This will probably sound like a silly question but bear with me! My children and I all have celiac, therefore, my outnumbered husband stays pretty much 100% gluten free at home, making our entire home gluten free. I have no idea idea if celiac can cause this, but my husband experienced the same thing you describe when tapering off of his antidepressant, and also a benzodiazepine.
