Dr found my kidneys are having problems
knitty kitty replied to ButWhatCanIEat's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Sorry to hear about your health complications. For pain relief, I take high dose Thiamine Vitamin B 1, Pyridoxine Vitamin B 6, and Cobalamine Vitamin B12. I can't take NSAIDs either. Here are articles from the National Institute of Health.... Analgesic and analgesia-potentiating action of B vitamins https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov... -
Extreme constipation

My bloods coming back negative
knitty kitty replied to Kitkatco's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
@Kitkatco, We're you checked for diabetes? Uncontrolled diabetes can cause all the symptoms you related (diarrhea, joint pain, peripheral neuropathy, itchy skin rashes, ADHD, and anxiety). If you've been eating a high carbohydrate diet (more than 55% carbohydrates make up your diet), you could be on your way to diabetes. Diabetics lose much... -
The unsolved bloating mystery!
knitty kitty replied to Elisec4's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
@Elisec4, Welcome to the forum! Did your doctor bother to check your magnesium level? Low magnesium levels can cause constipation. Low magnesium levels can cause bloating. Low magnesium levels can cause bone loss. Low magnesium levels affect the parathyroid which in turn regulates insulin production in the pancreas resulting... -
@tygerlily, Hello! Glad to hear you're trying a gluten free diet! I found the Autoimmune Protocol Diet to be very helpful in healing and calming those GI symptoms. Look for the book The Paleo Approach by Dr. Sarah Ballantyne (Celiac herself) and her cookbooks. The AIP diet cuts out dairy and processed gluten free facsimile foods, and...

@PME, Yes, definitely, most conventional medical doctors don't have a clue about nutritional factors in diseases. Like most of our readers, I had become very ill with undiagnosed Celiac Disease and was searching for answers. I was blessed with the opportunity to attend university. Being a very curious kitty, I explored studies in a wide variety...

@Rogol72 is right. Not only do people eating fast food develop nutritional deficiencies, emotional stress can drain our own reserves of vitamins and minerals. A good B Complex and some extra thiamine as benfotiamine can help us deal with stress better. https://www.lifeextension.com/vitamins-supplements/item01945/bioactive-complete-b-complex...

Yes, I add in those same things occasionally. It really helps control my type two diabetes. I had Metabolic Syndrome before I started the AIP diet and my body composition has changed, too. It's great, but the AIP diet can be low in some nutrients. Consider supplementing with a good B Complex, Vitamin D (calms the immune system) and Benfotiamine (a form...

Celiac is genetic, so opting for genetic tests all around may be beneficial. Especially for your daughter. I know how she feels from my own experience of being put in that position. You're being a good dad. Kudos! I would not be surprised if Michelle had Celiac herself and is in staunch denial. (Celiac can cause vitamin deficiencies. Some...

Don't feel bad about venting your frustration! What you're asking is understandable and justifiable. Never mind about couples counseling. Get some counseling for yourself. You need a safe person to vent to, one that can give you tools to cope with this. Take the kids, too. This is stressful and damaging to them, too. Not a good example for one...

@Stulos, I understand completely! My whole family has been that way. I had a genetic test done to prove it. They still say they don't have it (but have big bloated bellies). You should get genetic testing done to see if you carry any genes for Celiac. Your symptoms certainly sound like Celiac. Mast Cell Activation Syndrome goes along with...

Gluten free perfume?
knitty kitty replied to RDLiberty's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Perfumes can be a blend different individual fragrance components together... read the description in the advertising of what goes into a fragrance. Some of those "nutty undertones" may be from wheat. I like Vintage Tradition Tallow Balm. It's all natural, clearly labeled, smells wonderful and lasts longer than perfume. @Scott Adams, I wish... -
Here's links to the kind of Benfotiamine I take... 250mg https://www.lifeextension.com/vitamins-supplements/item00925/mega-benfotiamine Or...100 mg https://www.lifeextension.com/vitamins-supplements/item00920/benfotiamine-with-thiamine Vitamin D 3 in cold pressed olive oil... you want your Vitamin D in the 80 nMols/L or better range...

Can you have DH with negative blood tests?
knitty kitty replied to Gusmom's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
@Gusmom, Doctors seem to forget there are eight essential B vitamins and B12 is just one of those. B12 needs Folate B9, and Pyridoxine B6 to function properly. Pyridoxine B6 needs Riboflavin B2 which needs Thiamine B1 and Niacin B3. They are all interconnected. There is a higher rate of Celiac Disease in people with Diabetes. Since Diabetes... -
Gluten free perfume?
knitty kitty replied to RDLiberty's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I Googled "wheat in perfume" and got lists of perfumes that contain wheat. -
@Kurlykaitlyn, I'm very concerned. You said "i woke last night after only an hour sleep and felt very weak and like I might faint on my way to the bathroom, plus chills. But no fever 😕 so idk." Feeling weak and syncope (fainting) can occur in Thiamine deficiency because the body has trouble regulating blood pressure. Chills can occur be...

We recommend a good B Complex, Vitamin D, and magnesium glycinate. Also, extra Thiamine Vitamin B 1(in the form Benfotiamine) is beneficial in healing the intestinal damage.

Terrible Neurological Symptoms
knitty kitty replied to HectorConvector's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
@Gutaid, We're you checked for vitamin and mineral deficiencies? Certain vitamin deficiencies can cause peripheral neuropathy. Nerve conduction tests reflect the damage done to the nerves, but not the cause. Nerve damage caused by vitamin deficiencies can be reversed or improved. Deficiencies in any of these Niacin Vitamin B 3, Thiamine... -
Can you have DH with negative blood tests?
knitty kitty replied to Gusmom's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
@Gusmom, Diabetes and anemia can cause false negatives on antibody tests for Celiac Disease. Also several vitamin deficiencies can cause nerve damage that feels like itching and skin problems. Deficiencies in any of these: Vitamin C, Cobalamine Vitamin B 12, Niacin Vitamin B3, and Thiamine Vitamin B 1. Do your spots get worse when exposed... -
Did I do the right thing?
knitty kitty replied to Aussienae's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
@Scott Adams, Yes, fairly recently, by Jefferson, I believe. I'll look through my bookmarks again. Thanks for trying! -
@Ambreen kelly, I have DH. I've found foods high in iodine will trigger my DH even though I'm gluten free. High iodine foods include iodized table salt, sea salt, seafood, especially crustaceans, and dairy products. Niacin Vitamin B3 will help DH heal faster. Hope you feel better soon!

Should I get tested?

@Kurlykaitlyn, Sounds like you are suffering from malnutrition. You may want to seek medical care soon. Medical professionals can give you a "banana bag" intravenously full of vitamins. The banana yellow color is from Riboflavin Vitamin B 2. You may be suffering from gastrointestinal beriberi, a deficiency in Vitamin B1. Thiamine works as...
