  1. I am so sorry that you are sick. I think you have to decide if you want to get back on a gluten free diet and get tested or remain gluten free and seriously eat as if you had celiac disease or NCGI. That means following celiac cross contamination protocol. Like not sharing toasters (unless you use toaster bags), condiments (unless squeeze bottles), etc...
  2. Yikes! Yes! I will correct. Thank you. I am so used to being GLUTEN FREE!
  3. Maybe you should consider a bone marrow biopsy. Your hematologist might be on to something. At least it would rule out several things. Based on this link, it could be related to SIBO or another AI issue. http://www.medicinenet.com/neutropenia/article.htm Another possibility is Mast Cell Activation Syndrome or Mastocytosis. That could explain...
  4. Weak positives can be attributed to a gluten free diet. All celiac testing (blood and intestinal biopsies) require you to be on a gluten diet (8 to 12 weeks blood, 2 to 4 for biopsies). The genetic test (you can be on a gluten diet) will reveal if you have the chance of developing celiac disease. Some 30% of the population carries the celiac genes, but...
  5. Another variable that should be considered......old age and reduced eyesight! We do not have a dishwasher, so we hand wash. It appears that I am not washing as well at night. This might be fine for a good gut bionome (referencing a study in Sweden, I think), but bad from a cross contamination perspective with gluten. http://www.npr.org/sections...
  6. Welcome! Here is a link to our Newbie 101 thread that you might find useful. I can only comment on those foods that I have in my home or have purchased. 1. Nutella is and it states it in the label. 2. Skippy PB is gluten-free (not stated, but ingrediants are). 3. Soy sauce. It should state it on the label as gluten free or...
  7. In the beginning, you might find ANY gluten free bread abhorrent. So, you might wait a few months to give yourself time to forget what wheat bread tasted like.
  8. In my brief research, I did not find any public papers indicating villi blunting for Losartan specifically. There was research and a law suit on olmesartan (other celiac.com members have pointed out). Dr. Hart may have been making clinical observations or has access to medical research that is not public (or free). He is/was located at the University...
  9. All good advice. When was the last time you had your antibodies checked (Raven's sensible advice). Maybe gluten is not really the culprit (but I suspect that it is). Ennis has great advice about keeping a journal. Texas Jen is right about the number of hours you are sleeping. You probably need seven or eight hours. As a nursing student...
  10. Do you have an intolerance to corn? I think that might be the source of the glucose fructose syrup.
  11. Reusable toaster bags....get them on Amazon. Makes for easier travel. Squeeze bottle for condiments are best. Once a bag of chips are opened in the pantry, we are done.
  12. You are a mom with a child who has an autoimmune disease that fortunately can be managed with diet. It is your family's job to protect your son. Most of that responsibility falls to you, your husband and your child. It is very hard to completely understand the gluten free diet unless you are living it every single day. But there are things that you can...
  13. If you do have celiac disease, antibodies can continue to rise and attack for days, week or months after a gluten exposure. I hope you feel better soon.
  14. Welcome. You might consider staying on gluten and seeing your doctor for a celiac blood test panel. You need to be consuming gluten for several weeks prior to the blood draw otherwise the tests can be invalid. You could have celiac disease or a gluten sensitivity. The only way to know for sure is to get tested as there are over 200 symptoms attributed...
  15. Yes, you can get diagnosed with biopsies prior to having a celiac (antibodies) blood panel. That what they did BEFORE the blood test was invented. Thyroid issues are common with many who have celiac disease. It was prudent that your doctor ordered these tests. The lipase test is linked to the pancreas. Again, a poor result can be attributed to...
  16. I can not add anything else, but I hope you feel better fast!
  17. Welcome! I am so sorry that you are dealing with this. With all your testing was active celiac disease ruled out? Did they check for UC or Crohn's? Flies? I am on the West Coast. The wind is usually too steady for any insect to hang around at the beach, but I recall getting attacked by them while visiting Mt. Vernon. Thank you for taking...
  18. I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, but my Mom has Graves. I have been both hyper and hypo. Had crazy swings for a while while going through menopause and being undiagnosed with celiac disease. My thyroid calmed down on the gluten-free diet. My enlargement and nodules went as well. Not sure if it was the gluten-free diet or simply reducing my immune response...
  19. Welcome! Chances are your high results are due to celiac disease. Have you had a gastroenterologist consult? He/she can refer you to a dietician who can help you with the gluten free diet. Celiac disease can wreak havoc on so many different areas of the body. It just does not affect the GI tract. There is a good chance that the gluten-free...
  20. Welcome to the forum! A gluten challenge can be very, very tough. It sounds like you have a lot of your plate right now. Consider just maintaining a gluten-free diet until you have the opportunity to do the challenge. You can decide to stick to the diet. It can be done. While I am diagnosed with celiac disease (four years), my hubby went...
  21. It was a good thought Ennis! But...for me personally, my family is done with gifts. The kids are older and frankly, it was just getting to be too much. Instead, we focus on getting together or keeping in touch. Why don't we plan on meeting up in the Gab/Chat and share something positive (e.g. Story) or a blessing on Christmas? I am so thankful...
  22. Congratulations on completing that 1/2 marathon! ??‍♀️
  23. I have ONLY tested positive on the DGP IgA. Everything on the celiac panel (TTG and EMA) has always been negative even in follow-up testing. My biopsies (via endoscopy) revealed a Marsh Stage IIIB (villi damage). There is a reason there is a panel. Not everyone tests the same. My research has not revealed the reason why I have tested this way. It seems...
  24. I agree with Ravenwoodglass! I would be concerned that he would not do the appropriate number of tissue samples, based on his comments. I was never in the 100's on my celiac panel when I was diagnosed. In fact, ONLY my DGP IgA has ever been positive when I was initially diagnosed and in many follow-up panels. Even my EMA is ÀLWAYS negative. Yet my ...
  25. Okay, a year of being gluten free. When was your last celiac antibodies test taken? It should be done annually or more often if you are having issues. It can help determine if you are actually diet compliant. http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/faq/how-often-should-follow-up-testing-occur/ Ruling out celiac disease as the culprit would be helpful...
