  1. Then you most likely need to call the doctor’s office or lab. There is no way to guess. I assume the most common celiac test is the TTG versions. It catches most celiacs but not all. I test positive to only the DGP. Some celiacs are seronegative. I think it is about 10%.
  2. I do not know what these mean. There are three types of blood tests for celiac disease with both IgA and IgG versions. Plus, different labs have different ranges. So, we would need to see the lab ranges. Anti-tissue transglutaminase (tTG) Anti-endomysium (EMA) Anti-deamidated gliadin peptides (DGP)
  3. I am not sure what you mean by a morphine high. My experience on the drug morphine after surgery was pain elimination and sleepiness. No euphoria. You had two positives on the TTG IgA. I can share that I never have had positives on the TTG or EMA. I only test positive on the DGP IgA. So, do not discount your TTG test results. It was good that...
  4. Welcome! I get the stress and anxiety! It is a common symptom of celiac disease which is systemic. It can definitely impact your brain. So what to do? Learn a few coping skills and try to reduce some stress in your life. Focus on healing and let some things go. Ask for others to help you temporarily. As you heal, your anxiety will diminish...
  5. Please do not get discouraged if your antibodies are still elevated. Mine were elevated for over a year (beyond the lab ranges). That is very common. A month in is just too soon to heal. Your doctor should be checking at three or six months out and not four or six weeks: http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/faq/how-often-should-follow-up-testing-occur...
  6. Okay, the information based on what you provided earlier (13 positive) seems to indicate that she needs to be elevated by a Gastroenterologist. She has a positive on the DGP IgA, which is like me. I have never had a positive on the EMA or the TTG even in follow up testing. The celiac tests are not perfect. It is one reason why there are several. Do not...
  7. Sure. The antibodies testing for celiac disease was developed to help in diagnosing celiac disease. It was not intended as a follow-up test to determine dietary compliance or a measurement of healing. However, it is the “only tool in the toolbox”, so it is being used. In theory, the small intestine can heal fast. Unfortunately, most people do ...
  8. I would avoid it. I am careful about anything that goes on my hands, lips and face that could be accidentally ingested. Setting off a celiac flare up would probably impact healing from surgery. Ask your doctor for a substitute. From my quick research vitamin e does not prevent scarring. https://www.verywellhealth.com/remedy-for-scars-and-scar...
  9. Chaber, If you have celiac disease, you should receive follow-up care. Your doctor can tell if you are deficient in anything. Things like bone scans or a thyroid check should be done, if needed. Here is a checklist for recommended follow up care: https://celiac.org/celiac-disease/resources/adult-celiac-disease-follow-checklist/ I was severely...
  10. Hummm....I have some ocean front real estate in Arizona that I could sell you. Seriously, this is a multi-level marketing company like the following companies: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_multi-level_marketing_companies Save your money. Want to safely eat fruit and veggies? Go buy them in the produce section of your market or...
  11. Which IgA was it (and the lab range)? Anti-tissue transglutaminase (tTG) Anti-endomysium (EMA) Anti-deamidated gliadin peptides (DGP) It only takes one positive on any of these three tests to further investigate (e.g. biopsies via endoscopy).
  12. While your severe headaches could be related to your untreated disease, it could be something else. Please get to your doctor.
  13. I use a thermos to keep food warm while at school or work. Worth the $20 investment!
  14. Yes, celiac disease has been linked to pancreatitis. Consider asking your doctor for a complete celiac blood panel: http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/screening/ I hope your son feels better soon!
  15. I know nothing about this subject and I am not a doctor, but I found this interesting while drinking my morning coffee. If you are unsure about your doctor’s diagnosis of Lyme disease, I would suggest getting a second opinion from a clinician who has some Lyme disease expertise. What made you go to the doctor when he/she ordered this test? ...
  16. Sure you could have celiac disease. There are over 200 symptoms attributed to celiac disease. Some celiacs have none! Get a complete celiac panel if possible. Why? Because if my doctor had not ordered the complete panel, my diagnosis would have been missed. I test positive to only the DGP IgA and I am biopsy confirmed. I presented with autoimmune...
  17. The TTG can be elevated for many reasons. This is from an old celiac.com member who has celiac disease and is a doctor. She references the University of Chicago: http://www.jessicamaddenmd.com/JESS-Blog/May-2017/The-Alphabet-Soup-of-Celiac-Blood-Testing
  18. No. So, with a couple of negative celiac blood panels and a negative biopsies, celiac disease was ruled out at the time. I was trying to point out that had she searched for a diagnosis on the internet without consulting with medical doctors, her diagnosis would never have been caught because she did not have classic Crohn’s symptoms. Your e...
  19. I am sorry, my intent was not to imply that you have Crohn’s. I was trying to point out that trying to diagnose yourself could be dangerous. Not everyone fits into a “box” of symptoms. Not all doctors are perfect, but they do have years of training. I am glad that you have found relief from eliminating lactose from your diet. It might be just ...
  20. My niece has Crohn’s. The only symptom she had was occasional abdominal pain. Nothing else. We thought for sure she had celiac disease, but a pill camera caught the damage located out of reach of both scopes. Do not assume you do not have Crohn’s, let your doctor do that. http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/faq/could-you-have-positive-blood-work-and...
  21. I am so sorry. Please get copies of all your lab tests, GI’s report and the pathologist’s report. It might be time to get a second opinion and you will want everything in hand during the consultation. You need to know where the biopsies were taken, and did the pathogist even look for celiac disease? How many were taken in the stomach, small intestine and...
  22. My favorite is Breyers plain vanilla. I contains the least amount of added junk. But I like the chocolate and chocolate mint chip. It is tested and complies with the 20 ppm. https://www.breyers.com/us/en/gluten-free-ice-cream.html https://www.verywellfit.com/gluten-free-ice-cream-562453 Edys or Dreyers is made by Nestle. They disclose...
  23. Try going through the DH section of the forum. Read Squirmingitch’s about coping tips for flare ups. Read the link she gave on this thread. I can only add that you must be super strict with your diet. Applying ice compresses can help with the itching. Do you have celiac disease? Are you sure you are dealing with DH? So many rashes are s...
  24. I do not have issues with corn, so I take normal OTC antihistamines that are gluten free, but those often contain cornstarch as a binder. Consider trying a compounding pharmacy. They can make you one without corn. Pour Nedi pots are invaluable. They do help!
