  1. Burt's Bees lip shimmers are gluten-free. I see them at just about every drug store, even grocery stores now.
  2. Yep--I also go to Starbucks frequently, am super sensitive, and have not had a problem. I don't drink coffee, but I do get tea lattes a lot.
  3. Sorry you had to answer your own post I would have probably just used all white rice flour, since there was cornstarch in the recipe. Also, almond flour might have been good. Gluten Free Pantry has an excellent pancake mix, too.
  4. Before I was diagnosed, I frequently felt that I needed to take deep breaths and when I would answer the phone people would ask me what I was doing because I sounded out of breath. My doctor told me that was a symptom of anemia (I was quite anemic at the time).
  5. My personal reaction to eggs was terrible nausea. It would hit like clockwork about 4 hours after I would eat them (delayed allergy). I think the best way to handle it would be to cut them out completely for say, 6 months, and then try a little if you want. It does take a while to figure all of this out--getting the gluten-free diet firstoff and...
  6. While I wouldn't call it "common", it's certainly not unusual for Celiacs to have additional food intolerances. I was very intolerant to eggs when I became gluten-free 4 years ago. After staying away from them for a while, I can now use them in recipes with absolutely no problem--I still can't eat them plain, as in scrambled eggs--although my reaction to...
  7. Nuts and nut butters if you can tolerate them--peanut or almond are easily available in the regular grocery store. Avocados are good, too. Cheeses--if you can do dairy--full fat yogurt would be good for the yeast infection, too. I love the plain Greek kind with some fruit and nuts mixed in. Use good oils like extra virgin olive on your salads and...
  8. It seems like it's everywhere, doesn't it? Yes, you want to cut way down on sugar, corn syrup and anything that contains a lot of it like cookies, cakes, soda, and the like. Remember that your body recognizes starches as sugar, too. Not forever--just to get to where you have no more symptoms. Then, you can try adding back things a little at a...
  9. Hi and welcome! I had much the same problem--I was never one to get yeast infections. I'm much older than you, but I think I may have had 2 that required medication. After going gluten-free, I notice I get those mild symptoms if I eat a lot of gluten-free baked goods or drink soda a couple days in a row. For now, why not try cutting the sugar...
  10. I'm absolutely fine with eggs in a recipe mixed with other ingredients, but I get nauseated if I eat them plain, as in scrambled eggs.
  11. Glad to be of help, Lisa. I finally got to the point where I kind of knew that there was something else at play concerning the BP. No matter how well I adhered to what I was told to do (take the meds, lose weight, etc) it never seemed to make a difference. You're right, it's disappointing and discouraging. I could never tolerate the Hydrochlorothizide...
  12. http://www.medicinenet.com/script/main/art...rticlekey=20242 http://www.americanheart.org/presenter.jht...ntifier=3025171 http://diabetes.webmd.com/guide/insulin-resistance-syndrome Lisa--here are a few. I basically read everything I could find on this--both published articles and anecdotal. The thing is that 10 years ago when my BP was first...
  13. I noticed that I responded to this thread quite a while ago, so I wanted to update. I was on BP meds for years--I had to switch at one point due to side effects and then an allergy. My readings were ok at home--130's/80's for the most part but were much higher in the doctor's office--160/100 was not unusual. I recently cut out sugar and starchy...
  14. Had to pop back to see how you did--glad it went so well!
  15. Oh you poor thing--please try not to panic, it's going to be fine I've had it done twice--once with a colonoscopy thrown in ! It doesn't take long, you won't feel a thing, and when you wake up you'll feel like you just took the best nap. Honestly, you're going to be fine. Take a deep breath
  16. I'm terribly sensitive to the slightest bit of gluten and am happy to say that I've never had an issue with wine of any kind. Thank goodness
  17. Just a thought--I react to many deodorants, but I don't think it's because of gluten. I've become more sensitive all the way around since going gluten-free, and this includes my skin. What works very well for me is a crystal deodorant. I've been using it now for probably 3 years, and I've not had any itching or anything. The brand I use is Thai. It...
  18. Claritin is gluten-free--I use it often this time of year
  19. I've taken 2 Caltrate tablets a day now for the last couple of years. I called them when I first bought it, and at that time I was told it was both gluten and dairy free. I have not checked since then, and continue to tolerate it well. I'm sensitive to most suppliments I've tried, but I'm fine with the Caltrate
  20. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  21. Hi LadyC, Glad you found us! I suffered from panic attacks for years before being diagnosed. All those years, I had no idea that it was something I was eating--and for a long time, I didn't even know what the panic attacks themselves were. I would get a racing heart, feel overheated, breathless, and nauseous, and had an overwhelming feeling of fear...
  22. What good news!! Thank goodness
  23. My gastroenterologist told me that there was an increased risk of intestinal lymphoma with Celiac Disease. The test to ask for would be an Upper GI.
  24. Mine was done through Quest and it had to be sent to Virginia (I'm in PA). It took about a week.
  25. Judy-- Yes it is gluten-free, per Customer Care #877-932-7948.
