  1. @goatmanvevo, You may want to keep a food-mood-poo'd diary. Tracking irritating foods is much easier with a diary and helpful to doctors and nutritionists. Sometimes while healing we can react to other foods. Eggs, soy, and other grains like corn may be difficult to digest and may provoke gastrointestinal symptoms. Lactose intolerance or a...
  2. Welcome to the forum, @heyitsme! Your experiences and symptoms sound similar to mine when I had Thiamine deficiency and other nutritional deficiencies. You can read more of my story in my blog. Elevated liver enzymes are a symptom of Thiamine deficiency. Dizziness, especially after changing position could be Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia...
  3. @normagain, I've used Cobalamine B12, Thiamine B1, and Pyridoxine B6 to help with my back pain. These vitamins together are found to act as an analgesic. Since nutritional deficiencies are common in Celiac Disease, supplementing with vitamins and minerals is a good idea. Hope this helps! Role of B vitamins, thiamine, pyridoxine, and...
  4. @KSS1918, welcome to the forum! Yes, I've experienced tinnitus and difficulty swallowing (dysphagia). My Vitamin D level was very low and I was low in B Complex vitamins, especially Thiamine B1. Thiamine insufficiency affects the nerves in the head and neck causing dysphagia, tinnitus and hearing loss. Being low in other B vitamins, Riboflavin...
  5. I like The Paleo Approach by Dr. Sarah Ballantyne.
  6. Welcome to the forum, @Sammy cat! Are you consuming green smoothies?
  7. @jmichelle, Puffy eyes can be a result of high histamine. Histamine is released as part of the autoimmune response to gluten. Taking B Complex vitamins and Vitamin C will help get rid of the histamine. Hope this helps!
  8. Welcome to the forum, @Sweetsoonergirl! You may feel better if you supplement with vitamins and minerals. The gluten free diet can be low in the B vitamins and minerals like magnesium that our bodies and minds need to function. Anxiety is improved with a higher B Complex vitamin intake and Vitamin D intake. B vitamins are required by law to...
  9. Welcome to the forum, @Spitcard! A biopsy is considered the "gold standard" of diagnosis. In early stages of celiac disease and in young people, DGP IgG antibodies are often the first antibodies to be produced. Anemia, diabetes, and Thiamine deficiency can affect the production of tTg IgA anti gluten antibodies. Celiac Disease is...
  10. @elthomp, I've had tinnitus, but I found correcting my low Vitamin D improved it. Serum Vitamin D Concentration Is Lower in Patients with Tinnitus: A Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10047354/ The eight essential B vitamins and Vitamin D are effective in lowering stress, anxiety...
  11. @lydialoo, Congratulations on your improvements! Dysautonomia and POTS are caused by Thiamine insufficiency. Blood tests for Thiamine deficiency are not an accurate measurement of how well Thiamine is being utilized inside cells and organs. An Erythrocyte Transketolase test is a better measure. I've had POTS and Dysautonomia myself. I...
  12. Welcome to the forum @shawnthehaze! Deficiency in Thiamine (and magnesium) results in constipation and Gastroparesis (the intestines don't squish food through well). Intestinal bacteria have time to ferment those foods and gas results. Try the Benfotiamine and magnesium and a B Complex. Remember gluten based foods contain added vitamins and minerals...
  13. @Rosecottage, welcome to the forum! I had extremely low Vitamin D, had developed uterine hyperplasia (endometriosis), was prescribed progesterone, had Gastroparesis (foods turn to cement and don't move), had so much trouble with gas I felt my intestines were making balloon animals, had goopy swollen eyes and face from histamine intolerance and Small...
  14. I agree with you. Diabetics can choose to eat sugar but the after effects of high blood glucose levels are quite different than the downstream consequences of a Celiac eating gluten. I have both Type Two Diabetes and Celiac. If this person fell into a diabetic coma every time he over ate sugar, his opinion might be a bit different.
  15. @Dawn Meyers, Thiamine has anti-cancer properties. High Dose Vitamin B1 Reduces Proliferation in Cancer Cell Lines Analogous to Dichloroacetate https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3963161/
  16. celiac disease has to be ruled out before a diagnosis of NCGS can be made. If there are no genes for celiac disease, it's NCGS. If there are genes for Celiac, it's Celiac. "Non-celiac gluten sensitivity (NCGS) or commonly known as gluten sensitivity is defined as “a clinical syndrome caused by the gluten ingestion resulting in intestinal a...
  17. I also have had hypothyroidism, fibromyalgia, OCD, PTSD, and osteoporosis, Wernicke's Encephalopathy, and type two diabetes. I'm a Microbiologist. My health has improved by taking high dose Thiamine, and supplementing essential vitamins and minerals. Vitamins and minerals are essential for life. These should come from the food we eat, but celiac...
  18. B12 is only one of the B vitamins. You need all eight: Thiamine B1, Riboflavin B 2, Niacin B3, Pantothetic Acid B5, Pyridoxine B6, Biotin B7, Folate B 9, Cobalamine B12 B Complex contains all EIGHT of the B vitamins. White vinegar is made from grain alcohol. Try Apple Cider Vinegar instead. It will clean just as well.
  19. @Dawn Meyers, You would do much better if you took a B Complex that contains all Eight essential B vitamins. Just taking B12 Cobalamine and Folate can cause a Pyridoxine B6 deficiency. Pyridoxine deficiency causes Peripheral Neuropathy. Pyridoxine is one of the vitamins that is notoriously low in celiac disease. Try Benfotiamine in addition...
  20. @Dawn Meyers, Have you tried the Autoimmune Protocol Diet? It's a Paleo Diet that cuts out processed gluten free foods, grains, legumes, nightshades, dairy, eggs and nuts. After the digestive system calms down (about three weeks) add in one food at a time to see if symptoms reappear. It really helped me. Also, get your Vitamin D level checked...
  21. I'm Type Two Diabetes also. Diabetics lose Thiamine quickly because the kidneys don't reabsorb it. So, most diabetics are thiamine insufficient. Thiamine is needed for antibody production. If there's not sufficient Thiamine, the tTg IgA antibody producing cells in the intestines cannot develop and cannot produce antibodies in mass quantities. TTg...
  22. @waiting4jonsnow, It's more likely Celiac Disease. People with Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity do not have genes for Celiac Disease. Thiamine B12 deficiency, anemia and Diabetes can affect antibody production causing false negatives. Some Celiacs are seronegative. Were you eating sufficient gluten in your diet prior to antibody testing? ...
  23. Welcome to the forum, @Rachel SA! It's more likely Celiac Disease if you know you have that one celiac disease gene. People with Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity do not have Celiac genes. Chronic inflammation can be a sign of early celiac disease. Not consuming sufficient gluten ahead of testing can give ambiguous results on blood tests and...
  24. @SuzanneL, Be sure to eat a sufficient amount of gluten between now and your endoscopy. According to recent research, updates to the gluten challenge are being implemented. Recommended intake of gluten should be increased to 10 grams of gluten per day for at least two weeks. Or longer. While three grams of gluten will begin the immune...
