  1. Yes, French Fancies have to be next on the list. Yum. I wish you hadn't mentioned them, I want one NOW. It's great Mr Kipling are now in the ring. But I can't eat gluten-free oat flour so in actual fact I can't eat their bakewell cake....
  2. Wow JMG, thanks for letting us know. Meanwhile, 'ere in rural middle of nowhere, our Tescos Express has practically empty shelves - like there has been a run on gluten free biscuits, cake and pasta. Very odd? Maybe the shelves looked full, until you posted your piccy 6 hours ago. Handbags at dawn. While I'm online, I feel I must recommend Tescos...
  3. Its great - it tastes just how I remember Marmite used to taste - but then again, after four years of eating gluten-free bread which is beginning to taste like I remember glutenous bread - think I'm just getting used to it! - I'm not sure if I'd trust my sense of taste these days.
  4. I've not been a member of C UK for a couple of years now but I thought Snickers were OK in their last book? I think I need to join again. However, changing the subject, I have just discovered Tesco's own yeast extract spread, unlike Marmite, does not have gluten listed in its ingredients. Hooray!
  5. Come the Revolution all Lindt will be Gluten Free.
  6. This is great! Good of you to share (and nice of Coeliac UK to make the list accessible to those who are not members). Isn't it great, too, that we can eat Dairy Milk again for a while without gluten! Sooner or later I hope the penny will drop at Cadbury's that they don't need to stick gluten in their chocolate bars.
  7. Ah ... so that's why I've got a sweet tooth! Now I understand! Oddly enough I don't drink, smoke, do drugs or eat fast food either (although I did have a Gourmet Kitchen Burger the other day - did you know they did gluten-free? It was amazing!) So before I leave the doughnut question behind I'd just like to say, if a food manufacturer is reading...
  8. I can't help feeling this thread is flying in the opposite direction of whole food eating advice that seems to flood the rest of the forum. Us Brits are letting the side down! And yum, those apple filled iced doughnuts were soooo delicious.
  9. They look good and if I manage to track them down I'll let you know ... but I haven't seen them either. BTW I'm sorry I reminded you of something you didn't realise you missed! What I really miss at the moment is one of those doughnuts with icing on them. I think I spot a hole in the market! Tee hee!
  10. Has anyone found or tried any gluten free doughnuts in the UK? Something I really miss all of a sudden.
  11. Toblerone Almondy is another good gluten free cake. I'd also like to say 'full marks' to Marks and Sparks (!) as I noticed that when I was preparing some ready meals for my family the other days they stamp allergens on the removeable film on the top of the containers. Oh dear... just reading this entry makes me realise just how much I'm relying...
  12. I think there has been a direct correlation with my anemia and hair thinning. Unfortunately I have to limit my iron intake as I have a suspected blood disorder but I'm a rare case - under normal circumstances I'd be supplementing much more as I feel it makes quite a difference. If I were you I'd get your iron tested and then supplement if on the low side...
  13. Its good they found nothing on ultrasound. I was going to suggest that maybe it might be a hernia but I think an unltrasound would detect a hernia? When I was firs diagnosed I had lost a lot of weight very rapidly (about 10Ibs) and I was very bloated but also aware of lumps rather like you describe on either side, just above the hip/groin area. I asked...
  14. Just discovered that Mr Kipling are now doing gluten-free cakes and I found one in Tescos. If you have oat sensitivity check the labels but I have to say the Cherry Bakewell Loaf Cake is an 'Exceedingly Good Cake'!
  15. Another great gluten free menu! A great recommendation about Cote Restaurants from Gemini has just appeared on a separate thread. I have decided to share it here as having done a bit more homework I cannot believe what a good gluten-free menu Cote has. I am also surprised to find that we have one less than half an hour's drive away. Here is the...
  16. Thanks so much, posterboy. My nutritionalist has also advised me to try to keep levels stable to stop neuropathy from getting worse. It was good to read your advice. Much appreciated.
  17. Ditto. I've been doing the same!
  18. I know exactly what you are talking about. I share a house with gluten eaters and I think that accounts for some cc. Also, I tend to buy the sort of food that you might find in Coeliac UK's book that does not declare it is gluten free, but they deem safe. Maybe small amounts are getting in that way. But my underlying neuro symptoms, which I think are...
  19. Thank you so much for getting back to me. I don't get grey patches but eithert tiny sparkling lights in my centre vision, or sometimes what I can only describe as what looks like water on a windscreen, either in a tiny line acrross my central vision or sometimes covering a third of my central vision. It does not obscure my vision, I can still see but...
  20. Sorry to go slightly off piste but what is your eye issue, JMG, if you don't mind my asking? My right one isn't quite right since I got ill although I pass my eye tests and had a retinal scan an all appears well. Oh - and an MRI. I am no stranger to tests!
  21. Yes, well, sort of - but my pack looked like this. http://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=293498895 Good old Tescos! But I see that like those you have posted, they are a limited production run. Maybe that is a blessing in disguise. Although you may find there are some in the shop still. We bought ours only a few days ago in Havant...
  22. Good news for you JMG - this Christmas I found a big bag of Cadbury's Milk Chocolate chunks wrapped individually and gluten was not mentioned on the ingredients list. They were delicious! So lovely to eat Dairy Milk again. Let's hope the fruit and nut varieties follow suit. And now I need to go on a diet!
  23. Now heard of two people who have been having symptoms but the tests ended at stomach level, they took no samples of the small intestine. I wonder how common that is - how many people could be slipping through the net?
  24. Wow - thanks for this tip off. I miss cheesecake... The iced mince pies are delicious! Sainsbury's gluten-free tortellini are a new find. Really good but only cook them for the 1 minute - they start to go too soft otherwise. What I do miss is Cadbury's Fruit and Nut. I wish they didn't have to put wheat in their chocolate - it's odd, because...
