BuddhaBar, I dislike neuropathy, too! "Peripheral Neuropathy Due to Vitamin Deficiency, Toxins, and Medications" https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4208100/ I take B12, Vitamin C, B6, and thiamine (B1) and thiamine's partner, magnesium, for the neuropathy. Sometimes I take copper. That's all for the neuropathy. To help...

Yogajc, The most accurate test is the erythrocyte transketolase test used to determine how much thiamine has been used by your body. https://www.hormonesmatter.com/thiamine-deficiency-testing-understanding-labs/ Blood tests for vitamins aren't always accurate because vitamins are used inside cells. The body likes to keep a certain quantity...

Wait! Hold off on the psyllium husks! Psyllium husks work by drawing water into the digestive tract. That will result in worsening dehydration. I think this book may be very helpful to you.... it explains very well how autoimmune diseases like Celiac Disease affects your body and how proper nutrition can help your body heal. The Paleo Approach... -
thorn, Losing weight without intending to, loss of appetite and nausea are early symptoms of thiamine deficiency. You should discuss the possibility of gastrointestinal beriberi with your doctor as soon as possible. Damaged villi caused by Celiac Disease cannot absorb all the vitamins we need. Some of us can suffer vitamin deficiencies. Thiamine...

What am I doing wrong?
knitty kitty replied to Vapor-girl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Oi! Stop eating fried foods! Fats are hard to digest when you have damaged villi. Think soups and stews with veggies cooked until soft. You might consider adding chicken broth or beef bone broth to your diet to help with healing. If you're not combining grains and legumes to make complete proteins, consider adding meat back into your diet.... -

That's so gross to think about but so true. Years ago, after the water main on our street kept leaking and repairs were not quick in coming, I got a water distiller from this place, H2OLabs.... https://www.h2olabs.com/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI_6Ov07Ph7QIVxqeGCh1ngwkfEAAYASAAEgJWs_D_BwE I really like the water distiller. The erythrocyte transketolase blood test determines best if there's a deficiency. This link might help.... And another.... I'm not a doctor. This is what has helped me. Hope this helps. -
No, I haven't had a nosebleed from gluten aromas. But I have had nosebleeds from high blood pressure. Anxiety can raise blood pressure. Perhaps you got anxious about the gluten aromas and your blood pressure shot up and a nosebleed ensued? You might want to check your blood pressure at home and consult your doctor.

Newly Diagnosed - Symtoms
knitty kitty replied to Walter123's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Scott, I'm taking Lipothiamine from Cardiovascular Research and have tried Allithiamine from Ecological Formulas. These are fat soluble versions of thiamine that cross the blood/brain barrier more easily. "Benfotiamine, a synthetic S-acyl thiamine derivative, has different mechanisms of action and a different pharmacological profile than lipid... -
I take Cardiovascular Research, or Ecological Formulas brands of Lipothiamine or Allithiamine. I take thiamine with every meal. The erythrocyte transketolase blood test can tell if you're thiamine deficient. Most blood tests don't accurately reflect vitamin status because vitamins are used inside tissues, and vitamins are kept at a specific level in...

Celiomniac, Welcome to the forum! As a newly diagnosed Celiac, you may be deficient or low in some vitamins and minerals. Checking for deficiencies is part of proper follow up care for Celiacs. Newly Diagnosed - Symtoms
knitty kitty replied to Walter123's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Sorry about that typo. Niacin is Vitamin B 3. Thiamine is Vitamin B1. The B vitamins all work together, so a B Complex supplement will cover all of them. There are lots of studies done that find taking higher doses of thiamine and niacin have additional health benefits. The B vitamins are water soluble, so any the body doesn't absorb is... -

Welcome to the forum, Walter! Excessive saliva production is an early symptom of Niacin (Vitamin B3) deficiency. I know because I had this, too. H. Pylori and Celiac Disease can mess with the proper absorption of vitamins and minerals. The group of eight B vitamins are affected because they are water soluble and can be used up or lost... -
Are Pfizer's And Moderna's Covid Vaccine Really Safe?
knitty kitty replied to Misslee's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Misslee, Celiac Disease is genetic. You have to have the genes for it to get it. Thiamine deficiency can cause that thiamine transporter gene (read about it below) to turn off which triggers the Celiac Disease gene to turn on. Eczema is definitely a manifestation of Celiac Disease. And now.... I'm reposting what I wrote... -

EF_ATL, I get DH and mine isn't always massively itchy. DH is usually diagnosed by taking a biopsy next to a blister and doing an immunofluorescent stain to detect antibodies. There are other not so itchy skin manifestations of Celiac Disease. One is keratosis pilaris "Gluten And Chicken Skin (Keratosis Pilaris )" https://theceliacmd...
