  1. You have a lot of options when it comes to alcohol. I know Bacardi rum is gluten-free (I contacted the company). I do not question wine (personal choice).

However, you may want to stop drinking for a little while to help your body heal. I have noticed that I no longer can drink as much as I used to. Someone noted that this may be due to the fact that my body is finally absorbing the alcohol :P

  2. Since you keep getting glutened I would say that your body may not have had enough time. Does this make sense? I have heard from my doctor that over time I may not be as "sensistive" to gluten as I am now. But if I kept having cc issues than I might wonder if I have had enough time to heal. I hope I am making sense. I guess I am looking at the glass half full not half empty. Maybe you just need more time.

  3. I have similar issues. I have started to demonize the gluten. Not just in my head but out loud. My friends think I am nuts (this is nothing new, they thought that before my dx). I also know how sick it will make me. I really do think this is the hardest part, the emotional.

  4. I could not handle milk after going gluten-free. It really messed me up. I have been gluten-free since April and have just recently started adding milk back into my diet. When I do have milk I take one of those lactose pills as well. That really seems to help. Never had any other issues with dairy (yogurt, cheese, sour cream) just milk.

Also when I first was gluten-free I kept thinking I was having a reaction to things that I knew were gluten-free. Now, I think it was the healing process. Sometimes I would feel great and other times lousy but it did not have anything to do with what I was eating.

    Hope you feel better soon.

  5. Lollie,

I have found that the majority of cheese is gluten-free. However, after my dx and going gluten-free I noticed I could not tolerate dairy very well. Could this be the problem? It is very common for celiacs (especially after dx) to not tolerate dairy well. I have also read that some celiacs after going gluten-free notice they have intolerences to other food. I have just recently been adding more dairy back into my diet. I have been gluten-free for almost 10 months! There was an excellent article written in the magazine Gluten Free Living on blue cheese. It was pretty technical and very interesting. The long and short of it is that most blue cheese is safe.

  6. A friend asked the other day how I was doing. I have been gluten-free since April and feeling good since September. I could honestly say I felt great physically. The emotional side is an ongoing battle for me. I hate being different  This disease makes me feel different. I have to bring my own food to family functions. Or I have to ask 50 questions if we go to a friends house. It is just such a pain! I guess I am not helping you, sorry :( It's just I know how you are feeling. I feel the same way.

  7. For the first couple of weeks after going gluten-free all I did was gluten-free frozen food. It just seemed so overwhelming. Then I became more comfortable with the diet and started going to the grocery store. It was so hard. I kept seeing all the food I could not have. After coming home and sobbing I made a decision. I was not going to the store. I made my husband go! I would make up a list and research the safe products. He would go with the cell phone and call if he had questions. After four months enough time had passed that I started going again. It was still sad at times but it did not feel as overwhelming.

  8. I had to smile when I saw this topic :P Just the other day I was thinking (as I was making my lunch) how much time I spend planning, buying and preparing my meals. It boggles the mind what a time sink this is! I kept thinking what if I had to pack a lunch everyday? I think I might loose it! For now I am a stay at home mom so I don't need to worry about the packing. At least now I have an excuse why the house is not clean, I really don't have the time

  9. Your Dad was probably diagnosed because he was outside of the US! The US really lags behind other countries when it comes to celiac knowledge and diagnosis. I hope your test goes well and you get the answers you are searching for.

    Welcome to the board :)

Here is a link to go to for where to eat in Disneyland. It is the basic information that I got over the phone Open Original Shared Link. Keep in mind this is for Disneyland in CA.

The only thing new is the mexican restarant in Frontier Land now has a celiac menu. Ask for it when you go in. All of the Disneyland hotels have gluten-free options as well. There did not seem to be as many options in California Adventure. None of the resturants in between Disneyland and California Adventure are run by Disney. So eating there is like eating anywhere else, risky.

    Hope you have fun!
