  1. Just stopped by our Aldi. They had quite a bit of gluten-free foods. I did not check the freezer case because I wasn't looking for freezer food but they had the "granola bars", cookie mixes, cupcake mix, and all-purpose flour, several varieties of chips (vege, potato, etc.) and everything seemed to be about $2.50. The Aldi by our old house was so horrible...
  2. I'll have to remember those!! I bought some frozen donuts---they were nasty.
  3. I LOVE gummy worms--the neon colored ones??? The last ones I found were processed in a facility with wheat--it wasn't pretty....ugggg
  4. Ok--made my pork steak...WOW is that a tender cut of meat!!! It was so juicy and fork tender. It looks a bit like a Porterhouse Steak. NUM!! Didn't brown the potatoes enough but it was a good cut of meat!! I'm going to have to special order a pork roast to get the potatoes to brown like I like them to.
  5. I'm making a pork roast with oven browned potatoes tonight. I haven't had this in a long, long time. You need a fatty roast to make it work and they just trim too much fat off meat these days. I got a larger pork steak that was well marbled so I'm hoping it works. The juices/fat from the roast caramelize the potatoes and they are oh so yummy..oh so not...
  6. There are frozen English Muffins at my grocery store--I can't remember the brand off hand. Have you tried them? I'm hesitant to spend $8 on them if they are awful. I used to eat English Muffins for breakfast frequently. I wonder if you can make English Muffin bread with your recipe as well?
  7. Making baked chicken, hash browns and some veges. I got bacon today but going to have it tomorrow with some french toast. We have some Udi's cinnamon raisin bread and will make the french toast with that.
  8. I just looked up the restaurants for leg 1 of my trip...not even a McDonald's in town?? They have Walmart so I guess I'll have to eat Walmart food.... I did a search for gluten-free resturants, one popped up, a pizza place. They do have a gluten-free menu, it is 3 pasta dishes and says "let us know an hour in advance if you want gluten-free pasta"....
  9. ohhhhh, I'll have to get some!! I had french fries for dinner---simple foods . My stomach is still funky feeling. I'm wondering if it's my multi-vitamin?? It says gluten-free but I wonder if it's just the vitamins' itself. Who knows.
  10. That is probably what I will have to do...not sure what I'll eat for breakfast now though .
  11. Brown sugar I just opened to make the ribs and since opening is in a brand new storage container so that should be ok. I forgot coffee and coffee creamer, N-joy brand fake creamer but it says gluten-free online so who knows. The coffee is "Donut House" , not flavored, Keruig stuff. It's also hard to know if it's a response right away to what I'm eating...
  12. Something has been setting off my stomach the past couple days. I don't know if it's gluten or just maybe a bug of some kind?? I haven't eaten out, house is gluten-free so no idea what it could be. Only thing I can think of is maybe Rice Chex and maybe I just can't do rice for a while?? I've had rice chex with peaches the past couple days, Udi bread with...
  13. Not sure what I'm going to make tonight. Hubs has been working really late all week so I might just skip making anything tonight and just eat whatever
  14. I've never heard of red corn..sounds really good!! I have ribs out for dinner. Hubs will be home really late so I may do two batches of them so they are fresh when he gets home.
  15. Made chicken breasts marinaded in Walden Farms Bacon Ranch dressing--gluten-free and NO calories . and then breaded with some bread crumbs I made from the ends of my Udi bread. Nummy. Hubs made cupcakes from a King Arthur (I think) box mix. They are a little dry but not bad. I got some Cream Cheese frosting to put on them.
  16. Went to the grocery store for milk and they had Nut Thins on sale so I got those, $2.50/box . Now that most of the new labels are on the shelves, It sure was quicker picking out foods today. I didn't get much but everything I picked up said Gluten Free right on the label.
  17. Made pork chops and roasted potatoes. My son called the clinic back to ask about the testing--they told him they couldn't do the Celiac testing--um, then WHY did you do ANY tests???
  18. I brought food to eat because I figured that they wouldn't have anything gluten-free--and we purposely arrived "after" lunch time so they wouldn't feel like they needed to make us anything--they sprung the going out to eat on us so I just did the best I could. I'll have to get some salad dressing packets though That is a good idea! I will pass...
  19. I suppose...she "thought" their thousand island was gluten-free...they had an Italian but no oil and vinegar option....small mom and pop place....great food...they have an amazing soup that I LOVE....but can't have any more.....hubs was getting a little perturbed ......we need to start celiac classes for him.....
  20. Yesterday was interesting.....traveling, stopped to visit the in-laws...they decided that we would go out for lunch because she didn't know what I could eat...ok...restaurant not gluten-free or really gluten friendly. Ended up with a plain salad, no dressing because the waitress didn't know what was in the dressings and a steak that probably was ok. Then...
  21. Are you in the San Diego area ?
  22. Yikes....where are the ships going?
  23. I have some corn tortillas to use up so I'm going to warm up the rest of the fajita meat in the fridge and do those for dinner. It's a gloomy, rainy day so not in the mood to cook.
  24. Hubs went shopping yesterday....first time since I've been diagnosed. I know he didn't read labels, so I double checked everything. He was so proud he bought some candy he "knew" I could have because we've both have major sweet tooth cravings....so, first thing I see in the bag, Twizzlers, knew those were not gluten-free. Then, Good and Plenty's...2nd ingredient...
  25. Nice you found all of those restaurants with good gluten-free options!!! My trouble is when I'm in Boonedock, USA and my choice is food from a tiny gas station!! Hubs is going to make this tonight: http://glutenfreeeasily.com/flourless-gluten-free-pizza/
