  1. Jayl, Keep eating gluten daily until you get that endoscopy. All celiac testing requires you to be on a full gluten diet. ?
  2. Me too. Guess I am too active!
  3. Listen to Ravenwoodglass. She is wise.
  4. Three weeks into the diet is not much time to heal. Your gut is inflamed! Your GI tract is raw and sore. You are not digesting any food properly. The result can just be gas. Do you drink milk? You could temporarily be lactose intolerant. Stop dairy for a Few days. Then just add back those dairy foods that contain the least lactose (milk sugar). This...
  5. Not so fast! You only need one positive on the panel to move forward with an endoscopy to obtain intestinal biopsies. I am the perfect example. I only had a positive on the DGP IgA and yet I ended up having moderate to severe intestinal damage. My only symptom was anemia which had been blamed on a genetic anemia (you can have more than one type of anemia...
  6. I am a little confused. So you went on the Fasano diet with your doctor’s approval to see if you could finally rid yourself of DH, right? It appears that the diet has been successful because your DH has resolved and now you want to experiment with alcohol. Chances are your gut has healed too. Usually DH appears much faster. I listen to those with D...
  7. Please tell your endo to consider screening his/her TD1 patients for celiac disease, especially if they have GI issues or anemia. You many help someone else! https://www.glutenfreeliving.com/gluten-free/celiac-disease/celiac-disease-and-diabetes/
  8. Dang! Those numbers are high. My lab does not report numbers higher than 100. So, I have no idea how high mine actually have been. When diagnosed, I only had a positive on the DGP IgA which was either a 60 or an 80. My GI called me “mildly positive” at the time. My intestinal biopsies revealed a Marsh Stage IIIB which is moderate to severe damage. F...
  9. Groundbreaker. It is made in dedicated brewery and is certified. It is brewed in Oregon, but a local liquor store stocks it here in California. There are others, but I got to get to work!
  10. Hi Hana! How nice for you to ask and to be so supportive! Yes, it is common to suffer from gluten withdrawal. I am not sure if it is due to the loss gluten or the abrupt change in any diet. Many members do report this. Fatigue is VERY common with any autoimmune disorder. This should improve with healing. The learning curve for the...
  11. Joe, Your doctor can check you for vitamin deficiencies (lab test), but more importantly, you need to have a serious conversation with your doctor about your anxiety. It seems pretty high from what you described. You just might need medication for a while and you might see some benefits from taking it. Talk to your doctor. In the meantime,...
  12. My biopsies revealed a Marsh Stage IIIB (moderate to severe patches of villi damage). However, I only had a positive on the DGP IgA. If my GI had not ordered the complete panel, my diagnosis would have been missed. I went in for a routine cancer screening colonoscopy (yep, am over 50) and during the consult, the GI looked at my file and noticed that I...
  13. At least you know where you stand. The logical assumption would be that you are being exposed to gluten. I know that you think the food service is not the culprit, but unless you tour the kitchen and speak to the owner, you will never know. Find out exactly how they process the food. Are you consuming oats? Did you ever kiss your ex after she...
  14. Wow! Fish and Chips! How wonderful. I felt the same way this past summer in Oregon. I went to Groundbreaker Brewery. An assortment of sample gluten free beers and yummy food. A celiac’s paradise! I felt normal! Enjoy and report back. Go easy. Alcohol can be unsettling when your gut is raw. But that possible setback will resolve as you heal! ...
  15. Four weeks is NOT enough time for the blood test. Celiac centers suggest 8 to 12 weeks. The University of Chicago’s celiac site: https://www.cureceliacdisease.org/faq/what-is-a-gluten-challenge/ Why cut it shorter? It can only add to the confusion. Make sure this time you get the complete celiac panel which includes the DGP, TTG and EMA. ...
  16. I am so sorry to hear about your Mono. From what I understand, it takes time to heal even if you do not have celiac disease or other illnesses. Just like healing from celiac disease or mending bones from a fracture, you just have to be patient. Take advantage of it. When I fractured my back (osteoporosis from celiac disease), I chose to milk it...
  17. So, you do not have celiac disease. I get that you and your doctors believe this and it could very well be true as 20% of DH sufferers do not have intestinal damage. But no matter because the treatment for DH is a strict gluten free diet and possibly the use of Dapsone which has some very real risks and benefits of long term use. https://celiac...
  18. I am sorry you were glutened. It is a reminder that we must always be vigilant. Always ask questions and weigh the risks vs. the benefits. Personally, I avoid eating out. My reaction to gluten is now very severe and seems to contribute to the development of additional autoimmune disorders. I hope that you feel better soon.
  19. That is weird. Jane Anderson who has DH recently verified that See’s is gluten free as of 10-2018. Not officially “gluten free” because that would mean that the product has been tested to be under 20 ppm or even certified. But in terms of ingredients, no gluten was used. https://www.verywellfit.com/gift-candy-boxes-for-the-gluten-free-diet-...

  21. All the leading celiac experts still say that an endoscopy is needed to confirm a celiac diagnosis. Why? The antibodies testing is good but not perfect. You can have more than one issue going on (SIBO, IBD, Autoimmune Gastritis, cancer....rare and if left undiagnosed for years) and that first endoscopy acts as a benchmark. For example, my last endoscopy...
  22. See’s even ships in the winter! ?
  23. Unfortunately, drug companies do not have to follow the FDA guidelines. The pharmaceutical companies lobby hard! I think a bill was shot down twice in Congress. So, consider advocating for this cause. Your Sandoz amoxicillin online shows that it does not contain gluten ingredients. But I took it two years ago. Did I get glutened? No way to prove...
  24. Too bad. Most of us have many intolerances. Good for you working around your intolerances so well.
  25. Why not use yeast? Do you have an intolerance to it?
