Fainting and blackouts
knitty kitty replied to KaysMomma's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
This sounds like Refeeding Syndrome. Refeeding Syndrome occurs when malnourished people take in too many carbohydrates which causes an electrolyte imbalance which can cause a sudden drop in blood pressure (fainting), feeling extremely cold and not being able to warm up, convulsions, seizures, loss of consciousness and deep, dark depression. I... -

Diabetics are usually deficient in Thiamine Vitamin B1. Thiamine is needed to turn carbohydrates, fats and proteins into energy for our bodies. Increasing the amount of carbohydrates in your diet can cause a dip in your thiamine level. When our thiamine level gets low, our bodies switch from aerobic energy production to anaerobic energy production, ketosis...

Allithiamine is found in garlic. It is soluble in fat, so that means it can get inside cells easily. It can cross the blood brain barrier by itself and is especially helpful for neurological symptoms like brain fog, anxiety, ADHD, memory loss, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Wernicke's, Aspergers, schizophrenia and depression. Benfotiamine is also fat...

When I was recovering, I took Thiamine Hydrochloride 300 mg every three hours. That's about as much as the body can absorb in that amount of time. I had to have Benfotiamine and Allithiamine sent to me, but added those in as soon as they arrived. I took Benfotiamine 250 mg with meals because this form helps with gastrointestinal healing and diabetes. ...

High dose Thiamine is required to correct Thiamine deficiency otherwise the Thiamine will have trouble getting into cells. Thiamine Transporters turn off during deficiency. High dose Thiamine can flood the system and get into the cells better. Dr. Lonsdale explains here... https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8533683/

Welcome to the forum! Get checked for THIAMINE Vitamin B1 deficiency! Flagyl is a medication that keeps thiamine from working. Hi! Welcome back! Sorry to hear you've had such a bumpy journey. I'm wondering if your hypoglycemia could be caused by Insulin Autoimmune Syndrome. In Celiac Disease, we can begin to make antibodies against ourselves. Autoimmune thyroid disease resulting in Hashimotos thyroiditis is one example. In Diabetes, auto-antibodies destroy the pancreatic...

Not meaning to hijack this conversation, but.... There's a link between cannabis use and Thiamine deficiency. Thiamine deficiency is frequently misdiagnosed. Cannabis blocks thiamine from being used properly. The symptoms of prodromal cannabis use are congruent with the symptoms of Thiamine deficiency. Here's an informative article about...

Egads! I don't understand why your doctors don't think it's Celiac from the biopsies! There are other genes for Celiac Disease than just those two. @Jasmina, Welcome to the forum! Sorry you seem to be having problems with gluten free breads. Your symptoms seem to indicate an allergic like reaction. Tapioca starch is made from cassava. Some people have a latex food allergy. They react to banana, avocado and cassava among other foods because of the similarity to latex (rubber)....

Remembering our lovely Queen
knitty kitty replied to cristiana's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
Condolences, @cristiana. Wonderful video! I always wondered what she carried in her purse. She will be greatly missed. -
@MathewAzreal22, Welcome to the forum. This is an older article and comments. You may not get a response from the poster. Thiamine deficiency can cause lack of weight gain. In thiamine deficiency state, the body burns fat for fuel, hence no weight gain. Anxiety is an early symptom of thiamine insufficiency, as is depression. Vitamin D...

@Grant Laws, Welcome to the forum! I was prescribed Sertraline HCl under the name Zoloft. I became very ill. Please remember that the gastrointestinal tract has a limited vocabulary. Every tummy ache isn't necessarily caused by gluten. Through research, I found that gluten free Celiac patients on PPIs, NSAIDs and SSRIs (like Zoloft...

It's rare to have a deficiency in just one single vitamin. Deficiencies usually occur in all of them. The eight B vitamins all work together. Folate B9 needs B12 Cobalamine but also B6 Pyridoxine and Riboflavin B2 which needs enzymes made from Niacin B3 and Thiamine B1. Folic acid is the synthetic form of Folate. It's better to take Folate...

Welcome to the forum, @Beck123! Longtime DH sufferer here. I had to remove everything dairy from my diet. Not only am I lactose intolerant (I can't digest the sugar in milk, lactose), I am sensitive to the protein in milk, casein. Not only does milk cause continuing inflammation and damage like gluten, dairy is high in iodine. I also found... -
@Jensamms, I've found it helpful to keep a food mood poo'd journal to help identify problematic foods. I also followed the Autoimmune Protocol Diet which helps intestines heal. It's mostly grassy fed meat, veggies and some fruits. By cutting out carbohydrates and starchy vegetables, the intestinal bacteria will change from those gas producing...
