Hello again Sabaarya. A small number of coeliacs can have damage in their gut but have absolutely normal blood tests. That is why it is so important for people with symptoms to have an endoscopy, as often that is they only way they can be sure that they are coeliacs. Your symptoms are so incredibly close to mine - anemia, muscle pain, back pain...

Hello MiriCatLady and welcome to the forum Your masters sounds very interesting. I hope others will be able to help you but I can say that the worst of my symptoms started at a time when I was extremely stressed about a project. Its success depended on on others "doing their bit" but no one was helping. My mother always said to me that it was the...

PS I am labelled the family hypochondriac, so I really understand how that feels. But then undiagnosed coeliac disease has thrown so many weird and wonderful symptoms my way that I think anyone else would have been the same. My grandmother had five medical dictionaries in an era before Dr Google. Before my time, she was considered the family hypochondriac...

Hi Sabaarya If you are in London, that means you are only about 50 miles away from me as I type this! ☺️ I had a rocky start to my gluten-free journey. About ten days after my biopsy, having been inexplicably poorly for a long time, I met with my gastroenterologist and I remember telling him I was about to go to France for a couple of wee...

Hi Bradford Sorry but I've taken a while to see this. I remember reading one online article some years ago on this - basically, it said that for some coeliacs a strict gluten free diet can help resolve TN pain. I cannot find it now, of course! But thank you for posting - I really hope this info. can be of help to other sufferers. Cristiana

Welcome to the Glazed Doughnut Last Chance Saloon. You have less than a fortnight to find one. No pressure... I remember Tim Tams well - hopefully they do a gluten free version? I also hope someone senior at McVities in the UK is reading this and will create a gluten-free Penguin, Tim Tam's British cousin, long overdue in my book.

Looking for Insight
cristiana replied to Djd27's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hello Djd27 I echo Trents' advice. Before diagnosis I would wake up with completely numb arms, and walked around much of the day with tingling in my left leg. I had diarrhea, cramps, brain fog. My mood was also affected - I had very severe anxiety, the likes of which I had never experienced before - so much so that I had to google the symptoms...- 12 replies

Oh... how I would love a glazed doughnut! Strange thing is, I even miss things I didn't like much before I gave up gluten, including KFC and McDonalds... Very odd. The good thing is, every now and again I walk into the supermarket to find someone has invented yet another gluten-free equivalent of something I thought I'd never eat again. The Free-From...

Struggling with whether to have kids
cristiana replied to Faberferrum's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hello Faberferrum Fear is a big thing, and I wear the T-shirt on that one! But as coeliac, I honestly think my one main regret about having coeliac disease is that I wasn't diagnosed sooner as I feel my health would have been much more robust now. (I've had issues with anemia and stuff like that.) The thing is, should you choose to have kids... -
Struggling with whether to have kids

Thanks, Trents. Yes, I seem to remember seeing something about it on this forum but I can't recall where. It chimed with me as my mother had osteoporosis and I wanted her to be tested but it never happened. Hopefully Scott will know where it was. -
Ectopic heartbeats - any relation to digestive issues?
cristiana replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
A PS, for anyone who has been following this... If you are suffering from ectopic heartbeats and have a feeling they could be related to your digestion, I have found this really good explanation here from Dr Sanjay Gupta, a consultant cardiologist, who explains how the stomach can affect the heart. I hope you find it helpful. -
Struggling with whether to have kids
cristiana replied to Faberferrum's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Trents, am I right in thinking this statistic is new research because when I was diagnosed I was told 1 in 10 chance that my children would have it? The official NHS website seems to say something similar, if I am reading it correctly, but I wouldn't be at all surprised it it were out of date. My own gastroenterologist gave me this statistic too but that... -
Ectopic heartbeats - any relation to digestive issues?
cristiana replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thank you everyone for all your advice. It's taken me a while to read everything, so sorry for not coming back sooner. I got some preliminary blood results back this week and they did show I was extremely dehydrated in hospital when my heart was all over the place, so I'm sure that didn't help. Kate, I will ask my consultant to add a thyroid... -
Yes... gluten-free croissants are available, but to my mind they don't cut the mustard. I attach a link from Coeliac UK about whisky which will cheer you up. (Personally I'm with Gussie Fink-Nottle on this one, who I seem to remember in an episode of Jeeves & Wooster referred to whisky as "vitriol", and "utter muck". I visited a friend in Scotland...

Bonjour, Baguette-less. Welcome to the forum, and what a fabulous name! I am afraid I can't answer the question that you are asking but I know others will be able to. What I would say however is if you do decide to follow doctors orders on this one as you are so nearly there, try to think of anything that you will really miss when you go gluten...

Dear Magan Hello to you and welcome to the forum! Have you spoken to your own family doctor about your concerns? It is important to do this as unfortunately Dr Google is a most unreliable doctor to visit at times like these, as I've learned to my cost: I'm three times your age and some of the things Dr Google has diagnosed me with over the years...

Ringworm - Doc Tells Me to Get Rid of My Pets
cristiana replied to bobandlucy's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Reading this reminds me.... my son was diagnosed with probable discoid eczema a few years ago. The rash looked exactly like ringworm to me - although I have to say I'm not an expert. Thankfully a very experienced doctor saw it and told me he thought it wasn't ringworm. Whatever it was it eventually faded. -
I agree with trents. I can't see any reason not to start now. I also agree with him on being careful which type to use. I was given some heavy duty iron pills by my doctor initially which caused constipation and bleeding (fissures). Another GP suggested ferrous gluconate and that was much gentler on my stomach. I don't know where you are posting from...

Ectopic heartbeats - any relation to digestive issues?
cristiana replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thank you Always! I did hope it was related to my thyroid as I thought it might be a simpler solution in some ways but I'm not convinced I was tested. I'm waiting for my results in the post - then I'll take a look. As a "Thyroid Veteran", I wonder if I could ask you what tests I need to request if they are missing? I remember years ago we had... -
Ectopic heartbeats - any relation to digestive issues?
cristiana replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Kate I think you've got something there! That's very good advice. ☺️ I am a right royal hypochondriac!👑 Plus a bit of stress in the mix. In the past I just took stress like a shock absorber but a friend of mine reckons its my body saying "Stop!" Perhaps it could also be a midlife hormone thing. I've been told from ECG results that the th... -
Question.... Newly diagnosed celiac
cristiana replied to Aprilmon's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes... I was thinking bile. This site attributes this to food moving through the system too quickly. "Stool color is generally influenced by what you eat as well as by the amount of bile — a yellow-green fluid that digests fats — in your stool. As bile pigments travel through your gastrointestinal tract, they are chemically altered by enzymes, ch... -
I live in the UK and I love it when stores start to introduce gluten free versions of food. I am with Everoptimistic though and live in hope of seeing a gluten free doughnut appear on shelves one day!
