  1. I have facial numbness primarily on the left side. It's gotten much better since going gluten-free. Before I was diagnosed, I also had numbness and an altered feeling in my arm, and both of these along with tingling in my legs. At that point, the facial numbness was constant and was accompanied by tingling and frequent feelings of intense heat. I...
  2. Wow Nancy--that's great news! It's always good when we begin to "close in" on the cause of symptoms--and in time for vacation
  3. This is interesting! Incidently, the mix that started me wondering about tapioca was Pamela's Brownies. They were so good, but when I ate one, I'd get the stomach pain. Then, the same thing happened with Gluten Free Pantry's Spice Cake mix. I switched to some of the Gluten Free Pantry mixes that don't contain tapioca. There are several, and they...
  4. Oh yes--I discovered I was intolerant to tapioca after reacting to certain gluten-free mixes, and a flour mix that I made myself. When I eat something made with tapioca, I first get a dry mouth--immediately, like while I'm still eating it. Then, I get an upset stomach--nausea and stomach pain. Very unpleasant Sorry you and your daughter are experiencing...
  5. I have internal hemmorhoids (found during colonoscopy), and have a small amount of blood, usually just on the toilet paper, from time to time. I agree with speaking to your doctor about it again, just to set your mind at ease. This is something you want to be sure about
  6. Dove's Smooth and Soft Anti Frizz Cerme is also very good.
  7. I can not tolerate filtered water--I'm intolerant to coconut and most filters use coconut hulls in their filters. I found this out when the filtered water from my new refrigerator began to make me sick. I drink bottled spring water--not just any bottled water, because a lot of them are just filtered tap water. Have you tried a spring water, such as...
  8. Thanks for all you do. You're the greatest!

  9. Thanks for the sweet Christmas card!!!!!!! Merry Christmas, sweetie! xoxo

  10. I had a similar attack last night, although mine was down lower. It was so intense that if it had been on the right side instead of the left, I would have gone to the ER thinking I had appendicitis. I did not sleep at all--every time I shifted position, the pain shot through me. I took Extra Strength Bufferin, and tried not to move! I finally...
  11. You said "grainy". Does you mouth also feel dry? I get a very dry feeling in my mouth with certain foods that I'm intolerant to. Tapioca does this to me as well as some nuts.
  12. Nicole-- That is good news! I'm so glad that, at least, the MS has been ruled out.
  13. I haven't noticed a difference, either. I've been gluten-free for just over a year. I've been on blood pressure medication for about 8 years. The diet has not changed my bp at all. I still take 2 different medicines for it. I keep hoping, but as of yet, it's not changed. It does stay well controlled with the meds, though.
  14. Nantzie--I think I get what you describe when I eat something I'm intolerant to (not just gluten). The other day, I had a reaction from cornstarch. I had D for the rest of the afternoon, and now I have a tender spot on my lip--upper lip where it meets the skin on the left side. If I press it, it hurts, but there is nothing on the surface at all. They...
  15. Here ya go Lynne-- http://healthlink.mcw.edu/article/930606151.html
  16. Those are the delayed food allergies (intolerances) I was refering to. Keeping a food diary is the best way to keep track of his reactions. That way, you can begin to see a pattern--for example, if he is having D two days after eating a certain food, and it is the same reaction after eating the food several times. This method takes time, but is worth it...
  17. I'll weigh in here with something my Allergist/Immunologist told me when I asked about having a blood test for food intolerance. He said that once we eat a particular food, we develop antibodies to it. That's why there are so many false positives. He recommends the elimination diet approach. He was not being completely closed-minded, as he told me of...
  18. Bully4You--thank you for the information! I'm definately going to look for the salt--it sounds great. It's nice to know about the seasoning mix, also.
  19. Thanks--I've never noticed it, but will look for it the next time! Sounds great
  20. Bev--Julie listed the legumes--and yes, wax beans are legumes. Chick peas and split peas, also. As far as nuts, I can do almonds--but right now, almond butter is too concentrated for me. I stick to the smaller amount in say, a Lara Bar or a few plain almonds. I don't want to rock the boat!! But I do miss nut butter with apple slices...
  21. Bev--I'm glad that the legume thing struck a chord--the legumes are what took me the longest to figure out! I love peanut butter, and was bound and determined not to give that up, too! But on the days I ate it, I would get the bad gas and the sweatiness. The gas was so bad, I literally was afraid to be around anyone--seriously! Add to that, I was also...
  22. Well, I have to say--you look pretty darn relaxed there!
