Sparse toilet paper and bananas 🍌
icelandgirl replied to Awol cast iron stomach's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
We managed to get toilet paper yesterday! I also put in a pick up order at the store and got about 90% of my items which I was excited about. I have not been able.to find any Clorox wipes yet, which I would really like to find. Our governor locked down the state as of this morning which feels absolutely surreal. We also had to go to my daughter's... -
I ventured out briefly yesterday and was able to get loaves of Canyon bakehouse bread and some bagels. I didn't look for anything else specifically, I was trying to get in and out quickly! I did notice that the store was out of meat, very low on canned goods and completely out of frozen fruits and veggies.

It's painful, isn't it? I had mine out 16 years ago and still remember how bad I felt! You will be feeling much better really soon!

My kids are off for 2 weeks, although I suspect that will be extended. We have a decent amount of food at our house regularly, because with 3 kids including 2 teenagers we go through a lot. I went to Costco 2 days ago to get a few things and they were completely out of chicken and beef of any kind. Shelves were fairly empty...it was a bit spooky.... -
Hi Cristiana, I do believe that a symptom of perimenopause is nausea. It certainly is for me at times. I don't actually get sick, but will feel like I'm going to. I googled the two together and found a bunch of articles...this one is pretty easy reading and makes a lot of sense. Hope that helps! https://flo.health/menstrual-cycle/menopause...

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
icelandgirl replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I do enjoy the instant pot. I love the Mac and cheese I make in it and have used it for a variety of other things too. For me it was a bit of a learning curve too! -

That's good to know mbrookes! The fries were decent, but I do believe that there's a bit of a learning curve involved. I think I'm going to have to check out that cookbook! Tonight I'm trying breaded chicken tenders in the air fryer...air fryer part 2! I'm also going to make Mac and cheese in the Instant pot and a salad. ? -

Tonight hubby is grilling burgers and I'm breaking out the new Air Fryer...hoping to get some good fries to go with! -
Yes! We do this too! We will go out of our way to drive to a dedicated establishment and then once we're there I'm like a kid in a candy store!

I live in a town with a dedicated gluten free restaurant and I can't tell you how nice it is to go out to eat and not have to ask any questions. Everything is gluten free. My kids don't have to be gluten free and they all love the food. It's my 16 year olds favorite restaurant. They've been open for a number of years, since before I was diagnosed...

Hi kareng, The recipe is from one of the Skinnytaste cookbooks. Basically, it's pizza toppings rolled up inside thin chicken breast, coated in bread crumbs and baked, then topped with sauce and more cheese and baked again. My whole family loves it! -

We are expecting snow this evening (Colorado), but it has been extremely hot for this time of year! Tonight I am making chicken pizza roll-ups, buttered noodles and a salad. -
Desperate for Help.
icelandgirl replied to KariB's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi KariB and ((((hugs))))! I just looked at your lab results and unless I'm missing something you tested positive on the.antigliadin Igg test. To me, a positive is a positive and you should be getting referred for an endoscopy. Your Dr did not order a full celiac panel, but it's possible you might test positive on other parts of it too. If you want... -
Hi LA, I'm sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. (((((Hugs))))) It doesn't sound like you've had a full celiac panel (Ennis lists the tests above). Many Dr's will only check the main one TTG IgA, which is unfortunate, because some people may only get a positive on one of the other tests. I'm also wondering if you've had a full thyroid...

Erythritol side effects?
icelandgirl replied to Sarahcat58's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Sarah! I react to any sugar alcohol I've tried, for me it's mostly gas, bloating and D. I avoid anything with sugar alcohol in it now. I drink Vita Coco coconut water and love it! You could try not drinking it for a bit and then reintroducing it if you want to know for sure. Hope you feel better! -
Seeking treatment for Histamine Intolerance
icelandgirl replied to FruitEnthusiast's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Fruitenthusiast! I remember you from a few years ago. This is definitely a board for NCGI still. ? Gottaski is definitely the person I would go to for HI. She was diagnosed with MCAS, I believe. She is not around much at all. I can't actually remember the last time I saw her post, but you could try DMing her. I've done that in the past... -
Hi healthysquirrel, I had a terrible bout of vertigo 2 years ago while on vacation. I woke up to my world spinning, had to hold on to things to walk and was throwing up. Luckily I remembered my mom having gone through it and called her. She recommended the Epley. My husband googled it and helped me through it. It got rid of the vertigo and I haven...

Still have symptoms, related to something else?
icelandgirl replied to ebutton's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi ebutton, It's possible to have it be related to celiac or something else. It does seem like a lot of people do still have issues years down the road, which is discouraging. I agree with cyclinglady...if you haven't had follow up bloodwork done recently, do that. Just in case. The other thing that comes to mind is thyroid. A lot of celiacs... -
Trouble shopping
icelandgirl replied to mbrookes's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi mbrookes! I was able to click on some categories and see products, but I'm not sure what you are looking for. I order all of my breads and bagels directly from Canyon Bakehouse. I can usually find a coupon code to use to get an even better price. My whole family loves their breads and bagels! Do you have a Sprouts or Natural Grocers anywhere...
