  1. Keep at it! Took me six weeks to get relief and I only got tummy issues during the actual diagnostic period (ate tons of gluten as a farewell). Do not go back to eating gluten. Carpool time. Got to go.
  2. Rolled in from a camping weekend with a big group of friends near San Diego. Bought a Costco chicken on Friday and fixings prepared so that my family can heat and serve me! Winds are picking up. Expected to be a scorcher tomorrow! Yosemite! Have fun, Lisa! Happy Mother's Day!
  3. Everyone begged for Mexican food and that is what they are getting!
  4. The blog section is not as active as posting on the regular sections of the forum. If you do not get a good response, try reposting. Sorry to hear about your son. I only had anemia and did not have G I issues either. Ataxia is definitely a symptom of CD. Put ataxia into the search bar and you will find postings from those on this forum who have experienced...
  5. Welcome to the forum! You responded to an old posting, but that is okay! Maybe one of our current members is having a similar issue.
  6. Wow! I feel like jumping on my bike after reading your blog. Glad that exercise is making you feel good.
  7. I have lots of allergies and food intolerances besides having celiac disease. I am the only one diagnosed with celiac disease, but my whole family has allergies and various food intolerances. Best thing to do is to keep a food journal. Do some research on it. If you know that pork bothers you then do not eat it. Maybe in a year or so, you might be able...
  8. How long have you been gluten free? Lots of gluten-free folks have to wait many months to a year before drinking.
  9. Yeah, I hear you about gluten. When I was diagnosed, my only symptom at the time was anemia. Now, looking back, I had lots of health issues that could have all been related to gluten -- or maybe not? Who knows? Glad that you are able to keep your uterus. Recovering from gallbladder surgery is pretty quick! Make sure they can accommodate your gluten...
  10. I have uterine fibroids too. It was thought that they were causing problems with severe bleeding, but that turned out to be my anemia and thyroid. I went on HRT (bio-identical to stop the bleeding) and therefore, helped my severe anemia. But, it didn't resolve the anemia -- that's when I found out I had Celiac Disease. My GYN wanted to do surgery. I...
  11. Stomach pain (pinching, really is my first symptom I get when I have been accidentally glutened. It's where the stomach empties into the small intestine. You could actually see visually at the bottom of my rib cage swelling. The pain went away after six months or so when I initially went gluten free. My gallbladder attacks (non-functioning 0% injection...
  12. Good for you!
  13. Hey, I'm officially diagnosed (3/2013) , but my husband is not. He's been gluten free for 12 years and refuses to do a challenge. Why bother? He knows that gluten makes him sick. Get back to being gluten free and you'll feel so much better!

    Leg Cramps

Pam, You might try re-posting. Not many folks respond in the blogging section.
  15. Here's a link to the University of Chicago's Celiac website that discusses the actual components of a Celiac Blood Test: http://www.cureceliacdisease.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/CDCFactSheets3_Antibody.pdf I don't think looking young is a celiac symptom. It's probably genetic. My niece and I are both young looking and our small statures just...
  16. Chili tonight! 500 Trick or Treaters will be dropping by. Feeding the neighborhood, so it's a couple of big pots. gluten-free cornbread and salad, plus, some brownies. Of course, we'll raid the candy from those kids who return to unload their loot! Happy Halloween! Dressing as Ma Ingalls from Little House on the Prairie.
  17. Homemade chicken rice soup, biscuits an apple cobbler for dessert! It's our first rainy day of the season and it feels cold (60 degrees compared to 94 two days ago!).
  18. I always have cooked the noodles separately and then added them in before serving. With the leftovers, I can add rice and change it up!
  19. Don't give up on corn tortillas! They should be fresh and heated on the stove in a pan or we just put it directly on the grating of our gas stove top. Don't scorch them but heat until they begin to bubble and turn a few times. Use two corn tortillas to hold your filling -- especially when it's wet with salsa. Homemade tortillas are the best, but usually...
  20. Welcome, Emily! Did you know that there is a section within the forum just for teens and young adults? I bet you'll be able to "talk" to someone your own age who has CD too! Check it out! I'd talk to you, but I'm an old Mom. My daughter is 12 but she hasn't been tested yet. Have fun!
  21. Very inspiring! I'm glad your kids are independent when it comes to household chores. It's a gift, that's for sure. So, glad you are feeling better!
  22. Glad you are feeling better!
  23. Oh, sweet potatoes! I forgot. Good catch! I season with dill, pepper and salt. Can't do garlic. Looking forward to making these at the end of October when this heat wave will end! Ha! Maybe, I should just put the pan out on the sidewalk....
