I am not a doctor, but if your ferritin (iron stores) are improving you are most likely absorbing iron. As far as iron blood levels, your results are still in the normal range. Any idea what they were say, five years ago or longer? Your doctor would need to check your hemoglobin level or size of blood cells to see if you are anemic. Did they recheck...

Did you get a HIDA scan for the gallbladder? Mine was removed because it became infected after failing to empty. My HIDA scan results were at 0% and anything close to 20% is a candidate for surgery. My ultrasound and CT were normal. No stones. It seems like a family curse, but I strongly think (I am not a doctor) that if my celiac disease diagnosis had...

I have purchased it occasionally when I do not want to make a run to Costco or we are traveling. We use a lot of feta cheese. It is safe in my opinion.

Hubby had been gluten free almost fifteen years when he developed plantar fasciitis. It has since resolved (took months). The shoe inserts helped along with stretching. I think your search revealed correlation and not causation. Maybe you should get back on gluten and get tested for celiac disease. If negative, your doctor might give you a Non-celiac...

Dealing with effects of cross contamination
cyclinglady replied to Petroguy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So nice that you are supporting your wife! Hubby and I are both gluten free (he was 12 years before me and yes, it was a shock that I had gluten issues too), but our teen is not. She gets her gluten fix outside of the house (at friends, restaurants and school). She does make it a habit to wash her hands when she gets home. I would advising brushing your... -
There are several members who tested this way. Try using the forum search box. You are right that there is not much research/literature on this situation. Believe me, I have looked. What caused you to be tested? For me, I went for a GI consult for a colonoscopy because I hit 50. My GI noticed my life-long anemia, somhe ordered a celiac panel....

It only takes one positive on the celiac panel to proceed to an endoscopy to obtain small intestinal biopies. I had a positve DGP IgA and tested negative to all the other celiac tests, even in follow-up testing. My biopsies small intestinal damage. Your doctor should refer you to a GI. Keep consuming gluten or the tests will be invalid.

Nice to hear that a kid is drinking lots of milk. He is fortunate that he is not lactose intolerant. My teen drinks copious amounts of milk. None of her friends do though. My Dad (in his 80s) weighed 125 pounds when he was in the military. Boy, does he wish he were slim and trim like when he was young. I am not a dietitian, but look to increase...

New (for me) celiac disease categories
cyclinglady replied to trents's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thank you, Posterboy! ? -
Most likely the dry milk is gluten free, but this is an example of how I prefer to avoid store brands (I am assuming this is private labeled). I used to use powdered milk when I made homemade wheat bread before my diagnosis. What do you use it for? A backup in case of a Hurricane or Earthquake? To me it tastes awful.

In tears....:(

I am so sorry. ? -
@WADEIn- Congratulations on your blood levels coming down! Talk to your doctor about your upcoming endoscopy in May. You are newly diagnosed. While in theory your gut should heal within weeks actually, there is a steep learning curve to the gluten-free diet. I suppose if you never eat out or consume oats, and primarily consume Whole Foods or just...

When in doubt rip it out?

I wanted to delete my post since the OP decided to retract her posts and my response did not make sense. -
What is Meat Glue, and Why is it Unsafe for People with Celiac Disease?

I think you would need to contact the manufacturer directly. Let us know their response, please!- 6 comments

Spring for a new colendar unless you want to hours insuring every little hole is clean. Flour can actually stay in the air for hours and it tends to settle all over your kitchen. You breathe it in and can swallow it. I avoid sitting in bakeries as a result even if they have really good coffee. ?

I have not researched the cut off for IgA in regards as being used as only a control test in celiac disease (mine is the opposite and is very high), but it indicates that you should see a GI because any IgA related test (TTG IgA) might be inaccurate. Others on the forum have researched low IGA (which on its own is a separate issue), I thought it needed...

Welcome! I am sorry that you are struggling. I get it! While I have Hashimoto’s and celiac disease, I have TD2 (insulin resistance) which so far has not progressed enough to demand medications or insulin. I work hard to keep my carbs low in order to avoid medications. I keep an eye out for TD1/LADA, since I can develop autoimmune diabetes even l...

Just know that I am not a doctor or a dietitian, but since you are vegan/vegetarian, that could be the reason why you are B-12 borderline low. My B-12 was high and the dropped after I stopped drinking that fortified soy milk. It is well known that vegans can be B-12 deficient. My daily consumption of eggs, fish, and meat insures (for now) that I do not...

What is wrong with me?
cyclinglady replied to stevewonders's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Everyone heals differently from celiac disease. What you described is perfectly normal. Listen to your body. It needs nutrients to heal. Rice or corn cakes with jam sounds yummy, be sure to consume fats and proteins. It will keep you satiated. Eat plenty of veggies and make sure they are varied. Consume fruit too. Your hunger issues will eventually... -
Hi! I am in the U.S. but I think I understand your concerns. The USDA allows a small percentage “stuff” to be included in raw agricultural products. Things like errant pieces of twigs and rocks! Yes, even grains like wheat. Long before I was diagnosed with celiac disease, my mother and grandmother taught us to sort beans/grains on a cookie she...

Welcome! Your doctor did give you some bad advice. You should remain on gluten until all testing for celiac disease is done. That includes an endoscopy to obtain intestinal biopsies which is still the gold standard. However, everyone has different circumstances, so you might do this step (e.g. no insurance, in school, etc.). Once off gluten, it can...

For like $100 more, add the DGP IgA test as well. The EMA is expensive because it is labor intensive (lab), so consider skipping that test. Why find out if you have the MTHFR gene? What is that knowledge going to do for you? I have probably have the MTHFR gene. My B-12 and Folate used to be off the chart when I was consuming soy milk that was...
