  1. You are lucky that your villi are still intact. The small intestine is about the size of a tennis court, so damage can be easy to miss, so do not think you are off the hook! For example, I had patches of moderate to severe damage. Some celiacs (Marsh Stage IIIC) have NO villi intact. The lymphocytes always accompany celiac disease. With your positive...
  2. If you seriously have had a gluten reaction, you should contact the FDA. With the pandemic, there has been issues with many medications. But normally, this is one of my go-to medications as I have bouts of autoimmune hives. It is even recommended by Jebby an old member who has celiac disease, mast cell activation syndrome and she is a medical doctor...
  3. I I use the Costco brand of Zyrtec. It is gluten free. How are you reacting? Could it be the inactive ingredients like corn?
  4. Congratulations! Thanks for reporting back. You will surely help some newbies stay the course. 😊
  5. The celiac disease antibodies blood tests were meant to help diagnose celiac disease, but were not designed to monitor the gluten-free diet or healing. But it is the only non-evasive “tool-in-the toolbox”, so doctors use it. I would not worry. My DGP IGA was elevated when I had a repeat endoscopy/biopsies that showed complete small intestinal healing. I ...
  6. A few studies show a correlation of very high TTG tests with villi damage. They were trying to see if they could skip the endoscopy in patients, especially children. In Europe, they decided to to this and it really helps with medical costs. In the US, researchers are still on the fence. The blood tests are good, but not perfect. For example, I never...
  7. Welcome, Emily, to the club you never through about joining! The good news is now you can heal. Your anemia should resolve pretty fast. My doctor prescribed iron supplements. My ferritin (iron stores improve within 3 months, so I no longer needed the supplement because I was absorbing iron from my food. Everyone is unique and has a different...
  8. It is a positive and that is all that counts. Everyone is different. Like a positive for a Hashimoto’s TOO antibodies test is usually around 35 and mine was 2,000. Was I sicker than other patients? I don’t think so. No hypothyroidism symptoms (cold, gaining weight) but my thyroid was enlarged.
  9. My daughter and I have a weird intolerance to both garlic and onions. Besides GI problems, it activates our Acne Rosacea. So, the evidence is clearly visible. My daughter had a very hard time avoiding garlic and onion while at school. She is home studying now and her face is amazingly clear. No acne, acne rosacea, just glowing skin. Hard to look at...
  10. My house is 100 years old. Lots of plaster!
  11. I would give yourself more time to heal. I know, it is hard to be patient, but that is the way it is. It took time to damage your gut and it will take time to heal. Learning the gluten-free diet will take time too. Consider keeping a food journal to help identify symptoms. Like eating a lot of pinto beans three days in a row, can give you gas. Cut back...
  12. Most celiacs tolerate rice really well. It is the “go to” grain for celiacs as recommended by all the celiac research centers. You are an exception. Corn, however, is a common Intolerance for many as is soy. Best to keep a food journal to track symptoms and help identify additional intolerances.
  13. Welcome! At first thought, Mal de debarquement syndrome, came to mind, but it is unlikely. I bet you have not been on a boat lately. Chances are this is part of your celiac disease. Have you heard of gluten ataxia? Celiac disease is a systemic autoimmune disease that can start in the gut. It can affect many systems including the...
  14. Your labs look great for someone who has been on the diet for just a few months and your doctor agreed, right? Just stay the course and I am confident you will see continue to see improvement. Celiac disease requires patience. It took you way while to get sick and it will take time to heal.
  15. You could be reacting (I mean have an intolerance) to any of the ingredients. Those boxed gluten-free Mac and Cheese products make my kid feel yucky. She does well with homemade Mac and cheese.
  16. Fatty liver has traditionally be associated with alcoholism. Now, it is very common. Doctors suspect sugar (lots of carbs) and not fat. Especially corn syrup found in soft drinks. Please google this topic or read this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4405421/
  17. Please ask for a HIDA scan. My gallbladder was non-functioning. Never had stones. The HIDA can determine if your gallbladder is actually squeezing and releasing bile. An ultrasound will not catch a non-functioning gallbladder.
  18. I would get that GI appointment. You did have a slight positive and the GI can determine if it is due to celiac disease or the test came back as a result of your Hashimoto’s. Losing weight that fast requires some investigation. Like you, I am little. Never had weight gain even when running hypo. My only symptom for celiac disease was anemia (iron-deficiency)....
  19. Sure, you should be safe. Like anything, keep your hands clean and do not put your fingers in your mouth. For piece of mind, consider a few water bottles and some soap in your car to wash off occasionally or if a bag breaks.
  20. Based on just the plain tenderizer (not seasoned) and a website search, there are no gluten ingredients. Just salt, sugar, cornstarch and bromelian (pineapple enzyme). But is important to read the label because manufacturers do not always keep their websites current.
  21. See your doctor. It sounds like it is related to your tooth extractions. Take care.
  22. Advertising for them? Want to try this place? Went to this place? What’s up?
  23. Why did you go gluten free? Are you diagnosed with celiac disease or suspect a sensitivity? It sounds like you might be allergic or have an intolerance to rice, especially if you react to Cream of Rice. Try cooking plain rice and see if you react. Other things to consider is that you might have food poisoning. And even though we are in a pandemic...
