@MathewAzreal22, Welcome to the forum. This is an older article and comments. You may not get a response from the poster. Thiamine deficiency can cause lack of weight gain. In thiamine deficiency state, the body burns fat for fuel, hence no weight gain. Anxiety is an early symptom of thiamine insufficiency, as is depression. Vitamin D...

@Grant Laws, Welcome to the forum! I was prescribed Sertraline HCl under the name Zoloft. I became very ill. Please remember that the gastrointestinal tract has a limited vocabulary. Every tummy ache isn't necessarily caused by gluten. Through research, I found that gluten free Celiac patients on PPIs, NSAIDs and SSRIs (like Zoloft...

This article about DAO is really interesting. I found the part about how certain vitamin and mineral deficiencies can affect DAO production in the body. https://mthfrsupport.com.au/2016/09/dao-deficiency-and-histamine-the-unlikely-connection/

@Beck123, Yes, if I eat dairy even without gluten, I will get DH outbreaks. This article might be helpful.... Mucosal reactivity to cow's milk protein in coeliac disease https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1810502/ I also get eczema from dairy. So I'm a flaky, bumpy, itchy mess if I consume dairy. -

It's rare to have a deficiency in just one single vitamin. Deficiencies usually occur in all of them. The eight B vitamins all work together. Folate B9 needs B12 Cobalamine but also B6 Pyridoxine and Riboflavin B2 which needs enzymes made from Niacin B3 and Thiamine B1. Folic acid is the synthetic form of Folate. It's better to take Folate...

Welcome to the forum, @Beck123! Longtime DH sufferer here. I had to remove everything dairy from my diet. Not only am I lactose intolerant (I can't digest the sugar in milk, lactose), I am sensitive to the protein in milk, casein. Not only does milk cause continuing inflammation and damage like gluten, dairy is high in iodine. I also found... -
@Jensamms, I've found it helpful to keep a food mood poo'd journal to help identify problematic foods. I also followed the Autoimmune Protocol Diet which helps intestines heal. It's mostly grassy fed meat, veggies and some fruits. By cutting out carbohydrates and starchy vegetables, the intestinal bacteria will change from those gas producing...

Celiac and bloated.
knitty kitty replied to LizG's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Welcome to the forum, @LizG! We recommend keeping a "food-mood-poo'd" journal. Recording what you eat and the digestive outcomes can be extremely helpful in pinpointing problematic foods. The Autoimmune Protocol Diet (AIP diet) which has been scientifically proven to promote healing is highly recommended. This diet includes fresh grass fed meat... -

I hear what you're saying. You're not alone in having suffered from deep psychological causes of trauma. I've been there. Read my blog for more of my story. The brain uses as much Thiamine just thinking as a marathon runner's muscles use in a race. Emotional stress and trauma can use a great deal of Thiamine. Physical trauma and illness, diarrhea... -

Welcome to the forum, @swiftie-13! Thiamine deficiency can cause anorexia. One of the symptoms of Thiamine deficiency is lack of appetite. I found relief by following the AutoImmune Protocol Diet and supplementation with high dose Thiamine. No labels to read if you don't buy processed foods. https://www.healthline.com/nutrition/aip-diet... -
It's helpful to record what you're eating in a food-mood-poo'd journal. I've found the AutoImmune Protocol Diet very helpful. Could it really be coeliacs?

@Pondering, DH is photosensitive. DH will get worse in the sun. I have it. You might like reviewing other photos of DH in our photo bank... Your state of malnutrition will effect your ability to make antibodies for Celiac Disease. Hello, @Marina F, How are you doing? I thought I would let you know that I understand how you feel. I have had many of the same symptoms. Doctors were not a great help. Doctors are trained in universities funded by pharmaceutical companies to prescribe pharmaceuticals. Not for our benefits but theirs. Doctors do not recognize deficiencies...

I’m not sure what is going on
knitty kitty replied to pawbearbear's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm Type Two. I've done some research into diabetes and Celiac. Diabetics of both types are usually deficient in Thiamine Vitamin B1. Seems our kidneys excrete more thiamine than nondiabetics. So I take Benfotiamine, a form of thiamine shown to help with Diabetes. I follow the Autoimmune Protocol Diet, too. -

@Sabaarya, Peripheral neuropathy, paresthesia, pins and needles starts with the extremities, the fingers and toes. The buzzing progressed upwards, up my legs until I felt itching... -

@mspat3, Hi! How did your doctor appointment go? As I understand it, a triggering event is needed to turn on the Celiac genes. Triggering events such as a physical stress, like an accident or an illness or even a vaccination, an emotional stress or emotional trauma. Do be careful with Metformin. Metformin can cause Thiamine deficiency... -

@Sabaarya, There are eight B vitamins. The eight B vitamins are called essential because our bodies cannot make them, so we must get them from our diet EVERY day. The eight B vitamins work together interconnectedly, but they all do different jobs. B12 Cobalamine needs folate B9 and riboflavin B2 and pyridoxine B6. Just taking B12 can cause... -

@pawbearbear, Are you type two diabetic? How do you control your blood glucose? -
@ryanbraga2323, Welcome to the forum! I've found taking a B Complex supplement with extra thiamine Vitamin B1 in the form of Benfotiamine helps immensely. Insufficient levels of the eight essential B vitamins can give rise to depression, as can low Vitamin D levels. Magnesium is also helpful and along with Thiamine can help alleviate...

Getting an endoscopy with biopsies (with or without gluten before hand) may be beneficial as it would provide a baseline with which to compare future results. It would give an idea of how much damage has been done, and be preventative for other possible problems. Do have your daughter's vitamin and mineral deficiencies addressed as part of proper... -
@sunflowers, Glad you're feeling better! Were the biopsy samples examined by a pathologist? How many biopsy samples were taken? Damage to the small intestine can be patchy and the initial changes with Celiac can be microscopic. Have you had genetic testing done to check for the most common Celiac genes? What recommendations...
