are you going to take the vaccine
icelandgirl replied to DJFL77I's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi AWOL, Thank you for sharing your experience with all of us. I suspect that my daughter had COVID early last year when there was no testing available where we live. I've never seen her so ill. Flu and strep tests were negative. Several of her cIassmates were also very sick, including one who wound up in the hospital for quite a while. I don't... -
Has Anyone Gotten Covid Shot(s) Yet?
icelandgirl replied to Kate333's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I had my first Pfizer vaccine 2 days ago. I was so impressed with how efficient the process was. I felt great after. That evening my arm became sore. The next morning it was really sore, but felt similar to a flu shot. Yesterday afternoon I developed a headache and last night I was exhausted and a bit nauseous. I went to bed and this morning I feel... -

icelandgirl replied to DJFL77I's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I got my first dose of Pfizer yesterday! I felt literally nothing until a few hours later when my arm became a bit sore. This morning I woke up and it's fairly sore(similar to the flu shot) and I have a bit of a headache. I'm just thankful for the opportunity to get it and the hope of moving forward! -

icelandgirl replied to DJFL77I's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That's good to hear, Scott! I know several people who've gotten either Pfizer or Moderna. Most have experienced only a sore arm, a couple also were tired and had body aches. My husband gets his today and I'm planning for next week. We decided to spread ours out in case of any issue so someone can take care of the kiddos! -
Ttg levels
icelandgirl replied to Chris-B's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Chris! I think that's good progress! It took about 18 months for my levels to get to normal. I remember being tested at 6 months and they had come down, but were still above normal, but a year later they were perfect! It sounds like you are doing the right things, keep up the good work! -
Hi MJ! I have had this deep belching issue before as well! In my chart, my Dr put it down as eructation. I wound up doing some elimination stuff to figure out what was going on, which isn't all that fun to do, but it was worth it in the end. I found that my probiotic was part of the problem. It contained inulin and I just can't digest it properly...

Can you get DH as a new symptom later on?
icelandgirl replied to cristiana's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I'm glad it's helping!! No snow here...the Northeast got quite a bit...we are expecting temps in the 60s today and it's sunny...it doesn't seem like winter at all! -
Can you get DH as a new symptom later on?
icelandgirl replied to cristiana's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Hi Cristiana, I don't think it's worse in winter. I live in Colorado and it's extremely dry here all the time. Change of season does not seem to affect it. I'm not sure what makes it flare up...there must be something. So far, I can manage it with the cream I mentioned, but I do think I should probably have it looked at. Is yours any better... -
Can you get DH as a new symptom later on?
icelandgirl replied to cristiana's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Yes, we are twins! Sometimes mine itches more than other times and sometimes not at all...but it does look like pictures of psoriasis plaques that I've seen. Last night it was very itchy and I just want to keep scratching, instead I put on the Cerave psoriasis treatment and it helped to relieve it. It does seem to flare up? But I have no idea what causes... -

icelandgirl replied to cristiana's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Hi Cristiana, Such an interesting topic...I don't have an answer, but I have the same type of thing. On the nape of my neck and into the hairline is a rash that I decided was psoriasis a while ago. It can be extremely itchy...drives me mad. And then other times not as much, but it doesn't seem to go away completely. I've had it for a while and have... -

icelandgirl replied to DJFL77I's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
RMJ, thank you so much for your insights...so much knowledge! I do plan to take it when it becomes available to me...I'm about to turn 50 so I think it will still be a bit, but a yes from me! -
I saw this earlier today and am so disappointed. I've been eating Canyon bread and bagels for years and always felt like it was safe, but now I feel like it's not. It's hard to understand how a company that makes only gluten free products and does so in a gluten free facility can have a case of gluten contamination?

Thank you so much for sharing this...really interesting. I had no idea we were less responsive to vaccines or that we were more susceptible to pneumonia. Do we know why that is? I find it a bit scary. I've been taking this all very seriously, I wear a mask...I have mask station set up right by our front door so that everyone can grab one on their...

Pain - referred gastric or something else?
icelandgirl replied to cristiana's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Cristiana, Have you tried DGL? I had gastritis a couple of years ago and found it to be very soothing. When I was in the worst of it I took it a few times a day. Now when I get a little heartburn or anything like that I take one too. Might be worth a try if you haven't already. I hope you feel better! ((Hugs)) -

Hi Cristiana... I'm so sorry that you are having this issue (((((Hugs))))). Is it possible it could have to do with your Rhomboid muscle? A strain or spasm...I found this and it sounded similar... https://www.summitmedicalgroup.com/library/adult_health/sma_rhomboid_muscle_strain/#:~:text=A rhomboid spasm is a,objects on a high shelf I... -

One of my friends tried this today and said it was delish! I decided to do something new/different today. I took a free online ballet class. I haven't done ballet since I was 10! My arms are super sore already from holding the positions, but it was fun and something new for exercise. Our school district got the notice today that we are out until... -

Our family made masks out of bandanas and rubber bands...it gets hot in there! At least we have something! Cyclinglady...so cool that you are sewing masks for others...love that. (((Hugs))) My kids are struggling with this too. I have one in college, one in high school and one in elementary. All of them miss their friends a lot...therefore comfort... -

3+ weeks at home and I would love some ideas too! I have kids to keep entertained too and we've baked together, done a lot of art type things(my 8 year old has made multiple batches of slime), watched movies, built with Legos, board games, etc. As of last week the kids went back to school for eLearning...that is a challenge in itself as I am not a teacher...
