Question about antibodies
cristiana replied to seerwatch77's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Although I was diagnosed in 2013, for some reason I fell through the system and my TTG levels were only tested again in November 2017. (At diagnosis they were higher than 100 but I never knew by how much). When I was tested again, my TTG levels were in the late 80s in November 2017. I was referred to a nutritionalist, made some changes at home and... -
A very good point of Whitepaw's. I meant to add this myself. I notice that when I have too much iron it affects this area and I too have pain that goes around to the back. Once I took too much iron in the morning and, seriously, the pressure around this area was immense. I thought I'd collapse with it!

Hello again Deezer I do have varying levels of discomfort in the LUQ. I can go days and barely notice it. Other times when badly glutened it is burning, and at its very worse there is nausea and a bit of heartburn. Other times it is an ache, and a feeling of fullness. If it is getting bad I do resort to taking a minimum dose of rantidine OTC...

Hi deezer I took a very short course of OTC Nexium Control 20mg. I was desperate - I felt as if my stomach was on fire with battery acid! I then tapered off with a course of a few Ranitidine tabs. I know there are a lot of warnings out there about such reflux meds but in my own case, I find that if I use them for a short while and taper them off very...

Hi! Yes, I get this when glutened. I didn't see the connection at first. Sometimes it feels almost like rib pain, a painful pressure on the underside of the left ribs. Other times it is there as well as just under my sternum. If you google epigastric pain that's kind of the area. It can be an ache or a burning sensation. Sometimes it goes to...

It might also be worth looking at any medication that you are taking. I don't make regular use of it but sometimes I have to take reflux medication now and again after gluten exposure or when taking certain medication. I notice I get incredibly vivid dreams that are fairly disturbing if I take a ppi and go straight back to sleep. There is no effect...

Wierd pain/discomfort
cristiana replied to Joepilk's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi! I have an umbilical hernia which feels similar to what you describe - always worse when I am bloated/have put on too much weight! I found cutting out dairy in the early days (apart from hard cheese, that didn't upset me) really cut down on the bloating. Hope you feel better soon. Cristiana -
Need Recovery Help Please.

Hi there, Do you have blood tests to compare TTG levels? My TTG antibodies were still high some four years gluten free (I think around 86). Unfortunately my specialist had omitted to give me that blood test since diagnosis so I don't know if it was temporarily elevated at 86 or whether they were coming down very slowly. At the time of diagnosis... -
Cross Contamination: Drawing the Line

Hi RMJ So interesting to know this... I thought I was the only one taking a long time to get down to normal levels. I don't know what my DGP IgA levels were though. -

Hi! It has taken a looong time for my ttg blood results to come down. As the cut off point is 100 here in the UK I have no idea how high it was at diagnosis, but I was quite ill, so possibly it was stratospheric five years ago. However, last year I was getting a lot of pain again (felt like gastritis) and it was discovered that my ttg was in the 8... -
Reflux - pain in neck above collarbone?
cristiana replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Ennis I've got some slippery elm that I used while I had gastritis so I'll start drinking it again, thank you. I'll look out for some marshmallow which is something I've not yet got in my arsenal! It's odd as I'm not really aware of a sore throat on the inside, it's just the pressure should I touch my throat right at the base of my neck. Also... -
Reflux - pain in neck above collarbone?

Hi Cyclinglady It's so kind of you to reply so quickly - you know how much of a HA panicker I am! I think they were gluten-free, I'll check they had a product licence number they can only have if they are gluten free. (That's if I can still find the packet!) I'm so glad for you that the gastritis healed on its own. I remember you going through... -
Hello friends I got reflux which burned my throat and a terrible burning pain in my stomach about three weeks ago due to some antibiotics I was taking (Trimethoprim). This all blew up over the weekend so couldn't see my GP but the pharmacist gave me some Nexium and told me to take them while I finished the course, which I managed to do. I have...

Hi Mooo I'm sorry you are going through this... I just wanted to chime in to say that I had about 9 months of gastritis like symptoms in the last year or so and when it all started I was getting heartburn that made my throat sore. I went to see more than one doctor and eventually one did a TTg test and found it was in the eighties. I was both disappointed...

My iron levels vary a lot and I hover just above anemic quite often. My ferritin got better at one stage, rising to 40, and then dropped 20 points literally overnight because of 'women's issues' so I guess it depends on several factors, and also how far you were off being anemic in your last blood test. If your diabetes test it turns out to be normal...

This is great advice from Trents, we can easily cause all sorts of imbalances by drinking too much. I have had several episodes of feeling REALLY thirsty in the last few years. But to date my blood tests and urine tests have been normal. Whilst I've been reading up about this, I read in several places anemia can cause thirst, too, and my blood iron...

Hello Harvest Moon Welcome to the forum. I'm so sorry that you have experienced this. Just a suggestion but please check it out first with a pharmacist or doctor. I know a couple of people who have to take drugs of that ilk that upset their stomach. I understand their doctors get them to take an omeprazole capsule/tab first, waiting for a...

Hi Matt, and welcome to the forum! I'm so sorry you are going through this. I have had arm and hand numbness at night and was diagnosed with ulnar compression. When it struck, it took a few moments for my hands to feel normal after waking. This started about six months before I was diagnosed with celiac disease. It comes back from time to...

Thanks so much, Posterboy!

That's a great tip. I've stopped taking it so I'll give it another try!

Yes - seeing close up is what brings on my one eye aura. I went to the doctors and the opticians and they seemed to think that as I am predisposed to migraines it was just another type. I've had a few MRIs in the past but they didn't offer me one on this occasion. Perhaps they felt as I was a migraine veteran I didn't need to have further tests, but as...

Hi Cathylinds Have you suffered from any type of migraine before? I seem to have had all sorts through the years. Pain and nausea, often starting in my neck, then auras both eyes, and after going gluten free a rapid improvement, only to get what they think is an aura in my right eye when I peer at black and white print which started after about...
