  1. @gffoodie, Dairy can cause the same antibody production reaction as gluten. A segment of casein, the protein in dairy, is the same as a segment in gluten. It's called molecular mimicry. About half of people with Celiac react to dairy the same as to gluten. Try dairy free and see if symptoms improve. Yes, it is trial and error,...
  2. Excellent! I'm on pins and needles waiting to hear how you feel with Benfotiamine!
  3. Yes, dairy can cause the increase in tTg IgA just like gluten. A segment of the gluten molecules resemble a segment in dairy molecules. It's molecular mimicry. Be as strict with dairy as you are with gluten and see if symptoms improve.
  4. Hello, @Karinosa, Are you consuming dairy? Half of all Celiacs react the same to dairy as they would to gluten. Try cutting out dairy and see if things improve. Have you been checked for vitamin and mineral deficiencies? POTS, MCAS, gastroparesis, alopecia, sleep apnea, and autoimmune diseases are associated with Thiamine deficiency...
  5. I would love to "transporter" you some like on Star Trek... P.S. divide your dose into 300 - 500 mg doses throughout the day with meals or snacks.
  6. Egads! No wonder! Thiamine Mononitrate is NOT a good type of Thiamine to use. The body has difficulty absorbing it and it's hard for the body to utilize. Thiamine mononitrate is used in supplements and processed foods because it is shelf stable, it won't break down while sitting on a shelf in the grocery store, and of minimum cost. The body...

  8. @Vicrob, Infuriating! It's Thiamine deficiency outside of alcoholism! Doctors think inside the box! Same thing happened to me. I kept getting questioned about alcoholism and mental health. I'm so sorry you've been put through this. I understand and commiserate with you. {{{Hugs}}} Which vitamins and minerals and any supplements are you taking...
  9. Welcome to the forum, @Sparkles01! Those symptoms, loss of appetite, nausea and insomnia, were symptoms I've had. My symptoms were caused by malabsorption due to CeD damage in the small intestine which resulted in vitamin and mineral deficiencies. Anorexia (loss of appetite) is a symptom of a Thiamine deficiency disorder. Thiamine Vitamin B 1...
  10. @Dionysus, Histamine Intolerance could be what you are experiencing. You would do well to focus on getting the essential vitamins and minerals needed for healing. We can lose our ability to absorb sufficient nutrients when our bodies are inflamed. Many of the essential vitamins and minerals we need will help reduce inflammation. Vitamin...
  11. @Matt13, A lot of newbies simply change out their gluten containing foods for gluten free versions. Gluten free facsimile foods are not required to be enriched or fortified with vitamins and minerals like gluten containing products. So, you need to buy your own vitamins and minerals now. IBS, as well as Celiac Disease, can affect absorption...
  12. @lesley bailey, welcome to the forum! Many people diagnosed with IBS can actually be misdiagnosed Celiac patients. I was told I had IBS more than a decade before my Celiac diagnosis. Have you had any specific tests for Celiac Disease? DNA test, endoscopy and biopsy, or antibody testing? Testing for Celiac Disease should be done before you remove gluten...
  13. @Jessica K., Keep your daughter on gluten until the endoscopy is done. Having an endoscopy now will give a baseline if, heaven forbid, she should have problems in future. Try removing dairy from her diet to ease symptoms. Half of all Celiacs react to dairy as though it were gluten due to molecular mimicry (casein, the protein in dairy, resembles...

  16. Hello, @LabLynnie, I used to have terrible frequent migraines, but since correcting nutritional deficiencies caused by Celiac Disease, I rarely get them anymore. I had tried the gamut of pharmaceuticals without any of them working. I'd much rather take vitamins that our bodies need to function properly than take medications that don't work. I...
  17. Hello, @badastronaut, I am seronegative on blood tests, but I have two genes for Celiac Disease. With positive DNA and improvement on a gluten free diet, I finally had a diagnosis. Diabetes, anemia and Thiamine deficiency disorders can cause seronegative blood test results. I had all of these, but only one is necessary to cause seronegative...
  18. @Bluesybirdie, So sorry to hear of your sad experience with fireworks. Fireworks also contain some irritating chemicals that can have deleterious effects on health. Fireworks release Sulfites and Sulfites, as well as Nitrous Oxide. Sulfites can destroy Thiamine and cause allergic reactions, including swollen eyes, respiratory problems,...
  19. Milk of magnesium is not absorbed well. Instead it pulls water into the digestive system which relieves constipation temporarily. Magnesium Glycinate is absorbed better and with Thiamine helps muscles in the digestive system function properly. Constipation is a symptom of Thiamine deficiency. You may have Candida overgrowth or SIBO. These happen...
  20. Happy Holidays, @Charliexxx, About half of the people with Celiac Disease also react to Casein, the protein in dairy, as though it were gluten. Some Celiacs cannot produce lactase, the enzyme that breaks down lactose, the sugar in dairy. Usually the tips of the villi in the small intestine produce the enzyme lactase, but damaged and blunted villi...
  21. Happy Holidays, @Beverley Ann Johnson, Sorry to hear about your trip to the ER. Were you having tachycardia? How long have you been vomiting? Just that day or weeks? Were you glutened? What are you currently eating? How long have you been "mostly fasting"? Are you taking any nutritional supplements, vitamins and minerals? Yes, the...
  22. Vitamin B12 and Vitamin D are the only two vitamins capable of being stored in the liver for a couple of years. The rest of the B vitamins and Vitamin C cannot be stored for longer than a few weeks at most. We need to replace them every day. The malabsorption that occurs in Celiac Disease is due to damage to the villi in the small intestine....
  23. @Linda68, Welcome to the forum! That article sounds interesting. Can you post a link? Were you checked for nutritional deficiencies when you were diagnosed for Celiac Disease? Do you currently take any nutritional supplements, vitamins, and minerals? Celiac Disease is often precipitated by an infection or a vaccination which depletes...
  24. Welcome, Melissa, It's really important with Celiac Disease to make sure your body is getting plenty of essential vitamins and minerals. I understand what you are going through. I developed severe nutritional deficiencies, too. The vitamin that runs out first is Vitamin B 1 Thiamine. Thiamine deficiency can cause problems with the...
