  1. @Gilly M, I'm so glad you found this helpful! You can read my blog for more excerpts of my story and saved research. Yes, I am very indebted to Dr. Derrick Lonsdale and Dr. Chandler Marrs. I bought their book. (Try the Library.) Elliot Overton has written articles on Dr. Marrs' website, www.hormonesmatter.com, but has his own website, eonutrition...
  2. @Rogol72, Oh! Definitely, definitely, I understand about falling off the wagon...and into the cheese barrel! Sharp cheddar cheese! And chocolate ice cream! Argh! I blame it on the exogenous opioids in dairy. I get blepharitis and eczema everywhere afterwards. Not pretty. Very itchy. Vitamin A helps blepharitis in addition to omega threes...
  3. @Rogol72, I've got it, too. I can't take fish oil, but I can take FLAXSEED Oil, which does the same thing.
  4. @Marissa221, Hi! Thiamine will help with PMS and period cramps. The Effects of Vitamin B1 on Ameliorating the Premenstrual Syndrome Symptoms https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4825494/ Just make sure the thiamine hydrochloride or benfotiamine supplements are gluten free. A hot water bottle works wonders, too! Hope...
  5. @Gilly M, Hi! I'm happy to answer any questions. Figuring out Thiamine dosage depends on many factors like how deficient you are, how active you are, what you eat, your size, health problems, etc. So it's really a matter of trying different dosages to see what works for you. Be your own guinea pig! The World Health Organization WHO says...
  6. Thiamine deficiency is found in 86% of Diabetics (doesn't matter if Type One or Two). Diabetes causes more Thiamine to be excreted by the kidneys. Benfotiamine has been shown to improve gastrointestinal healing and helps regulate blood sugar levels.
  7. @Patricia Hubbard, I do hope your doctors will at least try the IV thiamine, if for no other reason than to rule it out. Refeeding Syndrome is a concern since you are so emaciated. In Refeeding Syndrome, electrolytes and minerals may become unbalanced. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2440847/ Thiamine is safe and nontoxic...
  8. Welcome to the forum, @Gary Hamilton! I've had problems with swollen lymph nodes in my neck. My lymph nodes have shrunk and don't hurt since I started supplementing with high dose Thiamine. This explains.... http://www.hormonesmatter.com/recurrent-fever-swollen-glands-febrile-lymphadenopathy-thiamine/ Shortness of breath (sailors'...
  9. Welcome to the forum, @Marissa221! Keeping a food/mood/poo'd journal can help you pinpoint problematic foods. You also need to look at how much carbohydrates you are eating. Eating too many carbohydrates can feed bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract causing them to grow out of the large intestine where they belong and into the small intestine...
  10. @Patricia Hubbard, Welcome to the forum. I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly. Symptoms you mentioned that caught my attention include nausea, fatigue, unintentional weight loss, loss of appetite. These are all symptoms I experienced when I had thiamine deficiency prior to my Celiac diagnosis. Doctors don't usually think of thiamine deficiency...
  11. @grossi, Welcome to the forum! Thiamine deficiency can cause those symptoms. Thiamine is Vitamin B 1. Vitamin D and Vitamin B12 are the only vitamins frequently tested for. Vitamins like Thiamine are used inside cells and organs. Blood tests can't measure vitamins inside cells. Blood tests can reflect how much of a vitamin you've eaten...
  12. @DissyLissyBissy, I know EDS and Celiac are genetic. If you have EDS, you have a higher risk of Celiac Disease. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27321543/ However, before going whole hog on the ADHD diagnosis, correct your vitamin deficiencies! Deficiencies in B Complex vitamins can give symptoms of ADHD. There are eight essential...
  13. @cristiana, I had no idea you experience this, too! I've used special polarized computer filters, polarized lenses, blue light filtering glasses. Vision fades or those sparkly lights happen when I do needlework, as well, if I'm hyperfocused on threading a needle or knitting a complicated lace pattern. My ophthalmologist said it was overstimulation...
  14. @Janmac, Thiamine is a vitamin that helps if you have migraines. People with Celiac Disease have problems absorbing enough vitamins from their food. The gluten free diet can be low in vitamins and minerals. If you take vitamin supplements, you can ensure you're getting all the vitamins your body needs to get and stay healthy. Supplementing...
  15. Hello. I've suffered from migraines with aura since childhood, too. My migraines have pretty much stopped since supplementing with high dose Thiamine. I still get ophthalmic migraines triggered by computer screens, digital tv screens, phone screens. My optic nerve shuts down and I lose my vision. So, forgive me for being brief. High dose Thiamine...
  16. I experienced immediate improvement with high dose Thiamine. Thiamine is one of the eight essential B vitamins. They all work together, so taking a B Complex is beneficial. We cannot make these B vitamins in our bodies, so we need to get them in foods or supplements. Taking supplements ensures our bodies have plenty available for absorption while our...
  17. @YoloGx, Yes, I had histamine intolerance, too, when doing the Autoimmune Protocol Diet, so I skipped the high histamine bone broth and fermented foods. I skipped the kefir, too, due to casein allergy. How does the AIP diet without the high histamine foods differ from the Cave man diet? The AIP diet cuts out sugar and all grains. Vitamins...
  18. @YoloGx, Welcome to the forum! I followed the Autoimmune Protocol Diet and found more health improvements than when I followed the Low fodmap diet. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/aip-diet-autoimmune-protocol-diet Dr. Sarah Ballantyne, herself a Celiac, developed the diet for herself and her Celiac family. scientific studies have...
  19. @Megawisdumb, DH is made worse when we've been exposed to iodide, as in iodized salt, sea salt, seafood, kelp, algae, nori, and dairy. Yes, dairy has lots of iodide in it. I switched to Pink Himalayan salt and eliminated dairy, and my DH has gotten much better. I followed the Autoimmune Protocol Diet which has been shown to promote healing...
  20. @Beverley Ann Johnson, Yes, I used to have to deal with both. I supplemented with high dose Thiamine, and a B Complex and Vitamin D and magnesium. High Dose Thiamine helped the most. Thiamine is needed to run those automatic processes like digestion, sphincter muscle control, and waste removal. It's also needed to regulate our internal...
  21. I'm not familiar with nerve conduction tests. Testing for Thiamine is going to reflect supplementation. I don't know what to tell you. You could try bumping up the thiamine a little, see if that helps.
  22. @Evan0529, Yes, some of us on here have reported a vibrating, buzzing sensation. I've had the feeling so bad I had shaky hands, dropping things. I get gluten ataxia really bad, too. There's some people that produce tTg 6 antibodies in addition to tTg 2 antibodies (which is tested for in common Celiac tests) in response to gluten. This tTg...
  23. @Maddie6332, Maybe a lower temperature then! Lol! Learning to cook is so much fun! Keep experimenting! We Celiacs need a nationwide chain of gluten free restaurants! I love to hear about your cooking... Keep a journal or blog of successful recipes and disasters.
  24. @Gilly M, Thought you would be interested in some articles about Thiamine (Vitamin B1) and athletic performance. I know you said you were taking a B Complex, but high dose Thiamine is needed when there's an insufficiency/deficiency. You have to remember that gluten based products have vitamins added in to replace those lost in processing...
  25. Thiamine supplementation will help this "air hunger" . It's known as "sailors' asthma" because sailors used to get thiamine deficiency at sea without fresh meat. Thiamine Hydrochloride supplements will help. So will Allithiamine, so called because it is derived from plants in the Alum family, onions and garlic. Benfotiamine will also help.
