ARCHIVED Diarrhea after exposure - how long?
Ennis-TX replied to behr08's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
We normally suggest Imodium for this, but as your not allowed to due to the surgery I am unsure. Perhaps call your doctor/surgeon, and see if you can take it. They might say ok as more of a concern you do not have other issues from the the constant D leading to anemia, dehydration, and being deprived of nutrients. My only other thoughts are perhaps a bit... -

ARCHIVED insomnia after going gluten free
Ennis-TX replied to JennyRob's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I do suggest the testing, also but on the lines of natural sleep aids have your tried taking a few tsp of pumpkin seed protein before bed? "Pumpkin seeds and the powder from pumpkin seeds have relatively high amounts of the amino acid tryptophan. Tryptophan is the amino acid the body uses to make the feel-good and relaxation neurotransmitter serotonin... -
ARCHIVED Are my symptoms connected?
Ennis-TX replied to 1840monkey's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Several I know get the pregnant looking belly swelling with gluten, I get the constipation after day 2 of exposure and I used to have it last up to 10 days before I got my diagnosis. PS nothing ever helped with the constipation aside from 1-2 whole bottles of magnesium citrate laxatives. Keep eating gluten you need to be on it for 12 weeks for the blood... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Ataxia?
Ennis-TX replied to meeegun's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Gluten ataxia is SCARY the scariest thing is when your own body turns against you, you own mind turns against you, you mind loops, and you can not think straight. Then the long term nerve issues with loosing motor control, or loss of feelings....to this day I can sometimes grab a pan out of the oven and not noticed it is burning me til it is too late. Bad... -

ARCHIVED Overnight Hospital Stay
Ennis-TX replied to behr08's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I actually have red medical dog tags with my medical info, allergies, emergency contact, and AI issues on them, and my emergency contacts know where I keep emergency food bars and shakes to bring if I end up in the hospital. I have MRM Meal replacement which is a low carb vegan protein meal replacement, ANd while not the best tasting I have a mixed stash... -
Random thought for self testing. Buy Pure casein protein, pure lactose free whey protein, and remove all other dairy from your diet for a week. After 7 days try either the whey or the casein and use it for 2 days then stop see how you feel free of any dairy another 2 days then try the other for 2 days. All the while not having anything with lactose or other...

If it contains milk then it contains the proteins casein and whey, lactose is sometimes processed out, or removed/reduced with bacteria. Lactose is the sugar in milk if I am correct and is often the major culprit with people. Lactose is reduced in yogurt and cheeses by having bacteria eat the sugars chains that make up lactose hince why some people are not...

As for a bread free of those There is a company here in the US that makes a Almond/Coconut bread and ships it called Julians Bakery free of those also grain free, very low/no carb. They make a mix you can order online on amazon if outside the US along with many other mixes, Simple mills has some other stuff but most of theirs have sugars. But these are mostly...

Going to admit, the sugar free/carb free (Medically from other AI issues I can not have them) I had to do was a pain. I turned to stuff that does not bother me and I should not have like Xylitol and Erithriyol, along with a mix of stevia and monk fruit extract. Been mixing things up with flavor extracts to simulate things. I know I should drop cold turkey...

OK get the colonoscopy for the peace of mind, it is probably nothing but at least you will not be worried over it. Try to relax try some yoga, and talking you problems out with someone works wonders with the stress, writhing them out helps also....I know the stress of running a program/business with hardly any income on it and always stressing on it. PS...

ARCHIVED Campbell's Soups?
Ennis-TX replied to Stephanie1's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I always called cambells the dangerous brand. lol joked about the red label being a warning. If you must know why I say this, I have 2 uncles that work at the plant in Paris Tx. I inquired into the packing lines from them and gluten contamination. The canning machines are used on rotation for lots of soups. They flush them and clean out with a kind of pressure... -
ARCHIVED Enriching process
Ennis-TX replied to Victoria1234's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Some are, but I supplement with KAL Nutritional Yeast to make up for many things that are normally added to enriched foods. Let me see if I can attach the Nutritional Label for this You can better view it and buy it here (scroll Down) or on amazon stuff has a deep nutty flavor I use it in cheese sauce recipes, Spice Mixes (you can find these by me in the... -
ARCHIVED Stomach pain after almost anything?
Ennis-TX replied to diabetichero's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
The points above are good, food dairy is essential for tracking down culprits to making you feel like crap. I suggest a bit further knocking meals down to fewer ingredients, and trying to avoid condiments/spices/sauces. Try eating suspected foods on a rotation removing them from you diet for a few days to see how you do. In a shared house I always...- 4 replies

