  1. they just say that they can't be 100% positive that it is gluten free to avoid the hassle.....most all yougurt is normally considered gluten free....dannon just apparently is like that...i eat the activia and i do fine with it, it's supposed to help regulate your digestive tract which could be why you didn't fell well.....however there is a brand of the same type of regulating yogourt out but i don't remember what it's called....someone i'm sure will post it on here.

i'm sorry you didn't fell well!

  2. Just wanted to let anyone know in the central PA area that there is a new store called i Believe Gluten-free source, llc.......i was just there today and it is great! they have so many different options and even a frozen section with foods from grainless baker and glutenfreeforme......they're going to soon have a website up and running where you can order online, when that comes out i'll send it out on here. but anyone within the area i highly suggest looking it up and heading out there!!!

  3. i wasn't saying that steroids are given to help with my celiac. there are other issues going on that are causing problems with my stomach and steroids is aparently the solution. I'm not a doctor and I don't really claim to be, Mine if trustworthy and i listen to him.....i just know that steroids in general cause people to gain weight and that my stomach is messed up thanks due to celiac disease. see the connection.

  4. has anyone ever been put on steroids by their GI to help cope with stomach problems after being gluten free for awhile?? I'm very concerned with gaining excess weight that comes with the whole beginning steroids and just wanted to know if anyone has experience with this and advice? thanks!

  5. i was diagnosed by the blood test and i've done significantly much better on the gluten free diet than before......however, if you're on a gluten free diet and haven't had any gluten there really is no need for the blood test, because your antibody levels would be back to normal......i'm suprised the bloodtest was that traumatic to begin with, i'm sorry about that!! guess the little one doesn't like needles so much...i'd keep her on the diet and just not redo the blood test.....better all around for everyone

  6. The biggest shocker that i've had yes not including twizzlers.............IHOP and other places put pancake batter in their egg mix....you'd think you'd be safe with eggs but NO they put this in their eggs to make their omletes look fluffier.........

i never understood why i got sick......even cater places do this so be careful!

  7. it's not that i even expect them to care about the celiac disease....but in general, to make fun of a customer.....i mean working in fast food is a people oriented job, so i'm just sayin if you don't like people you don't have to work there....

i'm a bartender and it'd be like me laughing and rolling my eyes saying "no salt? who doesn't put salt on the rim of their margarita"

hahah i mean obviously i wouldn't do that because it's ridiculous, but i mean for some people no bun isn't a random request. them just taking it off the bun isn't really what i'm annoyed about, i realize that's a whoooole different issue.

  8. Now normally I wouldn't complain about it and in the past I haven't.....I guess this just hit me on the wrong day.

I'm going to right headquarters of Wendy's about the way their employees react to a "no bun" request, this is the 4th wendy's in as many states that have to my face laughed when i ask for no bun. even though the sign on their menu says "counting the carbs? order with no bun!"

the girl who was putting the burgers together looked at me, laughed and rolled her eyes and took the bun off the burger and into a baked potato holder. I looked at the manager, who was standing right next to her and said, ma'am i'm allergic to wheat, i can't just have it be taken off the bun i need the burger not to touch the bread..........the manager then rolled her eyes and changed the burger.

only then to receive no ketchup and they put onions on it after a no onions request, i'm allergic to onions but i didn't even care i just took them off.

now i understand that this probably happens a lot and that's fine, i'm not as sensitive as many people are so if they just take it off the bun it won't mess me up as much as i know it does other people. My problem is that they openly made fun of me....probably thought i was someone on the atkins diet. which by the way if i were i'd still be offended by their behavior.

i realize this may be a lost cause but i'm just tryin to get some respect as a human being.

    eesh

  9. ok Utz...i've seen their factory. the risk for cross contamination is very little, they have seperate belts for seperate things. if they say it is gluten free on the bag . Utz is a company that is very very reliable, I know many of the people high up in the company because I'm from that town....I'm not saying that you didn't get glutened however, are you sure it couldn't have been something else?

  10. well i'll step it up.....i've cheated, several times......if i have a free weekend where i don't have to do anything i would cheat. however, i've been having some other health problems on top of everything and i haven't cheated in a month...trying to keep up the trend......but i tell you what...sometimes that sub or piece of pizza really was worth it.

  11. June 06.....i hid that box up in the top cabinet for when i have guests. ha.

but like i said, my reaction to the "gluten free" cocoa puffs was rough.....i'm 0 for 2.....i think i'll try ONE more time when i have some extra days to lay around and then decide if i'll believe the whole safe for us again.....

i imagine the cross contamination factor would be really high considering the product itself used to contain ingrediants that we can't have..

