try them.I really try to focus on what yummy foods CAN I have, rather than what can't I have. I'm fortunate that my local health food store is really really good about constantly ordering new gluten-free products to try. (oh and it doesn't hurt that my hubby WORKS there so I get to find out pretty quickly when they get something new in!) A lot of times the grocery manager will send home some of the new products for me to sample before she brings them in! Some of the things have been downright nasty, so she didn't bring them in! But for the most part there have been some really good discoveries made this way!

I'm going to Japan for a week in December and wanted to know if anyone had an experience good or bad...I'm slightly nervous about it!
anyone know how to say no gluten in Japanese?
-
no just a normal bag, phew thanks!!!
-
i have many days where my body randomly reacts to something negatively....like milk...sometimes salmon, sometimes even rice!!! and then other times I don't have any problems at all! could've just been one of those days! hope you're feeling better
-
no worries...you aren't alone, i can't tell you the amount of times i've just grabbed something quick forgetting and either JUST caught myself before biting a pretzel or spit it out...not that that helps...it's hard to remember and be careful all the time, but hey at least you're eating out!!! I won't even do that anymore. hope you feel ok!

Starburst are gluten free right? I just ate like an entire bag...
-
well that is fantastic! at least this explains what the heck is up with my stomach!! thanks!!
any ideas other than immodium and Ursula's suggestion...which would be beneficial if I lived anywhere remotely close to a natural or health food store...yes there are actually downsides to living at the beach! who knew!
-
So basically last night I did the same old thing...had my dinner , nothing out of the ordinary about it...only last night I had Barqs Root Beer...now maybe this will be solved quickly and someone will tell me that it isn't gluten free...but my stomach is killing me today...and honestly, I don't want to take immodium everytime that i feel like i have a bubble of gas in my stomach because my biggest fear is that my body will stop reacting to the immodium...and that's a scary thought! I'm sure you can all relate! So my question is, can we have pepto or anything else when we are feeling "glutened" without the D symptoms? I had been feeling so great for the past two weeks toO!

I eat nut thins everyday, they're my absolute favorite...and if you aren't careful...you could eat a whole box!!! I've never had a reaction to them but I have heard of some people having some...

After many efforts in educating the restaurant world and while some experiences at places are very good...I have discontinued eating out...I just get so tired of everyone making a big deal out of what I eat or when I don't eat that I've just removed myself from that situation entirely. At a press conference recently, Chick-Fil-A sponsors it, I trust them but instead of the boxes they give I get salad....and someone every week says WHY DO YOU GET A SALAD...and I say, lets' just say, short story, I can't eat wheat...of course they think I say meat and say "SO WHY ARE YOU EATING CHICKEN" ...oh gluten people...I may wear my wheat sucks shirt every wednesday so there is no longer a question!
-
whats reglan? is that like immodium....
I touch non gluten-free food often and I just have becoming boarderling OCD about washing my hands, I'll keep hand sanitizers and handy wipes with me all the time...hey Grandma did it and she's pretty cool!! I'm bringing handy wipes back

I find that stress triggers certain stomach reactions for me as well...it's very frustrating especially when you're following your diet strictly...I've said several times "why do i follow this if I'm not going to feel any better" of course, I could always feel worse....
i've noticed that even though daily life makes it hard to decrease stress sometimes, taking 30 minutes out of your day to do something you love, walk, read, guitar...finding something that relaxs you and makes you step away from the stress causing item (items, people, whichever) really helps me get everything into perspective and relax...
When stress is family, it's usually more tricky...maybe explaining to them what is going on with you and asking for compromise will help your situation? If you don't feel confident doing this, I find that making myself less available to these toxic people, regardless of who they are, helps my mind at least...slowly things will start to fall into place, just hang in there!

i have yet to make an exciting pancake...i'll have to try this THANKS!

Rice drives my stomach crazy...I think my stomach just rejects normal food...like whoa, what do you think you're doing putting food that EVERYONE can eat in here! If I do feel risky and eat rice, I stick with Kraft, they've been pretty trustworthy!
-
I have found with Chebe pizza mix, which I use at least once a week, that you have to cook it FAR longer than the bag actually says...I also have to add more milk to get it to the proper consistancey (or milk substitute), I've always used the eggs so I can't speak on that part, but maybe next time if it still seems super gooey, just keep it cooking! Good luck!!

Several places have claimed that a few flavors of the Slim Fast drinks are gluten-free. Most recently I'd been drinking the Chocolate Royale drinks...not because I want to lose weight because my weight isn't an issue but sometimes because I just don't have time to eat and it is something to put in my stomach that was "safe" and quick...however, over the past two weeks I had one every morning...and for the past two weeks I have had some severe glutenious (new word I believe) reactions...that was the only thing in my diet that could've been considered "ify" even though I've checked on this product. I've been very careful these days with my diet after a year or so of the occasional cheating, I finally came to the realization that it truly isn't worth it (I know, I know...)
I suppose it could've been a cross contaminated batch or something but I'm done with the stuff, there's no need to feel horrible! I've heard that carnation instant breakfast are considered gluten free but honestly I'm tired of even risking it. Now I could have a developing issue with milk, it's give or take depending on the day and one milk product may bother me but another doesn't....SO if you're a daredevil....go for it...I agree that there are healthier ways to lose weight however I feel that as long as you follow the diet and exercise it isn't "unhealthy", again just my opinion, each person feels differently based on expereinces. It's much better than Hydroxycut and those "quick fix" pills which are certainly bad for you.
As a substitute for the slimfast drinks I've been drinking those yogurts...talk about a healthier alternative and ironically the yogurt doesn't bother me, and yet it is milk......oh the joys of being a celiac.
Hope this helps!

The concern and why we're all so distraught is not about the taste it's that the new boxes of cocoa puffs coming out now say this:
"Boxes Dated Apr 2007 list WHEAT both in the ingredients and the allergy statement line"!
...I realize we're distraught because of the sudden addition to WHEAT at the bottom of the box. I simply meant by my earlier comment....why re-add the wheat? The taste between the first formula and the non gluten free formala was hardly noticeable, so I'm confused as to how this addition of the wheat is considered more popular for their customers, when I honestly believe that most people who aren't gluten free probably never even noticed the change in the formula! I knokw my friends and family certainly didn't, they were even suprised that there was no noticeable change in the taste of cocoa puffs...
-
I mean...did anyone even notice a difference in taste? They didn't make THAT drastic a change that it was substaintially noticeable.....that's ridiculous
-
This seems ridiculous to me...however, I got sick off of the "gluten-free" cocoa-puffs and trix so I just left them alone. I figured I'd go back later and try once they'd been considered gluten free for awhile, there goes that idea...I often wonder what justification these companies use for the wheat starch and the malt flavoring, if someone could just stick with a gluten free cereal, they'd make a good bit of money because I know we'd all buy in bulk!

Are regular Klondike Bars gluten free? The label seems ok, but I just wanted to know if anyoone had any experience with them?
