So Tired of the Stomach Issues
knitty kitty replied to Ginger38's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If iceberg lettuce is causing a problem, switch to Romaine lettuce. Iceberg lettuce is mostly cellulose which can be difficult to break down. Romaine lettuce is a good source of Thiamine. Thiamine supplements will help. Thiamine works with the other seven B vitamins, so a B Complex supplement, magnesium (also works with Thiamine) and Vitamin D ... -
Nausea and fatigue almost all day
knitty kitty replied to itarachiu's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
@Beverage, Our bodies can absorb about 300 mg of Thiamine in about three hours, so I try to take my Thiamine with meals or a snack. I take higher doses earlier in the day. Thiamine close to bedtime can make sleep elusive as I've so much energy and mental acuity. Sometimes in the morning, I will take more Allithiamine (200 mg) and less... -
@Ericaagl, Hello. I'm sorry you're having difficulties. Your symptoms are similar to what I experienced with Thiamine deficiency. In Thiamine deficiency, anorexia and loss of appetite are common. I know I would lose my appetite. If I ate carbohydrates, I gained lots of weight quickly. If I did not eat gluten and carbohydrates, I would lose...

Clueless where to start
knitty kitty replied to Marianne82's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
@Marianne82, Not a doctor, not diagnosing. I base this on personal experience. I had severe Thiamine deficiency that was not recognized by my doctors. Doctors see Thiamine deficiency as a result of alcoholism. Because I insisted I did not drink alcohol, they wrote me off as crazy. Thiamine deficiency can be caused by prescription medications... -
@Voltage, No, it's not a stupid question. It's doubtful that people walking by would contaminate your food. What sort of situation is it? Shared break room at work? Shared household?

@mbrookes, Have you tried this one? Indian Head Corn Meal Old Fashioned Stone Ground White It's available at Wal-Mart and Amazon. My people used Sunflower self rising corn meal mix. Like you pointed out, it's got wheat flour. Start with the white corn meal and add gluten free flour. King Arthur is a good gluten free flour. ... -
So Tired of the Stomach Issues
knitty kitty replied to Ginger38's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
@Ginger38 I've found the Autoimmune Protocol Diet very helpful in healing. The AIP diet was developed by a Celiac doctor, Dr. Sarah Ballantyne. It has been scientifically shown to promote healing in the intestines. The AIP diet removes dairy, eggs, all grains, legumes, nightshades (tomatoes, potatoes, eggplant and peppers), nuts and seeds. ... -
Clueless where to start
knitty kitty replied to Marianne82's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
@Marianne82, You're not alone! I've been through a similar journey where doctors wrote me off as crazy. My heart goes out to you. I, too, lost all family including my son, friends, and career because doctors misdiagnosed me. I was laughed at for suggesting Celiac Disease, too. Nutritional deficiencies caused by malabsorption due to Celiac Disease... -
While the anti-gluten antibodies have about a four month existence, the cells that produce those antibodies live for about two years. Every exposure promotes not only antibody production, but also more antibody producing cells are made from those first antibody producing cells. So count two years from a gluten exposure... Do your best to eat a healthy...

I thought you might be I interested in these articles describing patients who were diagnosed with gallbladder problems, had them removed, and we're later found to have thiamine deficiency. Yes, thiamine deficiency can affect our gallbladders before our blood levels show a deficiency in Thiamine. Gastrointestinal Beriberi and Wernicke's Encephalopathy...

Feels like I can’t eat anything
knitty kitty replied to SargeMaximus's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thiamine is needed to make testosterone. Symptoms of Thiamine deficiency include unintentional weight loss, nausea, diarrhea, and brain fog changes in thinking. The best test to see if you are low in thiamine is to take Thiamine Hydrochloride (minimum 500 mg/day) and see if you notice improvement. -
Feels like I can’t eat anything
knitty kitty replied to SargeMaximus's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thiamine can chelate heavy metals like arsenic and lead. Arsenic and other heavy metals bind to a part of the thiamine molecules and can be easily excreted from the body. This binding affinity is so great, arsenic and other heavy metals cause thiamine deficiency. Thiamine also protects against radiation. Thiamine tablets were passed out in... -

Hi, @SargeMaximus, Donating blood occasionally can lower iron levels if too high in males. -
Possible Symptoms of Celiac?
knitty kitty replied to Seethefacts's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Yes, I take high dose Thiamine and B Complex, magnesium and Vitamin D. https://thyroidpharmacist.com/articles/thiamine-and-thyroid-fatigue/ -
@lil rory, Welcome to the forum! I had to have my gallbladder removed in emergency surgery. It didn't relieve all of my digestive symptoms either. As my symptoms worsened, I began researching. (I'm a microbiologist.) I found many of my symptoms were a result of malnutrition, Thiamine Vitamin B1 in particular. Thiamine deficiency...

Possible Symptoms of Celiac?
knitty kitty replied to Seethefacts's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
@Rogol72, Strangely enough, no. I've not had a DH outbreak where I applied the iodine. I've not noticed any new breakouts after. -
@Voltage, You have had a difficult journey! My heart goes out to you. I understand having something wrong and not being able to find a solution. I went through similar symptoms that are now called POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome). Symptoms include fainting and tachycardia, and anxiety in spades, too. What helped my POTS...

Possible Symptoms of Celiac?
knitty kitty replied to Seethefacts's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
That's what I do, too, @MiriamW! I use J. Crow's Lugol's Solution of Iodine 5% 1 oz Bottle. Since it's being absorbed through the skin into the surrounding tissues, I rub a few drops of iodine on my neck in the thyroid area. -
@sljak, welcome to the forum! If you had a regular soda sweetened with High Fructose Corn Syrup, you might have developed Fructose Malabsorption. This article explains fructose malabsorption well. Symptoms include gas and bloating. https://www.healthline.com/health/fructose-malabsorption Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth...

Do you want to talk about it? Sometimes a bear hug makes me feel better. Just having someone acknowledge that you're going through a tough time. With a bit of encouragement. So I'm sending a bear hug.

Gluten-free Hydroxychloroquine
knitty kitty replied to movietime's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
I take Allithiamine, Benfotiamine, and Thiamine Hydrochloride. Ecological Formulas, Life Extension, and Thiamax are some brand names although there are others. Benefits from Thiamine Hydrochloride can be seen at 500-2000 mg. Allithiamine and Benfotiamine are fat soluble (they get into cells easily) and benefits can be seen at lower doses of... -
Hello! Good to hear from you again. I'm glad you got some results back. The pathology report about the biopsies should tell more. While things may look okay with the naked eye, the damage from Celiac can be microscopic. If laid out flat, the intestines cover an area the size of a tennis court. Areas of damage may be patchy or further down out...

Gluten-free Hydroxychloroquine

I haven't heard of that, but I'm familiar with thiamine's beneficial effects on mycotoxin production. Have you read this article? Gluten-free Hydroxychloroquine
knitty kitty replied to movietime's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
@movietime Hydroxychloroquine is one of many pharmaceuticals that shuts down thiamine transporters on cell surfaces, thus causing a functional thiamine deficiency despite normal blood levels of thiamine. Thiamine, Vitamin C and steroids have been used to help Covid patients. This study finds that thiamine and pyridoxine can bind to the... -