  12. ok vincent. ha, i have the box in my hand........it says 20% more FREE, now with a new more chocolately taste.

ingrediants : CORN (WHOLE GRAIN CORN, MEAL) SUGAR, CORN SYRUP, MODIFIED CORN STARCH, COCOA PROCESSED WITH ALKALI, CANOLA AND/OR RICE BRAN OIL, CARAMEL AND BEET JUICE CONCENTRATE COLOR, SALT, FRUCTOSE, CALCIUM CARBONATE, TRICALCIUM PHOSPHATE, CORN STARCH, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, TRISODIUM PHOSPHATE, ZINC AND IRON (MINERAL NUTRIENTS), VITAMIN C (SODIUM ASCORBATE) AB VITAMIN (NIACINAMIDE) VITAMIN B6 (PYRIDOXINE HYDROCHLORIDE), VITAMIN B2 (RIBOFLAVIN), VITAMIN B1 (THIAMIN MONONITRATE) AB VITAMIN (FOLIC ACID) VIATMIN B12-vITAMIN E (MIXED TOCOPHEROLS AND BHT ADDED TO PRESERVE FRESHNESS

OK PHEW......see, i'm not crazy. haha as for the date, it says better if used by 22SEP06

    and boom goes the dynamite...

  13. I'm in WV and found the cocoa puffs...........i'm from PA and also found them there..from my understanding at this point the only box of trix that don't have wheat startch at the bottom are the small ones in the three packs with cocoa puffs and something else........unless that new 75% more box doesn't have it, i wouldn't know about that......i haven't found the trix thing yet, just cocoa puffs.

but even with that, i've tried them twice and both times gotten pretty sick.....could be coincidence, could've been something else.....either way, something went down with my stomach that was not a good time.

i'm just the mesenger here, i got the emails, passed along the information, tried it out for myself....and found myself feeling pretty icky, but also, cocoa puffs and the chocolatey sugary, blech......that could've been the reason my stomach killed.

But on this message board, no one is trying to make anyone feel stupid or step on anyone's toes...vydorscope and i have been debating this cereal thing for a few days now and never once have i felt that he was being rude.....it's a message board......about cereal. let's keep the emotions to a minimum....unless you are super pumped about cereal, then feel free to share your happy dance moves in the grocery isle so maybe we can try them ourselves :)

  14. I found boxes that seemed to be gluten free, and their website isn't updated, which i posted when i posted the emails....now i tried to cocoa puffs twice and had a reaction both times, but the ingrediants seem clear. i understand you not wanting to believe my information, i'm just puttin it out there, it's up to you......i'm sure we'll know more about this as the older boxes are leaving the shelves and new shipments show up .

  15. Here are some of the e-mails.....aparently General Mills has stated yes, these are gluten free

Actually, I have called General Mills to inquire about the gluten-free status

of Cocoa Puffs...and I did this before making the initial posting.

I have been waiting to have a box of Trix that appears to be gluten-free on

hand before I call General Mills, so that I can verify the correct bar

code, expiry date, etc., as they have needed this information when I

contacted them about the Islandberry Crunch and Cocoa Puffs cereals.

    C

I haven't called but I have the cocoa puffs here in the house and they are as gluten-free as any other gluten-free thing we have on our shelf. The website still has the old ingredients list. I'm assuming that this is because some of the old packages are still on the shelf? My son has been eating them since Saturday and has had absolutely no reaction. Well, except that sugar high. ;-)

    God Bless.

I did, Laura, contact General Mills. I made sure before I posted it to the board. I have

not, though, phoned about Trix because I don't have a box with the

correct bar code, expiry date, etc.

You just have to check each box by reading the ingredients, just to

    make sure.

Thank you for contacting General Mills regarding gluten in our our cereal.

It is our goal to help our consumers determine whether or not they can include our products in their diet. To accurately accomplish this, we believe it is best to refer to the specific ingredients listed on each product package.

However, we do understand that ingredients can be confusing, so we want to assure you if the ingredient label does not list wheat, barley, rye, oats or gluten containing ingredients sourced from these grains, then the product would be gluten-free. Sources of gluten are listed on the label even if the source of gluten is part of another ingredient (such as flavoring or spice). Because ingredients may vary from one package to another due to product reformulation, you should use the product’s ingredient label to provide you with current and accurate information.

Additional information regarding gluten may be obtained by contacting your health care professional or:

so basically cocoa puffs and trix are gluten free and you have to be VERY careful and read the box!!!!!!!

  16. I'm a member of the SillyYaks yahoo group , there were a ton of email's sent out about it, of course like a dummy i deleted them. I'm sure there are some members of that group in here that might have the emails. I believe we're waiting from a response from general mills but the new cocoa puff and trix boxes do not list wheat starch as an ingrediant.

let's just keep our fingers crossed that the big time companies are finally hooking us up....i'll try to keep y'all posted about this when i hear any new info
