Lack of motivation, adderal the solution?
Ennis-TX replied to Victoria1234's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Wow, I was on the EXACT same stuff, it is basically medical speed, amphetamine. Yeah it will motivate you but it is addictive and withdrawal is a real nightmare with it. I use EXTRA b-vitamins and give myself a extra kick with a red eye coffee sometimes now days to avoid those pills. And I do not want to go through that withdrawal again. I would honestly... -
Yeah I need someone to attend with me, I had someone else but they canceled on me. The hotel room is booked from the 16th-20th of August. I can pick up from the airport, greyhound, or train station and drop off if need be, room is booked from the 16th technically a day before the convention so you have time for sightseeing. Room is a double queen and you...

Quite new and worried
Ennis-TX replied to Rebelliott's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
9 years ago I was over 200lbs, health started going down hill in college and dropped to under 125 3 years ago. Gaining weight again and now it is muscle. I found I had to add in KAL nutritional yeast to my meals at least 2-6tbsp a meal for the stuff I was not getting due to food intolerance and removing processed foods. Stuff really does help quite a... -
Simple Flatbread/pizza/pancake base Grain Free
Ennis-TX replied to Ennis-TX's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I was thinking of trying it like 1tbsp maple syrup and upping the egg whites by 10-20g Should make a giant 9"pancake basically with maple flavoring. Not tried it yet but it should work. I was thinking making that version for giant pancake (to thin to pour into smaller ones) that you cook low and slow and can perhaps even use for a breakfast pizza crust with... -
Drop the dairy and if your eating any drop oats. Enzymes to digest lactose are produced by the tips of the villi, so your going to have issues with til they heal. Remove for a few months at least change over to a nut based milk, some hard cheeses might still be fine but you might want to change over to vegan/dairy free versions of it for a while then try...

confused
Ennis-TX replied to Tiffany1012's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Some people will always test negative on the blood test, odd and rare but it happens. You also have to be eating gluten on a daily basis for the antibodies to show up for it in the test for at least 12 weeks. You can follow up with a endoscope and biopsy, if your having gut issues this might be a great idea to rule out other issues. I might also suggest a... -
No Oj for me today
Ennis-TX replied to Awol cast iron stomach's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have a friend who reacts to raw oranges, apples, and bananas. Funny thing is they are fine with cooked foods using them and pasturized orange juice. Some odd food allergy that gets broken down with heat. SIDE NOTE. I just reintroduced iceberg lettuce, and romaine after not having any in 4 months......I HAVE A NEW INTOLERANCE. even just plain iceberg... -
US Tax Deductions for gluten-free as a Celiac
Ennis-TX replied to Ennis-TX's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Ah found https://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p502.pdf The nima I think falls under diagnostic devices, really need to ask and accountant on that one lol. gluten-free versions of medications and any supplements that are not prescribed by a doctor are not covered and can not be deducted. All the food can be and the price differences between them as long... -
So I keep a itemized list of my flours, mixes, pizza crust, breads, noodles that I use that are gluten-free with the price I paid, the price the plain name brand is for the gluten version, and the price difference. I also keep copies of all the receipts for a audit if they require one. For submission on tax deductions at the end of the year. I do have a few...

Soft Drinks? What's the deal?
Ennis-TX replied to pdm1981's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
DO NOT drink the 1893 Pepsi soda. The stuff uses malt extract, just recalled that huge issue that brought up with people. -
Old post from 2004, anyway, non dairy options daiya, follow your heart, lisanatti are gluten free. Kraft claims all products are gluten free unless wheat is listed as a ingredient. I have been personally expirmenting with making dairy free shredable cheese blocks using gelatin in nut based cheese sauce. So far mixed results, works great with cashew cheese...

Never heard of the finger issues myself either odd one...... It is a mostly genetic disease, and a odd one at that is that the gene can stay dormant in someone for years then become activated due to various reasons. Regardless as mentioned first degree relatives should be tested. Celiac in some people is silent not showing any outward symptoms for years...

Restaurant owner in need of help
Ennis-TX replied to Nonceliac's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
No, they and anything that goes in that fryer is contaminated. Gluten proteins can only be destroyed at temps above 500F. IE a self clean function on a oven. PS anything that comes in contact directly, tongs, cook surface, prepsurface, etc is also a cc issue. If mostly gluten-free with only a few gluten items you might want to take more care and treat... -
I someone ask me about this, but freezer paper also called butcher paper can be bought in rolls and used to lay out on your counter for a clean working environment. It also makes cleaning up very simple as you just pick it up and clean it off or throw it away once it gets a bit too dirty. I buy HUGE rolls of this from a restaurant supply store and I will...

You should probably read up on the 101 guide, yes you can get exposed from kissing someone if they have eaten gluten in the past 24-48hours. CC is a major issue you might both be better off changing the whole house to gluten-free to make the transition easier, I will post a list of alternatives for gluten free and other options also. Going to a whole foods...

Biopsy negative
Ennis-TX replied to Hatbox121's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Unsure but that is why I use it on rotation with Magnesium Glycinate from Doctors Best, Not healthy to use the citrate all the time despite it being much more effective. I sometimes might go a few days without and change over to a softer foods diet of blended meals to keep it easy on my gut. TRUST me you will find magnesium to be a bloody life changer with... -
Biopsy negative
Ennis-TX replied to Hatbox121's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yeah the once a week constipation and random D, nausea, vomiting almost every meal?, do you find yourself sleeping alot and no amount of energy drinks help for long periods of time? Sound a bit like me 5 years ago. I would see about getting the FULL blood test and ENDOSCOPE with biopsy. PS Magnesium Citrate from Natural Vitality called Calm will work bloody... -
New Food Intolerance Diet - Have Some Questions
Ennis-TX replied to artpop's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Like my diet with reversed whites to yolks lol, except I avoid cabbage, fruits and for carb reasons not allergies and same reason I only eat cashews and pistachios in moderation also almonds are much cheaper (almonds make up most of my diet along with coconut and avocado). Stir Frys will be your best friends and stews, just make them with with what you can... -
You might want to avoid legumes, many with gut damage from celiac can not tolerate them well especially in the whole form. By adjustment I assume you mean the bloat from all the fiber? That takes about a month for your body to adjust to a high fiber diet, you will need to drink alot more water lol. Digestive enzymes will be a huge help, also avoid excess...

I have lucid dreams if I take it before bed, otherwise just darkness and the black void. I would think dreaming is a good sign regardless of nightmares etc. You mention lucid, as in you have control right? I have been actually enjoying them, as it is like some kind of odd game, where you can control what you will. Perhaps because I used to play video games...
