  1. Ah, it sounds like you did not get a complete celiac blood panel. Older people and small babies often test better on the DGP IgA vs. the standard screening TTG tests. I should know, I test positive to only the DGP IgA. I have neuropathy too. No deficiencies. It has improved by the diet. All my autoimmune (have three) has improved on a gluten free diet...
  2. It sounds like you have done your homework. Why ask your original question?
  3. Oh, I am sorry to hear about the chronic dizziness. My husband has had bouts of vertigo. It is not pleasant. Please accept my apologies. No wonder you sound anxious. Dealing with dizziness! Yuck! Good thing you are seeing an optometrist. It is a good place to start. Use the forum search button. I think plenty of people here have...
  4. Ok. So old but not so old. The small intestine can heal pretty fast. And it depends on where your damage is located because things are absorbed and processed in different areas. Just think of the benefit you have with this forum. You are getting great advice which is probably helping you to feel faster (you have seen some improvement, right?). Think...
  5. I think most old timers recommend avoiding oats for the first few months. Why? Because that was the advice given out by the celiac centers years ago. Once you feel better, you can experiment and see if you tolerate certified (purity grown) oats. I also push for real food and to avoid processed foods that contain ingredients that I can not even...
  6. See my other response to you. Take the multi. You bought them. They will not hurt and they may make you feel better. You are under a doctor’s care and seeing a dietician. Lucky you. If they were really worried about your health, they would have done more. Maybe you are pretty healthy and you do not need additional care. You are y...
  7. How old are you? What kind of damage did your biopsies revealed? The small intestine can literally heal in just a few weeks on a gluten free diet. But many people have systemic issues that take longer to resolve. They can have vitamin deficiencies, but not all do. If they do, they might be able to heal in a few weeks or months and then those deficiencies...
  8. My guess? The antibiotic. Repackaged in MD, but it was pressed into pill form form in India who procured raw materials from China because ALL the raw materials required to manufacture ALL generic antibiotics come from China and NO where else in the world.) Here is your pill (not sure of the dosage): https://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/lookup.cfm...
  9. I am sorry that you had a gluten exposure. Stay hydrated and rest. Hopefully, your autoimmune reaction resolves quickly.
  10. Google Hypersensitivity. Celiac disease is under the umbrella of hypersensitivity (Type 4). A grass allergy (assuming you do not mean marijuana) is a type 1 (IgE) hypersensitivity response. Both are related, but separate. It is all about the immune system. https://www.amboss.com/us/knowledge/Hypersensitivity_reactions I am allergic to...
  11. No, this particular blood pressure drug did cause villi damage and not because of gluten per the FDA. It affected people who did not have celiac disease. Just one of the many things that can cause villi damage. But in the case of the OP, it does not apply. Chances are gluten is getting into her diet or the test is not accurate, but the endoscopy should...
  12. What does your follow-up testing indicate? Are your celiac antibodies on a downward trend? If not, look to your diet and take Ennis’s valuable advice. If you have not seen a doctor lately, you should. Your symptoms could be something other than a gluten exposure.
  13. I agree with Scott. Please wear a mask (N-95). There seems to be evidence of inhaling grain particles: https://www.verywellhealth.com/suffering-symptoms-from-airborne-gluten-562332 Even with out evidence (who would pay for such a study), I would not risk it with Gluten ataxia. Although a small intestine can heal, nerves often do not.
  14. Great info, PB! 😊. I recall the Blood pressure medicine fiasco. Every drug, even OTC can have unwanted side effects.
  15. The endoscopy can be invaluable in adults. While it seems you caught the damage early (or it was further down in your small intestine beyond the reach of the scope) at least other things like Crohn’s or cancer were ruled out. Kids do not normal have GI cancer and Crohn’s usually starts in teens and not in small children. Opting out for an endoscopy is ...
  16. It could be DH. Hard to say based on a photo. Best to get it biopsied by a celiac-savvy dermatologist. (Make sure they biopsy correctly.) If you get retested (blood test), make sure you get the complete panel. Know that some celiacs are seronegative. In that case, intestinal or skin biopsies are needed. You have a sister who has celiac. Your chances...
  17. Good. I think you are supposed to get an eye exam every two years. At least I have to go in order to get my contact/glasses prescription renewed.
  18. That website is invaluable. I used it when hubby was having surgery. I looked up every med. the nurses were so good about it. The problem is hospitals use genetic and they literally can change suppliers daily. Luckily, that NDC code is printed on those tiny single dose packages. Wouldn’t it be nice if OTC and prescriptions drugs were easy to b...
  19. This helps: https://celiac.org/about-the-foundation/featured-news/2016/01/gluten-free-101-need-know/ I used to keep a list of ingredients to avoid with me all the time. I would pull it out if my wallet. Now it is on my phone, but with time, you memorize it. As a result even, my cosmetics are in fact gluten free. That is because I am so conditioned...
  20. Good. It even states it is gluten free! 😊
  21. Take this time to eat all your favorite foods. That is what I did. I literally ate a loaf of sourdough bread a day. I made cakes and cookies. I bought cakes and cookies. I ate donuts. And I handed out my opened packages to my friends and neighbors (I did not eat entire packages). By the time my endoscopy rolled around, I knew, without a doubt that...
  22. Your lab should/will provide ranges. One set for all ages, I think.
  23. @Posterboy What? Nothing in the two links in your response to Trents, indicates that SIBO can cause an elevated TTG. We already know that SIBO is often linked with celiac disease and that it can cause small intestinal damage. Over a dozen things can damage small intestinal villi. You need to respond to the OP (Original Poster’s) question and not d...
  24. There is some oversight, but not enough. Not like a prescription or OTC drug. I subscribe to Consumer Reports. While not perfect, they have blown the whistle on items like apple juice and rice containing too much arsenic. 1. “Manufacturers are not required to demonstrate to the government that their products are effective or safe before they a...
  25. Maybe I am misinterpreting the OP’s post. It certainly would not be the first time for me. 🤣. It sounds like she has been gluten free for 10 years and that her symptoms have not resolved. Why continue the gluten-free diet if it is not working? That in itself is strange. Let’s hope she comes back and provides more information.
