I think you might be fine. All the tortillas come from the factory. I imagine even the meat products are shipped from the warehouse already cooked and preseasoned. They would cut up just the produce in the store. Just keep your hands out of your mouth, use gloves where possible and wash your hands frequently. Have fun! (Del Taco was THE place...

Celiac advice please?
cyclinglady replied to Charmar's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome! There are over 200 symptoms attributed to celiac disease. Best to get tested. Learn more about testing here (University of Chicago): http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/screening/ -
Gas X by GSK (glaskosmithkline)
cyclinglady replied to sddave's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It used to be on the old FG drug list. The pharmacist who advocates for celiacs is updating the list, but it takes time. So, this product is not on the new list yet. It should be fine. http://www.glutenfreedrugs.com/ I have many non-celiac reactions to medications (anaphylactic). Each time is a crap shoot for me. So, my strategy is to avoid... -
Looks like the test was negative. Your result was less than two. A four would have been a positive. However, if my doctor had given me this test, I would have failed. Luckily, my GI ordered a complete celiac panel. Learn more here: http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/screening/ The TTG test is good but it does not catch all celiacs. Did you get...

It seems just about anything can be related to celiac disease. My hemoglobin levels are always just below range due to Thalassemia. So, you can have more than one type of anemia or blood disorder. I would not worry if your labs are consistent. The body has a marvelous way of adapting. Who knows? Maybe you were meant to live in the Swiss Alps. Bet...

Your GP does not sound like he is celiac-savvy. Too bad he did not take the time to pull out his phone and google Celiac disease testing protocol. Odds are your result will be negative, leaving you in diagnostic limboland, but you might be the type to have long-lasting elevated antibodies. You will just need wait for the lab results. You can do a gluten... -
Do i have celiac
cyclinglady replied to editing23's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If your genetic test for celiac genes was negative, chances are you will not develop celiac disease. However, there are always exceptions and experts have identified a few more genes, but this rare. You could ask for the celiac disease antibodies test just in case or post your genetic results here on the forum. Your symptoms could be attributed to... -
Seeking Advice, I May Have Celiac
cyclinglady replied to DeviD's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The most common way to diagnose celiac disease is to obtain biopsies via an endoscopy as damage can be microscopic. However, the pill camera has been able to help diagnose celiac disease if the villi damage is severe enough to be visible on the camera. The other advantage is that the pill camera goes through the entire small intestine and it can catch other...- 17 replies

Blood Test
cyclinglady replied to Ejm526's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You can always just get the blood test yourself (pay cash) as another alternative. Google local labs. -
I do not have DH, but I understand that it is insanely itchy (like it keeps you up at night). It can not be diagnosed visually, you need a skin biopsy. You might want to see a dermatologist who is celiac-savvy as the biopsy must be taken in a very special way. Celiac disease can cause rashes other than DH. If you have already trialed the gluten...

Possible SCD for my 12 year old.
cyclinglady replied to CrystalW's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Hi! I would recommmend that you get a copy (and maintain) of all your son’s medical records for a variety of reasons. You might want to consider a second opinion from another GI or an allergist. Your son may not have received the entire celiac panel. I can tell you that personally, I test weird. If my doctor just gave me the standard screening T... -
I would not worry about it. I got a new Lodge frying pan and just did a quick rinse and used it. I retired my Grandfather’s crusted old cast iron skillet that was close to 100 years old after my celiac disease diagnosis. I did not want to risk it breaking if I stuck it in a super hot oven. It will go to the next generation of chicken fryers. Get a...

Biopsy results – very confusing
cyclinglady replied to tali's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Consider asking your GI to order the rest of celiac blood panel which includes the DGP tests. Why? I tested positive to only the DGP. My EMA and TTG tests have always been negative even in follow up testing. The TTG is good, but does not catch all celiacs. This might prevent that second endoscopy. After all, he found villi damage. Also some 10% of... -
Hidden Malt in Iron Supplements
cyclinglady replied to MissT's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
No, this chemical is gluten free per this leading celiac center (University of Chicago). Scroll down to page 32: https://www.cureceliacdisease.org/wp-content/uploads/Jump-Start-Your-Gluten-Free-Diet-July-2013.pdf This book is pretty handy and discusses celiac disease (diagnosing, symptoms, treatment, etc.) also talking to a pharmacist can help...- 4 replies

Biopsy results – very confusing
cyclinglady replied to tali's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well, your case is unusual. If I recall your EMA was indeterminate and your TTG IgA was barely positive. The TTG can be slightly elevated (besides celiac disease) when you have another autoimmune disorder. Your doctor also ran an asca IgG test which can check for Inflammatory Bowel Disease (includes Crohn’s Disease). Many other things can cause villi b... -
35 yrs of Misdiagnosis & Pain
cyclinglady replied to Marcos's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Karen is correct. You need to be on a full gluten diet in order for the celiac tests to work (antibodies in the blood stream). It can take a few days or weeks for those antibodies to build up enough. It is an individual thing, so celiac experts err on the side of caution. Since you had a positive on the bio card (home test), you might get a positive... -
Sick for gluten or something else?
cyclinglady replied to lucyx's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Well, it could be gluten-related or just a bug. Who knows? Celiac Disease “glutening” symptoms can change from exposure to exposure. For some, their glutening symptoms are consistent. Did your doctor test you for celiac antibodies besides the endoscopy? How many biopsies were taken? Was Inflammatory Bowel Disease ruled out?- 5 replies

Kroger Brand Tomato Sauce
cyclinglady replied to Fbmb's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I cook with lard and suffer from no ill effects, but my body is used to a diet rich in fats. For me, tamales are out. Why? The chili’s! There was chili in all those dishes (I have an intolerance to them). I can tell you that the older you get, you tend to lose your taste buds too. My Aunt (over 80) just over spices everything! Maybe your Aunt did t... -

Welcome! You do seem to be anemic. That will take a few months to resolve with supplements and iron-rich foods. Are you vegan? I see no meats, fish, eggs, dairy (if not lactose intolerant), nuts and fruit listed. More importantly, what about fats like olive oil, avocados, butter, coconut oil, etc? A celiac just needs to avoid gluten...
