  1. Well, I think that normal levels of B-12 and iron, indicate that despite having celiac disease, you have been able to still absorb iron and B-12 or that your stores are sufficient. You could be deficient in other vitamins and minerals. That is possible. Even someone who does not have celiac disease could be deficient if they are not eating a healthy diet...
  2. I would stay the course the gluten-free diet. I had eye issues that resolved on the diet. It takes time to heal. Brain fog too. If your doctor is happy with your B-12 and iron levels, chances are he is satisfied that you are not deficient. You are probably still able to absorb your vitamins provided you eat a healthy diet. Were you...
  3. Whoa! Slow down, Scott and read! The OP has been gluten-free for 10 years. The past two months she has been dairy and grain free. Something is wrong!
  4. Hi! Genetic testing is used to help rule out celiac disease. That is because about 35% of the population has the celiac genes. That is a ton of people! Only a few actually go on to develop celiac disease. I am sorry that your were given such poor advice. If you do have celiac disease, you may have have developed other health issues. ...
  5. It should be marked on the side as “Gluten Free” in green. Breyer’s make ice cream in many factories. The gluten-free versions are made in dedicated factories. I can not see the label. It is gluten free in my area, but not sure in your area of the country. We consume lots of gluten-free Breyers ice cream. For example. In my area, we can n...
  6. You most likely have celiac disease. That number is very high (I think, but not sure the lab ranges were not provided). My lab does not measure above 200 and the cut-off is 20. Your result does not determine small intestinal damage accurately. This why an endoscopy is important. Your endoscopy and biopsy results will provide a benchmark for future measurement...
  7. Hey Kate! I am responding, but unfortunately I do not take any supplements. I can suggest a good dose of sunshine for Vitamin D. I did read this article this month about Vitamin D in the Readers Digest. Pretty interesting. https://www.magzter.com/article/Lifestyle/Readers-Digest-US/Do-We-Really-Need-Sun-Protection
  8. Welcome! While I am sorry that you have celiac disease (like me), I am happy to report that soon you will feel better. The gluten free diet is totally worth it. With time and patience, you will master the diet. I am not going to rehash a ton of information. This link does the job well. https://gluten.org/2019/12/14/getting-started-on-a...
  9. No! Antibodies can take over a year to normalize. You are doing just fine. Doctors look for a downward trend. Once normalized, if they become elevated again, it may be cause for concern. This link for a reputable celiac research center explains it well: https://celiacdiseasecenter.columbia.edu/celiac-disease/follow-up/ The celiac antibodies...
  10. @Posterboy It seems like you just looked at my response and the fact that GINAGF had been on an acid reducer for a month or so. She has not been on it for years potentially causing villi damage. She wanted to know why her TTG was elevated after it had not elevated for many years. I was letting her know that many things can cause a slightly elevated...
  11. Yes. As long as it has been cleaned well, I would use it. Not the same oil though, but maybe I am thinking of an actual fryer, not an air fryer. Be sure any racks are also cleaned well and all interior parts.
  12. No response from my email to them. Maybe out if business or closed because of the pandemic? My local Sprouts has only a few Pamela products left. I had to order flour from Bob’s Red Mill directly a few months ago for my family and a neighbor.
  13. Research Raynauds. My kid has this condition. It is autoimmune. It can stand on its own as a diagnosis or be afflicted with other autoimmune like Sjogrens. Know that you can develop more than autoimmune disease. Learn more: https://my.clevelandclinic.org/health/diseases/9849-raynauds-phenomenon My daughter gets blue toes and fingers...
  14. Celiac. You spelled it differently. I assume you are not from the US. Ask which tests were given. You might have just had the screening TTG which is good, but does not catch all celiacs. Know that about 10% of celiacs are seronegative. You might want to ask for more testing or for a GI consult, but you know your own circumstances. The diet...
  15. Why the Pepcide? At the time of my repeat endoscopy, my DGP IgA was greatly elevated (never ever had a positive on the TTG or EMA). The scope revealed a healed, healthy small intestine, (GI went in deep and you could see the villi on his scope), but found gastritis. Biopsies revealed Chronic Autoimmune Gastritis. AIG causes low acid, making...
  16. I think she has celiac disease. She had an elevated TTG after years of having normalized results.
  17. My only symptom was anemia when I was diagnosed. It resolved quickly on a gluten free diet. Years later, I was diagnosed with my third autoimmune disease — Chronic Autoimmune Gastritis (which can cause iron or B-12 deficiencies). This was found (Biopsy) during a Repeat endoscopy. My small intestine was healthy, but not my stomach. I learned that n...
  18. The most important thing is feeling good. I am glad the diet has helped you. My own hubby went gluten free over 20 years ago and never looked back. No formal diagnosis. We know that gluten makes him sick. Years later I was diagnosed with celiac disease. Both of us feel great. Take care.
  19. Welcome! Glad you decided to go gluten free! It can be difficult to master the gluten free diet, but eventually it will become normal. It is easier to avoid processed foods or at least limit your choices to those with very few ingredients (easier to read the label). Please post any questions within the forum. There is always someone who can help and...
  20. We use Dove Soap. It is gluten free (or free from wheat, barley and rye). They have a Baby version. Always read the label though. Member Jebby (aka The Patient Celiac — blog) is a Neonatologist (preemie doc). She uses all Dove products. But he could be allergic to any ingredient besides wheat. Does he get hives or eczema? Just water can b...
  21. Is he diagnosed with celiac disease (which is different from a wheat allergy)? My response was based on this from medical experts in celiac disease: https://nationalceliac.org/celiac-disease-questions/using-gluten-free-skin-body-products-someone-celiac-disease/ https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/celiac-disease/expert-answers/celiac...
  22. My anemia resolved within a few months while on the gluten-free diet. Have you had follow up testing? Leading celiac centers recommend repeated antibody testing annually and a repeat endoscopy as needed. You should find out of your celiac disease is still actively flaring. You may have refractory celiac disease or another autoimmune disease or illness...
