  1. I think this thread might be helpful..... Hope this helps...
  2. There's been more studies done that show that Type Two Diabetes DOES have autoimmune components. "Type 2 Diabetes: How Much of an Autoimmune Disease?" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6620611/ I have Type Two Diabetes and Celiac Disease. My diabetes diagnosis came before my Celiac diagnosis. Diabetes is so much easier to...
  3. Tracy, I started with thiamine nitrate, too. I started with one a day, but quickly started taking 100 mg with every meal. My body craved the pills. Not chocolate, thiamine supplements. Weird. After lots of research, I found Drs. Lonsdale and Marrs and ordered allithiamine and lipothiamine. There is an immense difference between the thiamine nitrate...
  4. Tracy, I was hoping for more from your doctor. So sad doctors aren't as educated about vitamins as we need them to be. Heavy sigh. Glad he did advise to keep taking the vitamins you've bought. The form of thiamine I found most helpful is lipothiamine or allithiamine because this form will cross the blood brain barrier and Dr. Derek Lonsdale...
  5. DH is aggravated by Iodine. Try cutting iodine sources out of your diet. Iodine is found in iodized salt (switch to Himalayan Sea Salt), eggs, dairy, shellfish, and seaweed among others. Hope this helps!
  6. Take your B Complex vitamins.... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7428453/ Be well: A potential role for vitamin B in COVID-19 And Vitamin D https://www.news-medical.net/news/20210121/Vitamin-D-deficiency-associated-with-higher-risk-of-COVID-19-hospitalization.aspx Vitamin D deficiency associated with higher risk...
  7. Glad to be able to help. I would like my experience to be of value to others. Jade's reaction to the single vitamin tablet suggests to me it is thiamine deficiency (with other vitamin deficiencies as well). Thiamine deficiency can dramatically improve within minutes or hours like that. I'm waiting on pins and needles to hear what the doctors...
  8. Tracy, If you have both HLA DQ 2 and HLA DQ 8, you have two genes for Celiac. "I am interested in seeing if she has both HLA DQ2 and DQ8 genes. I have read if you have both, it excludes having celiacs, not sure how accurate that is." Not an accurate statement at all... If you have both HLA DQ 2 and HLA DQ 8, you can have Celiac. If...
  9. Fingers crossed... Do keep us posted on your daughter's progress. 😺
  10. Tracy, Wait until after the test for vitamins on Monday. If you start supplementing now, you will invalidate the tests. The tests will measure the supplements in her system. You should talk to your doctor before administering thiamine yourself. The doctor may wish to administer an IV of high dose thiamine and witness the results. https...
  11. Tracy66, I found one more article for you. "Neurological, Psychiatric, and Biochemical Aspects of Thiamine Deficiency in Children and Adults" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6459027/ Check into the Autoimmune Paleo diet so you'll be prepared when given permission to go gluten free after all testing is done. This is...
  12. Thorn, Look into the Autoimmune Paleo diet..... https://www.thepaleomom.com/start-here/the-autoimmune-protocol/ And the Low Histamine Diet.... https://www.histamineintolerance.org.uk/about/the-food-diary/the-food-list/ I'm not surprised by your doctor's reaction. Doctors are trained to prescribe pharmaceuticals. Your sick...
  13. My vote is for tryptophan. Tryptophan has been shown to help Gerd without increasing melatonin. Tryptophan can be transformed into melatonin or into niacin as the body needs. Tryptophan is water soluble. Any excess your body doesn't need will be excreted. Melatonin independent protective role of l-tryptophan in experimental reflux esophagitis...
  14. Tracy66, I'm concerned about the decline in your daughter's brain function! Celiac Disease causes malabsorption which results in malnutrition, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, which can have the same results, the decline in brain function your daughter exhibits. I am not a doctor. I have experienced severe vitamin and mineral deficiencies....
  15. I thought these articles might help..... https://www.hormonesmatter.com/importance-stomach-acid-antacids-make-you-sick/ And.... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4110863/#!po=43.3333 Proton pump inhibitors and risk of vitamin and mineral deficiency: evidence and clinical implications Omeprazole just made me more...
  16. Remember to discuss all the vitamins and minerals with your doctor. People rarely have a single vitamin or mineral deficiency. If you're low in one vitamin or mineral, you're probably low in more. Keep us posted on your progress!
  17. It's a bad idea to take H2 blockers as you recommend because this can result in a Vitamin B12 deficiency. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/1358279/ Effect of histamine H2-receptor antagonists on vitamin B12 absorption "H2RAs have the potential to cause vitamin B12 deficiency. This may be important in patients with inadequate stores of vitamin...
  18. I believe you're referring to Cycling Lady. She was found to have autoimmune gastritis which was elevating her antibodies.
  19. Trents and RaspberryFirecracker, In reference to this statement you found... https://www.histamine-sensitivity.com/histamine_rose-08-13.html "They tend to be very low in calcium, magnesium, methionine, and B6 with excessive levels of folic acid. In fact, folate and B12 can make people feel much worse – and I use that as a clue for HIT if s...
  20. I would like scientific study or the source of your information. Where did you get this information? Please show your source for this information because it is opposite of the information I have come across. Thanks
  21. raspberryfirecracker, Please provide further information/sources for this statement "no "extra" vitamins yet unless directed by your doctor (wait a few weeks, most b vitamins especially could make you much worse right now). " Thank you.
  22. You're very welcome.
  23. BuddhaBar, I dislike neuropathy, too! "Peripheral Neuropathy Due to Vitamin Deficiency, Toxins, and Medications" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4208100/ I take B12, Vitamin C, B6, and thiamine (B1) and thiamine's partner, magnesium, for the neuropathy. Sometimes I take copper. That's all for the neuropathy. To help...
  24. Yogajc, The most accurate test is the erythrocyte transketolase test used to determine how much thiamine has been used by your body. https://www.hormonesmatter.com/thiamine-deficiency-testing-understanding-labs/ Blood tests for vitamins aren't always accurate because vitamins are used inside cells. The body likes to keep a certain quantity...
  25. Yogajc, I found some articles that I hope will be helpful. "Thiamine deficiency in patients with B-chronic lymphocytic leukaemia: a pilot study" https://pmj.bmj.com/content/77/911/582 "B-cell lymphoma, thiamine deficiency, and lactic acidosis" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5242120/ "Visual...