ARCHIVED Gluten Free in Shared Households
Ennis-TX replied to ysali's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Seems like you have done well with your own cooking set up, try using your own area like in your room if you can with the rack and table, use a new rice cooker/crock pot/steamer/pressure cooker combo appliance, with liners for easy clean up. Get a counter top microwave and nordic ware egg, omelette, steam tray, gril plate. etc microwave cooking ware. and... -
Tips here, get a fold out table for your own prep space/safe zone. Or use freezer/butcher paper on your prep surface. Get dedicated cook ware, if your cheap or in budget, I suggest getting nordicware microwave cook ware for omlettes, eggs, steamer, etc. so you can cook in a microwave and get a cheap counter top one of your own. I would also say get one of...

ARCHIVED Positive Blood Tests - Can I go gluten-free before Endoscopy?
Ennis-TX replied to taylorerin's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You have to be eating it at for at least 2 weeks prior to the endoscope. But getting off it then back on it later is MUCH worse. PS on the lactose issues....I know it is a issue, I have been lactose intolerant for 10+ years. But there are a TON of alternatives. I use Dairy Free cheese from several companies (each has strong and weak points and areas... -
I have been on a strict gluten free diet for over 3 years, I still had severe inflammation markers and inflamed intestines on my last check up. Seems I also had Ulcerative Colitis, which was reacting to other foods which was diagnosed at that time. Not had it checked since my new ketogenic diet and some meds they got me on to get it back down. The fever...

ARCHIVED Can Melatonin Increase Antibodies?
Ennis-TX replied to kvirmani's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Try 2-4 tsp of pumpkin seed protein powder before bed with 2-4 oz a nut based milk. "Pumpkin seeds and the powder from pumpkin seeds have relatively high amounts of the amino acid tryptophan. Tryptophan is the amino acid the body uses to make the feel-good and relaxation neurotransmitter serotonin. Pumpkin seeds also contain high amounts of zinc, which... -
Rectal Bleeding
Ennis-TX replied to Lesliean's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I had some bleeding issues for over a year, mine were related to Ulcerative Colitis (seems to have developed from celiac). But I had it where any kind of sugar or carb, dairy, and a few other things would trigger a flare up and I would get inflammation and bleeding. Like streaks in the stools, dark blotches, and globs of clots. Was super anemic with iron... -
ARCHIVED Red Meat Intolerance Related to Celiac?
Ennis-TX replied to BarryC's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Yeah pretty much the same for me, I only cook longhorn once a month for myself if that even. If you lived here in texas I would offer a split with you lol. SO much effort into smoking/slow cooking a bit of a roast for 8-12 hours. -
ARCHIVED Red Meat Intolerance Related to Celiac?
Ennis-TX replied to BarryC's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
As posterboy mentioned this does sometimes work...there is a huge rebound thing but some people here have used this method to success. Others it has not worked, bit of you have put up with a week of hell and see if it works for you. Stopping the PPIs and using the HCL and going on a no carb ketogenic diet for a week . For me it was HUGE NO, but my acid... -
ARCHIVED White rice causing stomach issues?
Ennis-TX replied to Fbmb's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yeah it is, we had a guy here a few months ago who realized he actually had a rice intolerance. I think 2 weeks ago someone posted about a allergy to rice.....odd as I thought it was hypoallergenic but I am not one to question odd allergies/intolerance. I myself can not have carbs or my gut visibly distends in bloated pain, been a moderation thing where... -
ARCHIVED White rice causing stomach issues?
Ennis-TX replied to Fbmb's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
What brand? Did you wash it well? Brand of garlic? Butter used by non gluten-free person with crumbs? What kind of chicken? Was it cooked in a way to avoid CC, and where did you get it/what brand chicken? Those are my thoughts and questions when I read the story. I know fresh butcher chicken has been a issue with a few people along with some brands (IE...
