  1. @FunShine, Celiac Disease damages the small intestine where vitamins and minerals are absorbed. This leads to malnutrition and vitamin and mineral deficiencies. It's rare to have a deficiency in just one vitamin or mineral. There's usually deficiencies across the board. One of the first vitamins to become deficient is Thiamine Vitamin B1 because...

  5. Niacin in the form of nicotinic acid will cause vasodilation. Vasodilation is when your blood vessels expand allowing for more blood flow. Histamine is released as part of the vasodilation process. It's a normal body process to release histamine as a signal for certain things to happen. Our bodies make and break down histamine constantly. We can...
  6. Welcome back, @Ellawells, Calcium often causes constipation. Some over the counter calcium supplements have propylene glycol (Fleet - the stuff taken before colonoscopy to flush out the bowels) added in. When Calcium is supplemented, magnesium should be supplemented as well. They should be taken in a 2:1 ratio, twice as much calcium as magnesium...
  7. @UncleBen, @trents is on the right track. Some people are highly sensitive to the least amount of gluten contamination on the inside. Not so much on the outside (on the skin). Throwing away the doll was probably a bit over the top. If you feel so badly for its loss, ask a local quilters group or a sewist on Etsy to recreate one for your niece...
  8. @Sergey I believe the amino acid L-tryptophan is far more beneficial for intestinal healing. Tryptophan (along with B6 Pyridoxine and magnesium citrate) help down regulate inflammation and promote healing. Glutamine, found in meat in the diet and recycled from what glutamine the body already contains, can be made into glutamate in the body. Glutamate...
  9. Keep a journal of what you eat and the time you eat, what kind of bowel movements you have and when, and how you feel emotionally. Dairy makes me terribly depressed. And I get diarrhea with dairy. A day or two later I get dermatitis. Keeping my food/mood/poo'd journal helped me become aware of the connection. The Autoimmune Protocol Diet ...
  10. Be aware that blood tests for vitamin deficiencies will reflect the vitamins supplements you are taking. You may want to wait your doctor visit before taking the supplements. Yes, I'm feeling much better now. It's still heart rending to see others suffer for lack of basic vitamins. Keep us posted on your progress!
  11. Sergey, Take your prescribed B vitamins! They are VITal-AMINes, amino acids that our bodies cannot make. We must get them from what we consume. Take them with food to lessen stomach rumblings. The rumbling will get better with a little time. Take extra Vitamin B1 Thiamine in the form thiamine hydrochloride, Allithiamine and Benfotiamine. ...
  12. These are all symptoms of Thiamine deficiency. Thiamine can only be stored for three weeks. We can experience thiamine deficiency in as little as nine days. Our bodies need more thiamine when we are ill (like with Covid) or pregnant, are under emotional stress, or are outdoors in hot weather. Vitamin D deficiency and deficiency in Omega Threes...
  13. @Ginger38, Are you keeping a food/mood/poo'd journal? Doing so can help pinpoint foods that are causing problems. Are you eating a high carbohydrate diet? Are you eating out at restaurants? Are you consuming dairy? Have you tried the Autoimmune Protocol Diet?
  14. I have Type Two Diabetes. It can occur in some of those gene variants. Thiamine deficiency may have a lot to do with it. And with our Standard American Diet. Here's Drs. 16. We've had other adult Celiacs here who only tested positive on DPG. It's not unheard of. Anemia and Diabetes can affect antibody production.

  20. It's been found that people with Gluten Ataxia have antibodies called Ttg 6. Celiac people who have Gluten Ataxia also make high levels of antibody Ttg 6 as well as high levels of Ttg 2.
