  1. This is kindof a weird question. A while a go I chewed a non-chewable antihistamine. It burnt my throat bad when I tried to swallow it, almost like I was allergic to it. It wasn't meant to be chewed so that might be the problem. I think it was diphenhydramine. Is this normal?
  2. You can try the AIP diet. It is very effective for treating IBS. Migraines are often linked to IBS. https://autoimmunewellness.com/aip-medical-study-results/ Also NAC an antioxidant that can cross the blood brain barrier. http://schizophrenia.com/?page_id=706
  3. Were you eating gluten in the weeks leading up to the test? Also there are different Celiac blood tests. Getting the full celiac blood panel test done is best. There is a search feature on this website where you can look up more information on that or you can ask about that on this site. Also it is best to get a biopsy to make sure. Some people have...
  4. Maybe a gluten free complete multivitamin/multi mineral. That is what I take. I also take fish oil. I have gout and celiac and some neurological symptoms, but nothing major. For myself it isn't nerve related. A lot of people with brain related symptoms are very sensitive to small amounts of gluten. I eat just fruit and vegetables and meat and take...
  5. No I wouldn't worry about it. I have never heard of gluten being an issue for that type of project. There is no gluten in engineered hardwood floors. For drywall and spackle I have heard talk about some that used to contain gluten. I don't think it does anymore.
  6. You can look in the ingredients to see if it contains any grains that contain gluten. If it has wheat in it, in the US, it will say after the ingredients "contains wheat". This means they didn't intentionally put wheat it it but it could be cross contaminated If it is labelled "gluten free" that means it gets tested some to see if it contains gluten...
  7. The standard treatment for gout from what I have read online is a medication to lower uric acid levels. Also pain medication if needed. I have gotten a gout flare up once. It was very painful and since then I have been checking my blood uric acid levels fairly regularly. It hasn't come back. For some it can be completely debilitating though if not controlled...
  8. Have you researched gout? It is an autoimmune disease that can be trigger by certain foods. Also high dosage niacin or a rapid correction in low b12 levels can trigger a gout attack if you have the disease. Some people get it there ankles and the inflammation can radiate out to other areas. Might be a possibility I don't know for sure. Like Celiac disease...
  9. I am in the same boat. Lots of food sensitivities but I can eat fruit , most vegetables and meat which I enjoy.
  10. Actually there is a cure for celiac disease. Or the symptoms anyway.....you can swallow a tape worm and it suppresses the immune system in the gut. Or so I heard once. Don't try this at home. The problem is celaic inflammation may-or may not I don't know- start out in one area and spread to other areas of the gut. If the symptoms are delayed...
  11. The most likely possibility by far is that Celiac disease causes Niacin deficiency. I don't have time to go through all your arguments for why you think Celiac disease might be caused by Niacin deficiency. I doubt that Niacin deficiency is ever an issue if you don't have some sort of major malabsorption problem or are eating really poorly. ...
  12. https://www.tuscany-diet.net/proteins/digestion/#Stomach-and-protein-digestion "Pepsin, an endopeptidase with an optimum pH of activity at 1.6, hydrolyses 10-20% of the proteins in the meal. Many digestive enzymes are able to act on a wide range of substrates, and pepsin is no exception, catalyzing the cleavage of peptide bonds adjacent to amino acid...
  13. Posterboy, My understanding is gluten is an ambiguous term for proteins found in Wheat. There are long protein chains, and folded chains that have a certain shape. The long chains are what makes bread have it's dough like consistency. People with Celiac disease react to the folded chains. These folded chains are hydrophobic. This means they repel...
  14. You may not be trying to hide anything, but you do seem to have very different views on Celiac disease and the treatment for it. We are trying to help people and give clear and accurate information on this forum. Everyone including every celiac assocation that exists agree that the only treatment for Celiac disease is a gluten free diet. You post...
  15. Has she been tested for food allergies?
  16. From the link you mentioned: "At the other end of the spectrum there are people who experience nausea and loss of appetite on a dose of 1,000 mg three times a day. When this happens, if these people are tested they will have elevated liver enzymes that correlate closely with the sensation of nausea. These people are very sensitive to niacinamide and...
  17. Posterboy, I have read about possible benefits from taking high dose niacin for some people. However, I am still don't think it is safe. The daily value for niacin according to the Mayo Clinic is 16 milligrams (mg) a day. I can see how taking a really high dosage of slow release Niacin could through off the bodies chemistry even if small dosages are...
  18. "The time has come to test this hypothesis to see if it is a “working theory”. I only know it helped me and helps other I give the Vitamin B-3 as Niacinamide to . . . up to and including people who have had an official NCGS diagnosis. Which tells’ me it would help other Celiac’s too if they would try it (Niaciamide) 3/day for 6 months." ...
  19. I am for supplementation. I supplement with various vitamins and minerals including magnesium. I am aware that there is a strong connection between depression/stress and magnesium deficiency. This thread may be going a little bit off topic though.
  20. I have seen it before. Bacterial phages are present everywhere in the human body and they help protect the body from bacterial infection.
  21. Could be. Also overall nutritional intake I am sure is relevant. One of the studies that you mentioned stated: "We hypothesised that the effects of each of the MTHFR and MTRR polymorphisms on tHcy depend on riboflavin status. High folate status in the case of MTHFR or cobalamin in the case of MTRR may mask or override riboflavin-dependent effects. We...
  22. Not really. I some cases I feel social pressure to eat things that might be cross contaminated with gluten, or contain gluten. I still don't see the point, though in eating something that I know is harmful to my health. I merely find alternatives that I know are healthy. I get used to the very strict gluten free diet and it doesn't bug me.
  23. Here is a link: Quoting from it: "For myself I've stayed away from all grains except brown rice every few weeks and have stuck with whole foods: vegetables, meat, some legumes and some fruit. I really, really wanted to be able to eat other grains and made my own baked products but started reacting to the trace amounts of gluten in them. The...
