  1. @Pondering, DH is photosensitive. DH will get worse in the sun. I have it. You might like reviewing other photos of DH in our photo bank... Your state of malnutrition will effect your ability to make antibodies for Celiac Disease. The blood test you took may be reflecting the fact your body can't make antibodies because it doesn't have...
  2. Hello, @Marina F, How are you doing? I thought I would let you know that I understand how you feel. I have had many of the same symptoms. Doctors were not a great help. Doctors are trained in universities funded by pharmaceutical companies to prescribe pharmaceuticals. Not for our benefits but theirs. Doctors do not recognize deficiencies...
  3. I'm Type Two. I've done some research into diabetes and Celiac. Diabetics of both types are usually deficient in Thiamine Vitamin B1. Seems our kidneys excrete more thiamine than nondiabetics. So I take Benfotiamine, a form of thiamine shown to help with Diabetes. I follow the Autoimmune Protocol Diet, too.
  4. @Sabaarya, Peripheral neuropathy, paresthesia, pins and needles starts with the extremities, the fingers and toes. When I had vitamin deficiencies, my fingers and toes had pins and needles sensations that got increasingly worse. Soon it felt like a swarm of bees buzzing in my feet. The buzzing progressed upwards, up my legs until I felt itching...
  5. @mspat3, Hi! How did your doctor appointment go? As I understand it, a triggering event is needed to turn on the Celiac genes. Triggering events such as a physical stress, like an accident or an illness or even a vaccination, an emotional stress or emotional trauma. Do be careful with Metformin. Metformin can cause Thiamine deficiency...
  6. @Sabaarya, There are eight B vitamins. The eight B vitamins are called essential because our bodies cannot make them, so we must get them from our diet EVERY day. The eight B vitamins work together interconnectedly, but they all do different jobs. B12 Cobalamine needs folate B9 and riboflavin B2 and pyridoxine B6. Just taking B12 can cause...
  7. @pawbearbear, Are you type two diabetic? How do you control your blood glucose?
  8. @ryanbraga2323, Welcome to the forum! I've found taking a B Complex supplement with extra thiamine Vitamin B1 in the form of Benfotiamine helps immensely. Insufficient levels of the eight essential B vitamins can give rise to depression, as can low Vitamin D levels. Magnesium is also helpful and along with Thiamine can help alleviate...
  9. Getting an endoscopy with biopsies (with or without gluten before hand) may be beneficial as it would provide a baseline with which to compare future results. It would give an idea of how much damage has been done, and be preventative for other possible problems. Do have your daughter's vitamin and mineral deficiencies addressed as part of proper...
  10. @sunflowers, Glad you're feeling better! Were the biopsy samples examined by a pathologist? How many biopsy samples were taken? Damage to the small intestine can be patchy and the initial changes with Celiac can be microscopic. Have you had genetic testing done to check for the most common Celiac genes? What recommendations...
  11. I've found better results taking Tryptophan than glutamine. Glutamine is a prolamine found in gluten and acts as an excitory neurotransmitter. Tryptophan helps promote tight junctions and is necessary for the production of serotonin, the feel good neurotransmitter. Tryptophan helps lower inflammatory cytokines. Increasing dairy consumption...
  12. Yes, well, I don't want to get into that debate. Alcohol that is not derived from grain based sources include tequila and potato based vodka. But any kind of alcohol consumption is going to affect the small intestine. Can villous atrophy be induced by chronic alcohol consumption? https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/2769179/ "This case...
  13. Canadian Club Whiskey is made from barley and rye. Barley and rye contain gluten just like wheat.
  14. No, no gluten in beef. No cross contamination possible there. However, grain fed beef contains higher levels of cortisol, which is inflammatory.
  15. @trents, This article discusses the differences found in grass fed versus grain fed cattle. Grass fed cattle have better meat and healthier fat ratios and less stress hormone, cortisol, than grain fed cattle. Integrated metabolomic and transcriptome analyses reveal finishing forage affects metabolic pathways related to beef quality...
  16. HLA-DQA1 and HLA-DQB1 Genetic Markers and Clinical Presentation in Celiac Disease https://journals.lww.com/jpgn/Fulltext/2002/05000/Further_Studies_of_Anti_Endomysium_and.14.aspx
  17. @LCAnacortes, You're very welcome. There's been other threads about chickens being fed wheat versus non wheat feed. Same for cows. 😸
  18. @OWYN and @jenford244 There are a LOT of carbohydrates and proteins in that pea protein product. There is not enough Thiamine in it to properly convert the amount of carbohydrates and proteins into energy. Increasing carbohydrate intake demands more Thiamine. The thiamine status of adult humans depends on carbohydrate intake ...
  19. I get Life Extension and Ecological Formulas from Amazon. I take a B Complex and Allithiamine and Benfotiamine, magnesium citrate glycinate. Benfotiamine promotes gastrointestinal healing. I take Benfotiamine with every meal. Theanine, an amino acid supplement, and Tryptophan are beneficial for healing as well. Keep us posted on your progress...
  20. One Benfotiamine a day may not be enough. In thiamine deficiency, the transporters that pull thiamine into cells quit working. To get thiamine into the cells and turn the transporters back on we need to take more Thiamine so it will flood the system (like storming the capital). Take Benfotiamine with every meal. Your reaction -feeling so much...
  21. Welcome to the forum, @jenford244! I've adopted the AutoImmune Protocol Diet, which is fresh veggies and lean meat, grass fed beef. Dr. Sarah Ballantyne developed it for her-Celiac-self and her Celiac children. The AIP diet is scientifically shown to promote intestinal healing. It has really helped me. https://www.thepaleomom.com/start-here...
  22. Here's a scientific study that you might find interesting.... High-dose thiamine and essential tremor https://read.qxmd.com/read/29602891/high-dose-thiamine-and-essential-tremor
  23. Vitamin D helped me get over my night sweats. Vitamin D helps regulate the immune system and calms the inflammation down.
