  1. You are very welcome. I seem to remember there was a thread on this forum some years ago about dishwashers and the general consensus was that dishwashers were good at removing gluten - I don't think one necessarily has to spend a fortune on a top-end one, just one that actually works as it should would be fine (unlike our dodgy one!)
  2. Hello Lynda I do have a granite chopping board which I put in the dishwasher - but obviously that's not something you can do with an entire work top! I suspect the answer is lots of hot soapy water, then more, and more again. You may find it easier just to get a separate chopping board that you can put in the dishwasher if you are worried? I had...
  3. Hello Linny I wonder if you could post your numbers - it would be really helpful to know what your TTG readings were before and now, if you have them? Also, which liver enzymes have gone up? Without knowingly changing your diet, one explanation could be that the ingredients of something you are eating that was previously gluten free may now include...
  4. Thanks Emjean, Happy Christmas to you too. Let's hope Omicron is milder as some experts seem to be suggesting!
  5. Thank you. I love Christmas but Omicron has put paid to our Christmas Dinner plans with wider family already. We're not sure where things are going with this locally but being a hypochondriacal pessimist, I prefer to err on the side of caution. Thankfully there is a lovely outdoor Christmas event nearby which hopefully is slightly lower risk, we're hoping...
  6. Yes... sorry, I had to have a scope for reasons other than coeliac disease - don't worry! Coeliac friends who were diagnosed the same time as me have never had more than the one!
  7. Hello Emjean and welcome to the forum I'm a British coeliac and I can imagine the waiting times for an endoscopy must be pretty long at the moment. I'm afraid you will need to go back to eating gluten prior to the endoscopy. You could give it up for a while and then go back to it, but something to bear in mind: some people do find that...

  9. I find that if I eat a lot of gluten-free bread it has a mildly constipating effect. But the idea to do exercise three times a week is a great one, I find even a daily walk of just half an hour helps enormously with these sort of issues.
  10. No, I just forgot on that occasion - ridiculous really, I was just very busy and wasn't drinking enough water.
  11. I think I react quite strongly to magnesium supplements - although they always help with constipation (brilliant!) they make me thirsty and last time I took some the dehydration they caused set off some really irregular heartbeats. Ironically I took them to help improve my palpitations! 😄
  12. Continue to drink a lot of water if you take a magnesium supplement.
  13. That's really interesting, I didn't realise that about the 20 ppm. I wonder if that is the same in the UK? Anyway, I always have rated myself as an extra sensitive coeliac so perhaps that's why it does tend to affect me.
  14. I try to avoid that, I've occasionally eaten something by mistake though. It happened last week and I wondered why I felt so ill, and then saw the warning, which appeared much further down the packaging than the main ingredients list. What one has to watch out for in my country (the UK) is that food labelling that says "may contain" can be located in...
  15. If anyone in the UK is reading this and misses the Lindor milk chocolate truffles I've found a wonderful substitute which doesn't contain gluten from M&S which tastes, to my palate, anyway, exactly the same. https://www.ocado.com/products/m-s-swiss-milk-chocolate-truffles-512498011
  16. I hope the original poster will see this, it will be quite an encouragement to get some positive feedback.
  17. I have a very complicated time with oats. Before I was first diagnosed and went on a gluten-free diet, I ate them for England. Soon after diagnosis I reintroduced them (the pure variety) and it felt like the area just under my ribs, where the stomach is, was on fire, after a day or so after consuming them, so I stopped eating them. I tried to reintroduce...
  18. That sounds like a very good plan. Some celiacs seem to be much more sensitive to gluten exposure than others - I have celiac friends who eat out and never have any issues but I had so many bad experiences eating out that I tend to avoid it.
  19. Hello AKholmeyer Welcome to the forum. I am so sorry to hear that you are struggling like this, but every celiac's story is different. Some of us really bounce back soon after the adoption of a gluten free diet, for others there is gradual improvement, and others still would say they never really feel too brilliant, despite being really strict...
  20. Hello Wilson Whilst there are some other auto immune diseases that can skew numbers, and I am sorry as I don't have a list readily available here - I'm hoping someone else will chime in - in a celiac the most obvious culprit is gluten exposure. I sympathise as my TTG numbers have taken a long time to come down. They were over 100 in 2013 (not...
  21. Hi cricketboots I am so sorry to hear that you are struggling like this. It is not uncommon to feel this way, and interestingly, you will find that some coeliacs are affected by anxiety and depression prior to diagnosis. It is something that can also improve once you have mastered the diet - it certainly has in my own case. I'm based in the UK...
  22. Hi cricketboots Welcome to the forum! I'm usually a Mod on this forum but I'm not around much at the moment due to work deadlines. But I saw this post in my inbox and thought I must reply as I know how scary irregular heartbeats can be. How you are doing with the diet? Are you managing OK? There is a lot to learn in the first few months...
  23. Hello temp8665 From my own point of view, and bear in mind I am a celiac, excess stomach acid is something that I suffer from as a result of: a) gluten exposure; b) taking certain antibiotics or NSAID medication or c) eating too much rich food (I always suffer from this around the time of my birthday, because of all the cake I consume!) So could...
  24. Hello Estere and welcome to the forum! A couple of questions: how long have you been gluten free for? Secondly, what form does your dizziness take? Can you describe it? Is it a spinning sensation, or do you feel like you are walking on board a ship on rough seas? Or do you feel lightheaded? etc... I suffer from a sort of seasickness feeling...
  25. My apologies... I didn't read the last part of this sentence properly. I see your problem... not knowing how long the wait will be makes it a bit more difficult to know what to do. This is a problem that is besetting our healthcare system in the UK. Can you get sort of approximate idea of how long the wait times are from your doctor?
