  1. I used to work in the diagnostics industry. It is highly likely that it is the marketing department, not the white coat wearers, who like the combined testing, allowing their product to be different from the competition.

  5. Cascade or reflex testing is where they don't do all the tests at once, but based on initial results the testing may be continued. It happens in the lab, it is not a case of going back to the doctor for the decision to continue. For example, when I am tested the lab only does the EMA if the Ttg is positive.   6. I had high antibodies, no symptoms, and a positive biopsy. I am glad you are getting a second opinion. I'm glad celiac can be treated (gluten free diet) without a doctor's prescription, since so many doctors do a poor job diagnosing it.

  8. It seems strange to be tested for celiac or gluten sensitivity if you have no symptoms, unless you have a close relative with celiac. It will be interesting to see what sort of test was actually performed.

  10. I would be very unhappy if I had a strictly gluten free household and someone brought gluten into it. My household is not completely gluten free (my husband prepares foods with gluten in a separate area) but I'd still be unhappy if guests expected to eat gluten in my house. It's your health, not just a preference.

  12. I eat their chips but not their cocoa. I used to, but then the cocoa label changed to say that it may contain wheat (or is made in a facility with wheat, I forget which).   13. They seem to be good about saying things may contain wheat when their products are made on shared equipment, for example their ground chocolate which I no longer use. This is the reply I got a year ago (March 2015) when asking about their 60% cacao chips. "Dear Consumer, There is no wheat in our 60% chips and no wheat in our chips facility...

  18. Bunnies can eat more than one type of hay. If alfalfa bothers you, you could try timothy. Although it might be hard to always buy the type that doesn't bother you. i think the local house rabbit society sells a mix (at least they used to - it has been years since I had a bunny).

  21. When my husband and I were dating I made him a box of "bachelor chow". It was meant as a joke, but he ate it! To the OP, I think it is wonderful that you want to cook healthy foods for your wife.
  22. I made a Grand Marnier Souffle with Creme Anglaise for dessert last night. First time I've made it since going gluten free. I just substituted cornstarch for flour and it came out fine.
