  1. I have adrenal insufficiency, which is one form of Addison's. My problem is, that a doctor in Germany diagnosed me last year (when I was so low on energy that I really couldn't do anything any more), but the idiot doctors here in Canada refuse to acknowledge his diagnosis, and refuse to prescribe the medications I need (which he prescribed in Germany, and...
  2. Jestgar, the problem with actually finding scientific studies to prove my point is, that the government and big pharma will only fund studies that will prove that fat causes obesity. And if it proves the opposite, they'll be dismissed and never published. Because they have decided beforehand what they want to prove, and by heck, they will prove it, even if...

  6. Wow, it completely confirms what my own research has shown, and what I have been saying (and getting blasted for regularly). I completely believe what this doctor is saying. Also, I had always assumed that when biopsies of tumours are done, that they actually biopsy the INSIDE of the tumour! It appears that is not the case at all. So, if they don't cut...
  7. The GI who said that you could still have celiac disease despite a negative blood test and biopsy is right. The blood tests aren't all that reliable, and he biopsy is hit and miss. They only take biopsies from the upper third of the small intestine, but the damage can be lower down than that. Also, if your villi are still in the beginning stages of pathology...
  8. Oh, goodness, you should NEVER take the fixings off any sandwich or pizza (or the croutons off a salad), and then eat them! They are cross-contaminated and NOT safe at all. You have too many intolerances, meaning that there must be another underlying problem besides gluten intolerance. I am in the same boat, and I am working on finding out what is causing...
  9. To help pay for the GI doctor's new yacht. Seriously, at this point, the visit would likely be as useless as that visit to the dietician. Have you noticed any positive changes since starting the gluten-free diet?
  10. How was she diagnosed, with both positive blood work and positive biopsy? Is she still consuming dairy and soy? Those will often hinder healing, and can actually cause pretty much the same symptoms as celiac disease. If she hasn't done so already, it would be wise to eliminate those two. How long ago was she diagnosed? Are you sure she is 100% gluten...
  11. Ugh, why oh why are doctors so ignorant when it comes to celiac disease? He should have had the full celiac disease panel done, which includes five different tests. The one negative really is meaningless. Anyway, just keep him gluten-free and make sure you report everything for the doctor. At his age, the diet is the best test anyhow.
  12. Unless you eat fermented soy (fermented for several years), it really isn't fit to be eaten. It is highly toxic and a lot of people (and pets) are intolerant to soy.
  13. It could be that you have switched from one bad thing to another. Eliminating dairy seems like a good move, but replacing it with soy may not be so great. Try rice milk (not Rice Dream, it has barley malt). It may or may not work, but it is worth a try.
  14. I am really wondering why in the world all the bird food has gluten in it. In the wild parrots absolutely do NOT eat gluten grains! They live in the jungle, where they live on fruits, nuts, seeds etc. Here is a good website with ideas on how to feed your parrots without any of the gluten stuff you have been feeding them (which is probably not even good...
  15. Did you get the results of the blood work back yet? If he can't see your doctor until September, and is on the gluten-free diet now, you realize that he can't have a biopsy any more than, right? Because it will be meaningless by then, if his villi are damaged, they'd have healed by then. But you should measure and weigh him now, and keep a diary of what...
  16. Well, obviously he is very short. He looks like a normal two-year-old, which is definitely a red flag for celiac disease. My kids always had small bums, and so do my daughter's children. Her kids have been on the gluten-free diet (plus other intolerances) for two years now and the ones who were too skinny have gained weight and height. Still, they are slim...
  17. I looked at your pictures. How old is he? He looks just like a slim kid to me, not painfully skinny. With so many overweight kids running around, a slim kid can look too skinny. Still, even if he is not too skinny, if he has symptoms of celiac disease, he can have it. Not all people with celiac disease are too skinny by far, lots look just fine, and almost...
  18. Right, I used to get that annoying eye twitch frequently before being on the gluten-free diet. Now I haven't had it in probably two years. Marcus, I assure you, you don't want to go back on gluten once you've been off it for a while. Your symptoms will likely be worse then, and make you really ill. It is much easier to stay on gluten until after the testing...
  19. Hi Marcus, and welcome to our forums. You sound like you could possibly have celiac disease. Did you know that celiac disease can cause schizophrenia? They are more linked than you realize. The reason is, that gliadin can cross the brain blood barrier, and in gluten intolerant people it might act like an opiod, which can cause hallucinations and other symptoms...
  20. Well, most of those are covered by a gluten-free diet. Gliadin, gluten, wheat, rye, spelt and triticale all indicate celiac disease. Gliadin and gluten are the parts of the grain that make us sick, spelt is one kind of wheat, and triticale is a wheat/rye hybrid. The only other gluten grain not on the list is barley. On top of that is eggs, dairy, pineapple...
  21. If your test number would have been sky high a week ago, they would likely still be positive. If they weren't, they might end up being false negatives, even if they would have been positive a week ago. If you want a biopsy done, again, unless you can have it done in a week or so, you don't need to bother unless you start eating gluten again. It would still...
  22. You can have genetic testing done through Open Original Shared Link (they have it done by the Red Cross), and it is a cheek swab. If done through the doctor's office, I believe it is a blood test.
  23. I agree, I actually grew another inch or so when I was twenty! Two of my girls did the same thing. So, it is obviously possible.
  24. You are right in saying that finally being diagnosed with celiac disease is a big relief after being ill so long! I was in the same boat, but didn't figure it out until I was 52. I was labeled a hypochondriac for most of my life. As for the coffee, you really should avoid anything right now that upsets your stomach. Since coffee will do that, you need...
  25. There is no whey in wheat, whey is always from dairy.
