  1. Hello Mark and welcome to the forum Firstly, from your spelling of coeliac, do I take it you are messaging us from the UK? If so, I should say I am a British moderator on this forum and so am familiar with the pathway to diagnosis here in the UK. Did your GP say to you that you must be eating gluten before any blood tests are taken? This will...
  2. That's a great tip about the tumeric. I had no idea. I ate some crisps with it today - not the healthiest way to consume it, though, methinks! Alan, have you had your B12 and ferritin levels checked? Low levels (or even low normal levels) give me brain fog. When this happens I buy some excellent B12 sublingual supplements from Holland...
  3. Wise words from Scott there. I'd also say do join Coeliac UK, if you are writing from the UK, if you haven't already. I'm pretty sure they support people with Non Celiac Gluten Intolerance, too. My local group actually organises meals out at safe venues. I have actually never gone myself yet but that's due to poor organisation on my part, more...
  4. Yes, me too. The dizziness is something that still comes back when I get gluten in my system.
  5. I used to have diarrhea with flushes, chills etc, and a sore stomach for days or weeks afterwards, but now it's changed to vomiting I just can't risk eating out any more. The shallow breathing and the feeling I might faint... that's also something that is fairly new. I'm just hoping that that's where it stays because I'm not sure that I could cope with...
  6. Hi Dena, Yes! It has happened to me so many times I've pretty much just given up eating out altogether, with the notable exception of one pub that has never let me down. I have so many stories. For example, we once went to a restaurant which prided itself on catering gluten-free. I ordered salmon and scrambled eggs (what could possibly go...
  7. I think in your shoes I would take this back to the doctor. I had a friend with similar pain and she was offered an ultrasound scan. Unhelpfully I cannot recall what the diagnosis was. Have you ever had any issues with your kidneys? Or diverticulitis?
  8. OK - well, it's good that your bloodwork is normal. Is the pain in your left side constant, or do you notice relief when you go to the loo, etc? (Sorry, you will get used to personal questions on this website!) C
  9. Hello Fooze Welcome to the forum, but I am sorry you are feeling unwell. The symptoms for coeliac disease/non-coeliac gluten intolerance are very varied, and I am sure that most those of us who suffer from one or other of the conditions would be able to identify with more than one of your symptoms. If you are reacting to gluten it can take a while...
  10. You are very welcome, S2. In my own experience tiny amounts of gluten don't always cause symptoms, but over time - Wham! - I'll know about it and I can end up with gastritis-type pain and an upset stomach for a few days or even a week or two. I used to love Ready Brek but there is no way I'd want to chance it now. If it is the consistency of the...
  11. Hi Stephen2 I don't know where you live but I live in the UK and I've just checked the manufacturers website (Weetabix) and they say all of their products contain gluten. https://weetabix.co.uk/faqs/#:~:text=All our products contain gluten from either wheat%2C barley or oats. As I understand it, although oats don't contain gluten themselves...
  12. Hello QLisa The problem with my tTg numbers at diagnosis is we had no idea how high they were - just that they were over 100, because that is the NHS lab cut off point here in my part of England. I've seen people on this forum who've managed to find out their actual tTg levels and they have been well in excess of 100 - perhaps mine were stratospheric...
  13. Hi Russ Thanks for the update. So glad you have some good news to share. Less about bad British food please though - my cooking is excellent! 😉 Hahah! All the very best.
  14. Hi Notorious and welcome to the forum, It does indeed sound as if you have good grounds to suspect coeliac disease. Noting your spelling of "coeliac", I suspect you may be in the UK? The reason I ask is I am British, and there are some real advantages to having a coeliac diagnosis in this country from the NHS perspective. If it is properly diagnosed...
  15. Hello Viv, and welcome to the forum It's really good you have contacted the manufacturer - I had awful symptoms when I started taking Floradix instead of Floravital iron supplements. The packaging is very similar but only Floravital is gluten free. If it isn't the buproprion, it could be something else sneaking into your food. I live in the UK...
  16. Hello there, I thought I'd chime in to say that when I was diagnosed I had villous damage and also cramping, gas, diarrhea, as well as gastritis. My blood results were through the roof (Ttg over 100). However, a few years into my recovery I some of those symptoms started up again. At this point my Ttg was over 80. I made changes to my...
  17. Hello Abby Welcome to the forum. Firstly, it does sound a long time to be waiting for results. I don't know where you live - I'm in the UK - but I'm told it normally takes 4 days for our labs to get the results back so if I have an appointment on Tuesday, I make sure my blood is taken at the latest Thursday. That said, there are some huge backlogs...
  18. Hi Mama2alot and welcome to the forum! I cannot say that I have ever seen that term before. However, what I can tell you is that when I was diagnosed, here in Britain, at around the same time as two other friends, one of them told me her gastroenterologist actually saw the damaged villi during her endoscopy and told her before the biopsies were sent...
  19. My rash, when it occurs, is on my scalp, shoulders, lower back, chest and belt area. It responds to emollient creams and betnovate cream, a type of topical steroid. I have adult onset eczema, which started last summer. Having read a lot of different comments posted on this forum, while I was having sleepless nights with my own rash, I think the key...
  20. I spoke to a pharmacy about this in the UK and I was told we already have a system in that any medication with a product licence code on it has to be gluten free. It's very helpful to know that, if there are any Brits reading. The code will appear on the packaging and has the letters PL, followed by a serial number after those letters.
  21. So interesting.... does that happen often i.e. twice in a row? My next blood test isn't until September but if I end up having the autumn Covid booster around that time I shall be interested to see what's happened!
  22. Hi Bob I see what you mean - the picture does look as if the photographer used frozen peas! Cristiana
  23. Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with celiac after getting a private wellman check as I have been feeling very tired lately, no energy and noticed twitches/tics all round my body, mostly in my left calf and some in my right. I was and still am extremely worried this may be a more serious illness and spoke to my doctor who prescribed me with sertraline...
  24. Hello kwagner Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on the birth of your baby last year. Reading your symptoms I could have been reading about myself (apart from the fact that my children were 7 and 9 at the time of my diagnosis). It must be tough feeling out of sorts with a young baby to care for, I really hope you begin to feel a lot better...
